Personal history
Growing up in the capital of Theralla, as a young Elvarlin, Yor was curious and tended to explore both the main island, but also the islands around it. In doing so, he came into contact with the Shadow-breed of the Elvarlin, which only increased his desire to learn more about the world around him.
He started to realize that he had magic potentials at the young age of 19 but never really had the opportunity to hone his skills, since most of the Sunwalkers were wizards and meticulously trained their abilities, which did not help Yor in the slightest. He soon discovered that he was a sorcerer of nature and that his abilities came as he used them and the more he needed something, the more his abilities grew.
His family, Yidaryn, owned an alchemy shop which he assisted with until he was 107 years old, at that time a human traveller visited with some very exotic plants and materials. When he inquired deeper into the origin of these materials, he discovered that the man was a fellow sorcerer and had travelled much of the world in search of new and wonderful things, which was also the reason for him visiting Ei’thalas.
The two of them formed a student/teacher relationship, even though the traveller was half Yor’s age. There was much that Yor could learn from him. Over the next many years, the traveller, whose name Yor had learned to be Windsoor, helped Yor to control and direct his magic abilities as well as train him in rudimentary forms of combat. Yor had now more than ever set his mind to adventure and explore the world around him and was now given tools to do so.
Since his family did not want him to travel he slowly saved up funds of his own to buy equipment and gear for his travels ahead. After having spent several years he finally saved enough to travel to the main islands in the realm. The only item that his parents bestowed to him upon his departure was a golden signet ring for the Yidaryn family, to both remind him where he came from and to ensure that any correspondence he would send would be guaranteed to be from him. The signet itself was a stylized Y within the image of a vial, surrounded by ornamental trees.
