Urqu Huasi // Peru
Peru has not changed much in the last three thousand years. Its people still speak their ancient languages, and they still look as if they've sprung from the mountain. In fact, after so many years, they've integrated much more into the mountain, and can truly call themselves mountaineers. Peru still has its beach and plains residents, though.
Geography
The costa, to the west, is a narrow plain, largely arid except for valleys created by seasonal rivers. The sierra is the region of the Andes; it includes the Altiplano plateau as well as the highest peak of the country, the 22,205 ft Huascarán. The third region is the selva, a wide expanse of flat terrain covered by the Amazon rainforest that extends east. Almost 60 percent of the country's area is located within this region.
