Áfruvvá's penate
Stolen by the Shark cult of Vuotnaivi from the mermaids living off Mermaid Tail atoll.
The mermaids seek the penate's return, as well as revenge against the people of Vuotnaivi. Currently, the mermaids don't know much about the people inhabiting the island, so they hold every single person on Vuotnaivi island responsible.
This figurine is called Áfruvvá's penate as it houses Áfruvvá, the matriarchal spirit of an important mermaid family living in Merkanós. A penate is a rare mermaid idol, a small coral statuette that embodies the spirit of an ancient family ancestor. The penate guards the waters the mermaids call home, inspires its resident descendants, and magically influences their moods to match mermaid ideals.
Magical Effects
The penate brings with it the strange longings of the mermaid ancestor that inhabits it. Currently, the spirit is broadcasting its own feelings of longing and despair, causing strange mood swings in the population. Once the penate is away from the people who stole it, it will transmit a vision to those who recuperated the penate Áfruvvá manifests herself and asks the PC for help."1 have no strength to speak. I beg you, find the shark folk. They mean no good for your folk or mine. Lure them below. Bring me to my shelter, and I shall reward you. Please.

This item is based on “The Shark Cult of Lankhmar”, the adventure for the 2nd edition of Dungeons and Dragons. I have adapted it to my setting, as I am running a reskinned version of this adventure in my world.
