Guards WIP Organization in [LN7] Sestia | World Anvil

Guards WIP

The guards are not seen as useful *usually, and for the most part are ignored or made fun of by the citizens of Bluji. Some guards are friendly, but most are grumpy, and not happy about being tied down (the adventurers that settled for the area and in their hearts wish to be active again). Uniforms consist of kilts and vests, and whatever type of armor a person brings to the table (the guards pay, but don't pay well, so a person/being has to to take care of their own equipment, armor, and items.

Territories

The guards are only for Bluji and the immediate areas - the king has traveling militia to root out brigands and a few ships to attack pirates. There are some streets and areas in Bluji that the guards do not wish to go and many of them will give up pursuit if the person manages to get there.

Military

In Bluji we have the guard that are landed/one place warriors; those that wanted to settle down. These military people keep the peace, prevent thieves (by being there and scaring them away). They are also there just in case there are attacks or pirates, or idiots who want to dual with a city.   Currently, the guard is made of humans for the most part, there are some older guards who started their career under a different director. Right now the man in charge is very pro-human and anti-being. The person in charge is succeeding and is wishy-washy (hasn't named a successor) so the first Captain whose detective sovles a mystery will take his spot.

Technological Level

Technology is at the steampower level; some areas are a bit more advanced, others areas are behind due to where they are and the lack of supplies/beings they have.   Science is exploitation. Finding new animals, new materials, and making notes. No scientific names, no scentific method, more this interests me and I with to learn more.

Religion

Is a mish-mash of god/goddesses/godx from a variety of culture.   There is 1 religion of the state but that is not seen as the "correct" religion. Many statues are around the city and have small offerings that sit in front. (There might need to be a job that cleans up offerings after a certain point / on a day or time) or seagulls.   Most religions are not forbidden or taboo, however, they cannot go up against country law (don't kill people, don't bring people back to life, don't physically abuse people).

Agriculture & Industry

Bluji exports the seafood, import vegetables and meat

Trade & Transport

Roads Waterways Boats on the open sea   [Look up trade and trade routes]

Education

Disparity is across classes AND species. Most education is seen to by families and guilds. A dragon family would send their child out to the nearest dragon nest at a specific time for them to learn their education (not halflings) A human family would teach their child what they know:
  • lower class child learns how to do the job
  • middle class child learns (focuses) on letters and numbers
  • high class child learns letters, numbers, weapons, music, magic, etc.
All classes can learn magic if they have that inner spark - magicians will test children at a specific age to see if they have the ability. Some species will send their children to "human" school as well as the school for their species.   Average level is basic reading/writing, knowing symbols, and apprenticing to a craft either from family knowledge, sparks of interest, or interest by a master.

Infrastructure

Bluji
  • a hospital run by the Sisters of Mercy
  • several bridges that span from rocks to rocks and steps that lead down from the cliffs to the sea
  • Aquaducts are in use on the roads to move water and wash away trash roads go everywhere - There's a fort in Bluji, but no castle; the fort serves as the highest town hall. However, there is a town hall to do normal daily activities No high walls around the city; the city has grown past its original walls   The market is big enough to have three areas; wet market (food, seafood, fish, etc.), traders market (mostly more expensive pieces for those sailors itching to spend coin), night market (selling questionable legal items/stolen), day market (for clothing, good, etc.)

    Legislative Body
    The king and councils.
    Judicial Body
The city hall has people to update laws and decide what is allowed/not allowed. The mayor of the city is *the* man in charge. He gets his information from the capital mayor, who in turn gets information from the kind.
