[oc: session 0.5; Wet Behind the Ears]

by Seh-k'r "Furkin" of the Deep Dark [Urrth]

After jumping into the portal, we found ourselves falling from the sky towards a seemingly endless expanse of water. In that moment, we also immediately felt like we had left something significant behind. As we fell, however, we had no time to focus on that, as the only thing other than water and ice within view seemed to be a single wooden water vehicle of some kind. After we, miraculously, survived our plummet, we were fished out of the water by the crew of this ship, belonging to a female half-orc known as jarl Fionna Davidsdottir. After some conversation with a male named runespeaker Bjorn Anarrsson, Gamma and Kole joined the crew in the rowing banks, and I joined the spotter up in the highest point of the ship. After some time, I spotted another vessel, which I was told belonged to a Halfdan Dagfinn, who sounded like he was some kind of criminal. Jarl Davidsdottir ordered the crew of her Leaping Drake to start the pursuit of the other vessel. In the combat that followed, the enemy was completely destroyed, but at a heavy cost.

Eventually, we got back to shore with the captured vehicle in tow, where both ships were pulled onto the beach. This is when we discovered we all felt stronger, quicker and tougher on this strange new world than we did back home. I observed as our hosts set up camp, and we ours, while Nemora and Kole seemed to be worried about something irrelevant to me. We might be stuck on this world for a while, which means we must adapt to not only this world, but also the customs of its people, as soon as possible. After a little while, I decided to head over and talk to runespeaker Anarrsson if possible, to see how willing they might be to help us out in learning to survive on this strange new world. My reasoning to talk to the runespeaker, rather than to the jarl herself, is that I don't want to overstep boundaries, and the runespeaker had been the one to talk to us before.

In talking, the runespeaker mentioned a share of the spoils of war would be ours, and that we were at the start of our sagas. How we want these people to view us, and our legacy, will be on us to decide through our actions. He also spoke of the importance of heritage and family to the people of this world. In this, we are at a disadvantage, having no family on this world. Nonetheless, the stories I shared with the runespeaker of my ancestral home and family seemed to interest him, and he told me that perhaps the people of this world aren't all that different from my people, or, at least, some of them.

After sharing some of this wisdom with the others, and watch Nemora fail to attempt to interact with the runespeaker, we spent some time together. After a little while, jarl Davidsdottir and runespeaker Anarrsson moved toward the captured ship, presumably to have a look at the spoils of war. I decided to join them, if they'd let me. The three of us took a look at everything on board. As the runespeaker went to lay the dead to rest according to their customs, the jarl and I gathered the relevant items the jarl sought to hand out. Once all of that was done, the jarl went to divide the spoils among her own crew, as well as us. This is when jarl Fionna Davidsdottir gave us all names: "Seh-k'r Furkin", "Nemora Fellword", "Kole Thundertouch" and "Gamma Stonestep".

Our share of the spoils was: a helm, a gamberson, a chain shirt, a winter cloak, a pair of winter boots, a set if clothes, a longsword, a shield, a purse containing 150 silver coins.
