Loremaster of the Imperial Library, Cirell is an older gentleman who frequents orphanages, taverns, and the like to tell stories. He loves to share the histories of the world to those around him, watching wonder grow on their faces as he spins his tales.
A kind and grandfatherly old man, Cirell has always had a penchant for stories. Having been an adventurer himself in his youth, he has collected many stories from around the world that he wished to share with whomever would listen. After retiring from adventuring, Cirell would work at the Imperial Library, and spend his days copying down every story he could remember, and telling them to the locals at taverns and orphanages.

Personal history
Cirell comes from very humble beginnings. He grew up with nothing as a farm boy. He spent his days toiling away, preparing to survive the harsh winters. In the rare days where his father went to town for supplies and whatnot, Cirell would do whatever it took to tag along and get away from the dreary farm. When in town, Cirell went straight to the tavern to see whatever traveling minstrel or storyteller was in that day. Most of the time, Cirell would find one in a performance, and would sit down and listen earnestly, taking in the grand adventure being spun. These tales captivated Cirell like nothing else, providing him an escape from his monotonous life, filling him with dreams. When Cirell was 16, his father fell ill during a particularly harsh winter, and passed away. His mother had passed years prior in childbirth with Cirell's younger brother, who also unfortunately passed with their mother; so Cirell, with no family left, headed to town, hoping to find a minstrel. He worked at the inn for a few weeks, asking the travelers if they would take him on as an apprentice, but all declined. That is, until one day, when a middle aged man walked in, caked in mud and sweat, carrying a large bag.
The man was almost kicked out for being so dirty, but Cirell convinced his boss to give him some food. He asked the man's name, to which the man replied, "My name? I have many different names, but none of them matter. All you need to know is that I am a man in need of some food." Cirell was very confused by the man's response, and didn't pay much heed to it. Instead, he asked, "Well what do you have in that bag?"
"Ah, a more relevant question. Why don't you take a look yourself, boy?" Cirell proceeds to look inside, and finds an array of instruments, books, inkpots, and other tools of the barding trade. While he was looking the barmaid brought the man his food, which he then promptly paid for.
"Wait! Why don't you play for some free food and lodging?" Cirell asked.
"That isn't what I use my talents for..."
The man proceeds to explain that he collects stories, old and new, in order to pass them down to his son, as his father did for him, and his father before him, and so on and so forth. He sees himself as a historian, keeping the memory of humantiy alive, spreading it when the world forgets. Cirell is encapsulated by this strange man. He quickly realizes that he is by far the most amazing person he has met, and asks him what he has asked many others before, "Will you take me on as an apprentice." To his surprise, he said yes, and they left together the next morning.
Cirell would never learn his mentor's true name, but learned many of his aliases; Jaquen, Galan, Tariq, Gomath, Nicklaus, Liceva, and many others. He learned many ancient stories, they discovered many new ones, and lived through others. They would travel together until the man would pass away suddenly from old age, leaving Cirell everything. Cirell would continue to adventure and travel for much longer until he retired to the Imperial Library as its Loremaster.
