Session 12: Rain, Rain Go Away Report

General Summary

Saturday - October 9th, 1999

  Making their way to the Phoenix Police Department, Nick arranges for the coterie to dig into Huey Macmillian's PC which was procured by the police the night of his murder. Nick states that no one else has had a chance yet to really look through the terminal given the killer was found the same night they recovered it. He also informs them that he's put them down in the check-out logs as a formality before leaving them to do what they must.   Maki gets right to work on the PC, inserting a floppy that runs a code to bypass the lock screen before snooping around the PC's contents. They find the computer has been kept relatively clean, implying it's used only for business practices. However, Huey's email leaves one interesting clue they hadn't uncovered before- an email from a restricted sender that reads as follows;
“Hey H. Do a better job at keeping a low profile. The moment you or your colleagues get found out, you won’t be hearing from me again. I can lend you a few guys to help you evict those tenants by any means necessary, no questions asked. Just don’t say I never did anything to help you.”
The email also displayed Huey's response;
“Perfect. I assume they already have my number? Tell them to give me a call and I can set the rest up myself. Keep your nose clean.”
Eleanor takes note of the email even though it appears to be a random string of numbers and letters before they move on for the night, unable to uncover anything else of interest off this PC.

Downtime [ 10th - 12th ]

  The coterie gets up to their usual nonsense during this time. We'll touch more on a little intermission they had in a later report, but otherwise, a few things of note happen.   Eleanor starts to make her gradual return to fame in the local area. Playing regularly at the Devil's Oasis has granted her a small local following and thusly the hunt is starting to become pretty easy. It's been a long time since she's tasted recognition and it'll be interesting to see where it takes her. Alongside this, she notices Colin looking a little down after watching her preform, but she manages to get him to confess to being a little sad they don't spend a lot of one on one time together anymore.   Maki makes some progress on her plant-dog experiment.   Adel purchases a super soaker for the upcoming event.   And Killian has a brief moment of political speculating as he starts to realize that the Camarilla he holds in such high regard is but a shadow of its former self in the Valley. What was once a very peaceful region is now gradually falling into chaos and the Camarilla in the area are doing very little to stop it. Why?

Wednesday - October 13th, 1999

  Breaking routine, the coterie assembles on a Wednesday to begin scouting the convention center together. They make note of the security detail before making their way to the North Ballroom where they speculate the main event will be taking place. Trying to be discreet, Adel makes her way back stage while under the cover of Obfuscate, but only manages to commit the locations of the cameras to memory. On her way out, she does detect some kind of supernatural presence, but it's not strong enough for her to be able to sniff it out, so she returns to the group.   Conveying this to Eleanor, she decides to try and sniff it out herself. She puts on a little show, trying to be discreet before wandering back stage just trying to look curious. Once she taps into her Auspex, she too starts to feel the resonance of something malicious and is able to pin-point it's location, but in trying to move the boxes out of the way, she ends up falling and tearing her skirt instead. Juno- hearing her fall over, hops onto stage and rushes behind the curtain, and it's with his help that she's able to move the box and reveal the arcane symbol painted in ?red? on the floor.   It's the symbol of the Sabbat... with some minor alterations. The wings on the symbol imply maybe it's for something else, but the coterie has no clue as to what specifically.    After discovering this, the group decides to split up to look into other locations of interest, one team heading to the Loading Docks to find an alternate entrance & the other heading to the Security Room to see if they can set something up to disable the cameras later.   [ To be continued in Session 13 ]
