Sign Ceremony Sacrifice

The Sign Ceremony Sacrifice is a conspiracy that spread throughout Signatio regarding the past Sign Creation Ceremony that supposedly killed some of the 10-years-old participants.

Summary

During a Sign Creation Ceremony in an Insignis village, a group of young participants was tempted to stray from the temple they supposed to enter in favor of an abandoned one, which was forbidden to enter by anyone. Egged on by their peers a day prior, they ventured there in hopes of accomplishing their task to find their Rune Tablets. However, as the moon rises, they never came out.
Worried about the children, the magicians search for the missing participants in the next day. And as they venture into the forbidden temple, they were horrified to discover not only mangled bodies of the participants but a demon standing above them. They managed to defeat the demon, but they weren't able to save their lives.
Because of these events, the Elders put out more restrictive rules for the ceremonies and create magic barriers to seal the forbidden temple. However, no one knows what happened in the temple that caused their deaths and even to this day, the culprit behind the tragedy hasn't been found or caught.

Historical Basis

While not has known about when this conspiracy theory was spread throughout Signatio, many pointed out the similarities to a real-life incident that involved the disappearance of the Sign Creation Ceremony in one of the villages. Many magicians investigated the source of this rumor, but they haven't found any evidences that connects to the said incident.

Spread

The conspiracy was first shared by several Insignis women after learning about the incident involving the ceremony. Initially, it was spread around some villages. But it eventually spread into major cities that gained the attention to the Sage and Elders to investigate the incident.

As the conspiracy spread, it transformed from the myth involving demons to a cult ritual.
