Remeyaen Government
Public Agenda
To keep the citizens safe and happy without obstructing their freedom and liberties, nor that of others.
Assets
The Remeyaen currency are known as chips and pieces. They equate the value of silver and gold to nearly glass as they have very little of such resources, and weren't willing to war with other countries for such a stupid reason. (At least most of the officials are pretty level headed in that respect.) So they used what was readily available to them: Wood. Remeyae has great forested regions, and even a few species of trees endemic to the country. So, chips and pieces are small wooden coins that Remeyaen locals use as currency. A chip is worth ten pieces, and vice versa. Minimum wage country wide is fifty pieces, or five chips, an hour. That much can buy you a loaf of fresh bread, a gallon of cultured, pasteurized milk, a pound of beans and a pound of quinoa. Most of the locals are farmers, so clearly, the food is cheap. Not to mention, the soil is rich in nutrients, the water and air clean, and the dairy cows produce a lot of milk at about 6 gallons a day per cow. Farmland, however, is pretty expensive in most places, and taxes are high in towns and cities. Food can't be taxed because of the law, but things like furniture, silverware, tobacco, and alcohol can. Especially tobacco and alcohol. Most other countries think Remeyae a large but poor country that can't even afford to educate its children or create good laws. That's a wide misconception. This country has some of the highest ranks for education in the world, and the lowest crime rate with special consideration for how few people there are per square mile on average, thanks to the sound laws that were formed a long time ago. But, people in other countries seem to think that they're so poor that it's not even worth bothering to find out if they even can be on the lists.
Demography and Population
The census counts a little under twelve and a half million. The population count is packed in the cities and widely dispersed in the country. There are large chunks of territory in Remeyae that are completely uninhabited.
Territories
The territory of Remeyae is held peacefully. The early settlers couldn’t find any signs of habitation when they first came to the soon to be country, so they decided it was free for the taking. If someone were to invade the country now, they would be caught, questioned, and based on the results of the questioning be either turned back to their country or become a citizen of Remeyae. If it happened to be a violent invasion, then more force might be necessary.
Military
The Remeyaen military is divided into four branches; The navy, who monitors the oceans; The coast guard, who monitors the coast; The border police, who monitor the border; and the army, who act as reinforcement officers for the other two land branches. Some sectors of the army and navy specifically train their officers in stealth and infiltration along with the basics of being in the navy or army. All branches teach ethics, combat rules and to know when to flee a situation.
Technological Level
Farmers living next to bodies of water are aware that fertilizer and chemicals will lower the quality of water, so they don’t use herbicides, pesticides and only use fertilizer in their gardens closer to their houses. Farmers living next to rivers take advantage of the river and build water powered grain mills. Farmers living in windy places build wind powered grain mills. But that’s simple stuff. Solar panels, lightbulbs, home heating/cooling units and water purification systems are by far the most widespread of the technology. No cars? Nope, not really. Maybe a few, but they’ve been deemed inefficient in this country.
Religion
Any religion, or lack of religion, is allowed. If a religion causes someone to act against other peoples’ rights or liberties, then that person will be tried and punished accordingly.
Foreign Relations
Remeyae is a very cooperative and diplomatic country. If an official from another country tells one of its national secrets to Remeyae’s minister of defense, it will be safe. And probably forgotten, too, because usually that will elicit a response of “I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that.” Remeyae’s military doesn’t engage in combat unless it’s to protect its people, or maybe another nation’s people depending on the situation. These policies, along with the country’s tendency to ship off most of their surplus, keep them in good relations with other countries.
Agriculture & Industry
Remeyae is mostly an agricultural country. Farmland makes up about 90% of occupied land. But there is also a lot of unoccupied land. Because of this, there is always a surplus of food. Most of the surplus is shipped across seas to developing and collapsing nations, provided it can go the long trip without spoiling.
Trade & Transport
People will use large animals to carry produce from farm to market. The roads are often well trodden dirt paths. Building material also are a common find when looking into a wagon. Other things may include jewels and metal. While such things may not be easy to find in Remeyae, they do exist. The people selling the metal won’t have much luck selling to a common person. It would be easiest to sell to a blacksmith or a college, seeing as they can actually make use of it.
Education
It’s mandatory for children to get an education of some sort. There are few cases where they are permitted a pass. Such cases usually include issues such as a terminal illness, or mental disabilities. There are several types of schooling methods. Public schooling, private schooling, independent study and home schooling. Children with terminal illnesses or mental disabilities can get any of these methods of schooling, but the terminally ill and some of the mentally disabled are not required to, and their grades shouldn’t be held against them unless they manage to apply for college or university. Teachers are supposed to grade children on their work, not anything else, save for the case of physical education. If a child gets poor grades in a class that they usually do well on, there will be an investigation taking place without the notice or consent of the teacher or student. All personal information gained will be classified information. Lastly, there are schools with different schedules. Some schools start at midnight, some at 6 AM, some at midday, and some at 6 PM. Sometimes there are schools with several schedules.
Colleges and universities have a high admission rate, but students can’t get in if they have anything less than a 3.8 gpa.
Infrastructure
The border officers keep an eye on the border rivers. The border rivers are very wide. If they see someone swimming, canoeing or kayaking across, they’ll order them at gun point to turn back. They’ll shoot if the trespasser brings out a gun. If the trespasser physically can’t turn back, then they’ll be handcuffed as soon as they finish crossing, and backup will be requested. Each border officer can see another border officer on each side of them, except for the border officers sitting on the coast, where they’ll only see one other border officer. The Navy is constantly keeping an eye out in the ocean. The coast guard is keeping an eye on the cost in case someone slips past the Navy. The coast guard is kind of like the border police, only they can’t usually see each other. There aren’t enough coast guards that can line Remeyae’s cost, so they just keep an eye on the parts of the coast that trespassers are most commonly found on, along with the coastal city docks. Apart from military, there are other health assets. Most waste is recycled or reused. But if it can’t be used, it’s stored in caves and mines that have been deemed unsafe, mostly due to gas leaks. And just for good measures, if the leaking gas is explosive, let’s just say the waste isn’t going to be dug up any time too soon.

Major Exports
Remeyae exports a lot of produce. They don’t usually charge anything to who there exporting it to, either. Some are grateful for the food given in a time of need, so they often try to give the sailors something to express their gratitude, even if they don’t have much.
Major Imports
Remeyae is completely self dependent. Anything they need is right there in their country. But there are a few luxury items that people certainly wouldn’t mind having. Such things would include expensive crystals and jewelry. Or maybe just some sweets and foods made in other countries.
