Disaster WIP

There are always natural disasters that wreck the land, but the hurricane that hit the coastal city of Fren was one that took a long time to recover from. It came in, looking like any storm that blows in from the sea, but the winds were strong enough to break all the trees around, to fling the stones that people had used to build their houses, and in a few rare cases it even blew people from one side of the city to the other (they did not survive, and there is a metal memorial with their names at the area they landed).
With the hurricane there came a storm surge that swept away the beaches, bridges, and lower level houses. The water brought with it salt from the sea and ruined the fresh water that many people had saved in their houses.
This was over a time period of two days, and buy the end there were almost no houses left, no buildings, and only people wandering around the rubble, looking for friends and for family. It took the town months to rebuild, and there were families that decided to live elsewhere where the seas didn't punish those looking to take their bounty. While some people say this was a natural event, there were others that say the gods of the waters were displeased and that's why the town almost died. (Those people wondered why others survived).   For those who loved the ocean, they came to the city to help rebuild it - what followed was a wave of people to check the wave of water that had changed the settlement forever. (In addition to the people, there were several spells that came out of this disaster, such as breathing underwater, locating lost people, and finding specific types of metal.) The city itself is now known for it's swimming contests, oyster festivals, fish fries, and glass blowing artists.
