Session 14: Bad Luck on a Thursday Night Report

General Summary

The coterie unites at Eleanor's house at sundown, strategizing for something they're still struggling to believe. And after some nervous plotting, they collect the gear they can think of before making their way to the convention center. As the sky continues to darken, they watch as the final few guests mill out of the building and the lights flicker off, leaving the building at their mercy. And so they set off, making for the loading dock with the keys they procured the previous week. Entry into the building is easy, but finding the cultists they're trying to stop is a different story all together.   As they begin to move through the convention center, making their way to the ballroom's south entrance, John, Killian, and Eleanor all try to open the door (and hurt themselves) before Adel has the chance to reveal that the door has been locked with an arcane ward against Cainites. She also makes note of three arching magical tendrils that float off of the rune and leads deeper into the convention center, perhaps indicating that some keys need to be found to remove power from the rune. As the coterie discovers their goal, a strange feeling overcomes all of them as they become compelled to split up from each other, going their separate ways to find these mysterious keys.   Adel's group (with Killian and Juno) discovers the first rune... as well as their first adversary. To their horror, it seems the ritual had already been completed, and as an obfuscated Adel sneaks into the room with the rune, Killian and Juno are confronted with the twisted visage of Cheer Bear as she grins maniacally at them. She gives chase, assuring Killian that she will send him straight to hell as she ushers them back into the food court, giving Adel ample time to find the rune and scrub it away.   Meanwhile, John's group (with Eleanor and Windora) head off into the West wing. And as they turn down a corridor that sorely ends in a dead-end, Good Luck Bear and Share Bear reveal themselves- Good Luck Bear appears behind them to trap them in the corridor while Share Bear punches her way out of the room neighboring the rune. Windora manages to get into the room while Eleanor & John distract the bears, but inevitably Share Bear escapes confinement and makes an attempt to go after her. John manages to slip into the room before Share Bear can & barricades the door, giving Windora more holy water so she can properly distort the symbol and dispel it. Share Bear seems to lose interest in them once the rune is destroyed and wanders off, leaving John & Windora to wonder where she's wandering off to.   Finally- The Coterie had left Maki to watch the camera feed on her laptop, hauling her up in a bathroom to hopefully wait out the encounter in peace. She sat quietly in a salt circle on the bathroom floor, but to her surprise, it seems one of the bears knew to sniff her out here. Funshine Bear found the stall she was hiding in and opened the door, then noticed the circle she was protecting herself with. Seemingly deciding to wait her out, Funshine Bear seats himself right in the doorway of the stall, eyeing her menacingly with his one remaining eye.
