Jatsu was a wanderer and a mercenary for hire, willing to join a group for adventure and rewards. Early in his travels, he was a healer for a militia group trying to defend a town against a larger military force controlled by an oppressive governor. The Governor's military force won, but Jatsu managed to escape. He had no real ties to the town and moved on.
 
Over time, Jatsu joined the Pathfinder Society. Through the organization, Jatsu met the Saviors of Sandpoint and aided them in their investigation involving a death cult in Magnimar.
 
When word of an impending attack from a long-forgotten runelord came to her attention, Sheila Heidmarch sent Jatsu and three other pathfinders to the fabled city of Xin-Shalast to investigate. They were tasked to search for anything that could be used to stop Karzoug, the Runelord of Greed.
 
While trying to find a way into the city, Jatsu's party was ambushed by a pack of savage Yeti. They slaughtered the party, but before they could reach Jatsu, the Saviors of Sandpoint appeared. Jatsu joined the Saviors in taking a more direct approach to stop the Runelord.
