Session 6: A Day in the Life of J. Palmer Report

General Summary

To conclude October 1st, the coterie tries one last time to find a wraith. This time without John as he departs on his own mission.    While going their separate ways briefly to slake some hunger, Adel tries for a premonition to see if she can materialize some insight on where a real wraith could be. Her mind's eye shows her a bleary image of a VHS tape, the label somewhat obscured in her vision. Knowing what she's looking for, she rejoins her party and convinces Eleanor & Windora to accompany her to a video rental store, as per Marcel's suggestion.   Together, they start to comb the shelves for any mysterious tapes. Unfortunately, nothing seems to proc their supernatural senses, so they resort to inquiring with the cashier if he's got any idea of what they're looking for. Adel has another brief vision of the monsters that star in this film, but nothing concrete enough to jog the memories of her friends. Finally, using Awe to coerce the teen from the computer terminal, Adel is able to dig into the video rental's database for movies that have been rented out recently.   With great luck, she discovers a movie that has been long overdue for a few months now. The famously bad movie "Trolls 2" matches the description of the monsters in her vision, so they procure this "J. Palmer's" address from the terminal and go to retrieve the rest of their group to see what they can find.   Arriving at J. Palmer's apartment complex, they find a clip by his door is littered with notices, some informing him of local events while the occasional handwritten note inquires on why they haven't seen him recently. Regardless, Killian expertly picks the lock to allow them in and the group proceeds into the apartment to see if it really is haunted.   It takes no time at all for Adel to uncover the location of the VHS tape, signs of a haunting beginning to come alive around her as she touches it. Without a doubt, this is their first fetter. They spend a few moments conversing with the wraith through a spirit box, the group discovering rather quickly that the wraith doesn't seem very hostile and may even feel inclined to help them solve the mystery of his death despite only being able to convey a few words at a time. They find he didn't pass away in his apartment, rather he died in an accident while biking, but where his remains are is still largely unknown. Knowing their task was to simply gather fetters, Adel convinces the coterie to head back to the Rosson House to turn in the fetter to Dr. Blight.   For their trouble, Dr. Blight awards the group enough blood shards for all five of them before requesting they find him a fetter attached to a specter before he starts sending them on more high-octane errands on his behalf. As for J. Palmer's spirit? Perhaps it will be put to rest at a later date, for now, the coterie goes their separate ways for the night, finally concluding this long evening.
