Fengati people(s)

The Fengati are the inhabitants of the Caucasian mountains ; they are the biggest ethnic group in the Fengati empire (at 99,3%).

The Fengati are actually part of the Neocaucasian ethnic group.

One of the most curious thing about them is that they boast the largest rate of autism (Asperger's syndrome) of all ethnicities to ever exist ; 82% aspies, 15% neurotypicals and 3% people with other forms of autism (Fengati people treat neurotypical people, autistic people and aspies the same way). Altho this is not true asperger's autism but rather an evolved version of it that had millenias to appear among humans. This may be explained by natural selection, or even complete randomness, as Asperger's syndrome can be transmitted through genes or can occur randomly. Who knows.

All these traits make Fengati culture and demographics extremely unique and interesting in their own way. It may also explain why they were always so scientifically advanced.

No significant rates like these can be observed among other Neocaucasian ethnicities.

Culture

Common Dress code

Usually, Fengati people don't consider clothing as an important matter, except with shoulders. Yes, you heard (or read) right. They don't care about nudity, butts and genitals. Prostitutes signal their job by wearing sleeveless tops ; this rule can create very awkward situations when foreigners don't know how to dress correctly for Fengati standards.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

The most striking thing that a foreigner observes when learning Fengati is the incredible quantity of words that indicate the type of a sentence, its intention and its mood. For example, "cu", "cen", "dizcen", "cao" and many others are question markers, and "tuy" is for "be warned, what I'm about to say is not litteral" or "quote on quote". There are many others, like "kha" (to mark the fact that you don't want to repeat what you said another time), but the list is huge.

Example : "ZAK ! ZAK ! ZAKAR KHA !" ("Stop ! Stop ! I said stop !")

All these particles simply come from the fact that people with Asperger's syndrom have a lot of trouble with questions and sentence mood.

In Fengati, verbs also have very complete verb aspects, times and moods to avoid ambiguity.

Another confusing difference with foreigners is the way they say "yes" and "no" without saying anything. Old-World Europeans shake their head sideways to say "no", and shake it up and down to say "yes". Fengati people do the same to say "no", but they tilt their head like Old-World Indians to say "yes".

Then, they have their own way to say "hello" ; they put both hands on their torso and bend over. The lower you bend, the more you respect the other person. If they must simply say "hi" quickly, they bend their head the way an Old-World European would say "yes".

Fengati politeness rules are very complex in some cases and very loose in some others, but listing all politeness rules is impossible to accomplish without a huge amount of space. Like a book, for example. Like an instruction book. Except they make backward books. Like the Japanese.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

Fengati people don't make any ceremonies when a kid is born. Such event is considered not to be interesting ; this indifference for birth comes from the [https://www.worldanvil.com/w/new-world-mistercreeper35/a/kobolitztli-article]Kobolitztli pandemic, when it was more important to grow up than to be born.

Coming of Age Rites

When you're a Fengati, the older you get and the best jobs you get, the more tattoos you get. For example, if you had been an "Agror" ("farming engineer") all your life, your face would have jaw and eye tattoos, and your forearms would be partially covered. But if you became a "Tlatowan" ("emperor", an extreme example), your whole face and arms would be covered in geometrical shapes, exquisite animal drawings and tiny poems.

But whatever your past, at 10, you'd get two circles around your arms, one for each forearm. And at 20, you'd get two times more circles, and between them, complex geometrical patterns. These usually indicate someone's origins and ethnicity.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Fengati people may consider a corpse as inanimate trash, but they still momify their deads to keep them in gigantic crypt-like underground facilities, built right under cities. There, they store thousands upon thousands of dead bodies. And as time and years pass, they find always better ways to keep corpses fresh for millenias to come.

Common Taboos

Fengati people are known by foreigners as extremely honest and crude. This comes from the fact that approximatively nothing is taboo for them, and asking them about almost anything is absolutely okay. You can talk about sex, habits, family, origins, opinions without offending them. Most of the time.

Historical figures

In Fengatl, famous people are momified and tightly packed with strips of cloth as everyone, but their bodies are buried in crypts away from the city, and in the case of the Prophet herself, only one person's momified corpse is kept inside a temple.

Among these famous people, there are political leaders, such as the Prophet, Aarman the 1st, Caypad the 1st, Kzozrav Tangri Bvarzotşl (the guy who invented molecular blades), or the first Foztlan, Kazag Traag Elbyekektep, and many others who shaped the Empire and its culture.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Zornians (and Fengati ethnicities in general) are unique among other peoples for considering deformities as "Vişbalagutlawük" (visual face wealth) ; showing your tongue to someone is actually the second most offensive thing you can do, as the most offensive one is to try to make someone ignore their deformities, scars or visual flaws by complimenting them the wrong way.

In general, Fengati people consider that universal beauty doesn't exist, but paintings and statues that tend to show beautiful bodies often depict a mix between a strong and muscular body, and a soft body.

In terms of faces, having scars, a broken nose or white spots is considered as a vişbalagutlawak as well.

Gender Ideals

Fengati people often have trouble understanding the concept of "gender", especially when learning languages from other cultures, although they understand the concept of biological sex very well. In Fengati, there is no distinction between male and female, nor there is one between animals and humans, which means Fengati people have the same roles, clothes and abilities, men or women, girls or boys. They don't even talk about "men" or "women" ; they talk about "humans". When they need to discuss biological sex, they talk about "tüfüm" (penis humans) and "vüjęnüm" (vagina humans).

When it comes to sexual orientation, Fengati people don't make any difference between homosexuality ("tovak") and heterosexuality ("dvabak"), mainly thanks to this confusion they have when strangers ask about someone's gender.

Courtship Ideals

The art of "kilifajak" (dating or seduction, in Fengati) is a bit complex, especially for foreigners, immigrants and strangers. If you read a Fengati love story, you'd learn about how Fengati people switch pronouns to indicate their feelings about someone. In old litterature, you could also spot archaic honorifics. These can now only be found in plays, movies and old books, but they're almost never used for common conversation, except when one needs to indicate clear feelings.

Relationship Ideals

The Fengati make a clear distinction between sex and love. This can be observed in the difference between the words "catzak" (sex for pleasure) and "pnatzak" (passionnate sex).

When it comes to love, traditional relationships are expected to be formed between people who want to live with one another for an unlimited length of time, which makes the Fengati very culturally monogamous. You can observe the exact opposite in Toropean culture, where a woman can have 7 husbands, but her husbands must remain monogamous.

For the Fengati, sex has the same status as food, and is a festive activity, but love is seen way more seriously.

Author's Notes

In my book, "Bahamat Burns" (the only version is in French), the first main character is Nurdolian, but all the other important characters that are not in his family are (almost) all Fengati.
