Anatomy

The Night fish is closer to jelly fish than true fish, and move via currents other than under their own power. In their native Caldera Lake, the are a pale pink and mildly toxic to human touch.   the night fish of Dis Sea are bright blue, and almost seem to glow under a bright moon. they where for a long time believed to be different species. it takes roughly a month for a night fish to change color, sooner of mitoses takes place. however they are very hard to spot outside of a full moon and are nearly invisible on the water during the day making studing them very difficult

Genetics and Reproduction

after they reach about a foot across, they will divide into four identical but separate fish

Growth Rate & Stages

in Caldera Lake a night fish goes from newly slpit to ready to split again in rounglt one month - the vase majortity of them coming to age during the new moon   the night fish of Dis Sea grow much slower, and newly split to full size can take two ro three months.

Dietary Needs and Habits

eats algea that forms on water surface via absorbtion. Caldera Lake's algea feeds on the volcanic minerals relased into the lake, but the fish that have escaped into Dis Sea feed on the aglea that feeds on the sunlight.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

they are the primary diet of the Caldera Crawfish. In turn, the Crawfish are one of the main food sources of the Dis Gannet, which are in of themselves a main food source for many living in and arouns the Dis Sea    Night fish from the Caldera Lake are extremely toxic to people, but not Night fish from Dis Sea - though they lack any real nutritional value. The meat is often cubed and added as a thickening agent to stews and sauces as they don't have a real 'flavor' of their own and often absorb the taste of cook cooked with it.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

night fish have accedently been intodusted to Dis Sea, and efforts being made to exterminate them by the Night Nets. the algea in Dea sea is not a nutritious for the night fish, meaning they eat much more than they would need in Caldera Lake, leading to a massive decreas in algea for the native ecosysstem
Conservation Status
invasive to Dis Sea.
