Session 007: Mossy Temple, Finally Report
General Summary
The Chosen of the Oracle finally makes their way to the Mossy Temple. The Chosen of the Oracle got some shopping done in Estoria. The Chosen were challenged to arm wrestling contests & bought drinks in the bars & inns in Estoria. Pythor met with both Ollidak & Pyra. He told Pyra about how the Dragon Hexia had kidnapped Pyra'a mother, & to speak to Volkan about forging the unfinished weapon. To Ollidak Pythor said "you must find the lost treasure of the Dragonlords & the last person known to have seen it is, Estor Arkelander. Undead Captain of the ghost ship, The Ultros." .(edited) John & Hulgnir went to see the irascible Volkan. John got his ingot & gold back. Volkan found the underpayment funny. They gave him the Shield of Volkan & The Breastplate of Mytros so he could repair it. Which he said that he could do, if he was loaned Pythor's hammer, used the Mithril Forge & was paid 500 GP. It would take a week, for each item. They opted for the Breastplate, after he bought some decorative armour from them. Giving them the funds to do so.(edited) Pyra went to see Volkan to ask him about two things: 1. Trading Pythor's Hammer for another magical weapon. 2. Asking advice on how to hatch a Dragon egg. The first insulted Volkan as he heard it as 'take my inheritance, grandfather'. The second, Volkan couldn't help with, as each hero much find their own course. john bought a horse, cart, birdle & bit. Pyra cast a new spell, Find Steed, to summon a Drake. Once Oren heard the John talking about buying barding. He started to the Mossy Temple. Veronica & Euadne joined him. The rest of the party caught up, seeing Kyrah putting an amphora in Oren’s backpack. They kept silent about that to Oren. Kyrah then told them an ancient legend to pass the time on their journey. It took them a couple of hours to get to the Oldwoods. The War of the Titans For a time the children of Thylea and Kentimane dwelt together in peace. But after Lutheria and Sydon enslaved their eldest brother for creating the myrmekes, the remaining siblings decided upon revenge. Hergeron, the second eldest brother and the god of Strength and Valor, challenged Sydon to a duel, brashly confident in his own abilities. But Sydon had absorbed much of the enslaved Talieus’ power, and he easily bested his challenger. Sydon imprisoned the defeated Hergeron beneath a great tower, chaining him to so that the full weight of the building was forever pressing down on Hergeron’s enormous neck and shoulders. The remaining four siblings, realizing Sydon had grown too powerful to challenge directly, decided to strike at Lutheria. In secret, they traveled to her island but the Goddess of Death had set a trap for her kin. Through the ritual sacrifice of a thousand basilisks, she had created a great pool of poisonous blood at the heart of her domain. When the invaders set foot upon the island they triggered wards of power that released the magic of the foul pool in a lethal burst, instantly turning three of them to stone. Only Chalcia, the Goddess of Swiftness, was nimble enough to escape. Knowing the Twins would come after her, Chalcia took shelter beneath a massive volcano. There she could use her speed and quickness to survive in the labyrinth of tunnels and lava tubes. When Sydon learned of the failed attack against his sister-wife, his fury knew no bounds. In a blind rage, he summoned a great storm to lash all the islands of Thylea, seeking to flood the chambers where Chalcia was hiding. The storms threatened to wash away Thylea itself, something that Kentimane would not allow. Kentimane had stayed neutral in the battles of his children but, once the safety of all of Thylea became threatened, he was forced to intervene. Kentimane blunted the storms, and he forbade Sydon and Lutheria from destroying the volcano that sheltered their fugitive sister. Sydon was loathe to let Chalcia escape retribution, but even he was not strong enough to defy his mighty father. Lutheria, cunning as ever, knew of another way to get revenge. Uniting their power, and the power stolen from their fallen siblings, the Twins reached deep into the foundation of Thylea. They shifted rock and stone, careful not to disturb the islands above as they sealed off the tunnels and chambers beneath the volcano one by one. Chalcia ran from their relentless work, driven ever deeper beneath the earth. In the end, the elusive Goddess of Swiftness found herself trapped in a tiny chamber at the very heart of the volcano itself. With every exit sealed, the walls slowly closed in tighter and tighter as burning lava oozed through cracks and crevices in floor and ceiling. Instead of crushing her, the Twins stopped at the last instant, entombing their sister for all eternity in a crypt of searing heat and noxious fumes. The Chosen were then attacked by Centaurs. Treece the newly named Cockatrice joined in the fight. The Centaurs ran away but two were unable to do so. One was restrained by Treece's petrificating beaking. The other by Hulgnir's hugging. Making their way through the Oldwoods for most of a day. The Chosen of the Oracle came upon Corinna she was being chased by 6 Goatmen. Euadne errupted the earth around three of them. They focused their attention on Veronica attacking her laughing maniacally. The Chosen quickly saved Corinna. John recognized her as the daughter of Thericles, & she thanked them. She told them of Demetria & how she made everyone fall in love with her, they spoke to her & did everything she said. Loreus, a Satyr told her to leave & she ran as fast as she could. The Goatlings chased her to the Chosen. Once Corinna heard that they were going to the Mossy Temple she was determined to stay with the group & save her friends. The Chosen had finally arrived at the Mossy Temple, it had taken the better part of a day to get there. A squirrel was tossing rocks & nuts at the party. Oren, annoyed at yet another delay, drew his bow knocking an arrow but the Chosen started working a ritual to speak to it. Oren made his way to the Temple, followed by Veronica. Euadne & Ollidak followed Oren & Veronica, after establishing that the squirrel was acting familiar to Euadne. John's ritual showed them that this was Euadne's sibling & they were insane. Oren saw a damaged shield of Estor Arkelander. They were attacked by roots. As each new member came to the Mossy Temple a new root appeared. The Chosen fought off the roots, then came upon a statue of Sydon. Veronica mentioned how beautiful it was. While Veronica watched in horror two people attacked the statue of Sydon. Fortunately it didn't cause much damage. John threw the shield into the bushes to protect Kyrah from seeing it. Coming upon a pool room, they noticed two oily spots in the water. The oil proved to be oozes they ate John's sword when he attacked. Removing two points of damage. Veronica opened the door & the party saw four medium sized Gygan statues. They were missing: arms, legs, heads. The statues came to life & attacked the Chosen. They fought them & were able to clear the area so they could go down the stairs. The Chosen went down the stairs & found themselves in an underground forest. There was a great tree stump before them. The Chosen saw several more Goatlings & a Satyr that Corinna identified as the one that told her to flee, Loreus. The Chosen engaged the Goatlings & they continued to focus their attacks on Veronica. The north easterly section contained naturally found truth serum, 12 doses. The south westerly section was unexplored. The Chosen saw some Dryad's & Satyr's there in the distance. With the last of the Goatlings defeated. The Chosen..... There's now 13 days until the Mithril mines are attacked. Oren & Veronica were told by Versi the Oracle to talk to Demetria about their destiny. The Chosen need to find the Horn of Balmytria, & this is where the tracks headed. Pyra needs to find the ingredients to create Pythor's unfinished magical weapon & find Hexia. Euadne needs to speak to someone. Ollidak needs to find Estor Arkelander who is undead & captain of the ghost ship the Ultros. Hulgnir was asked to bring the Chosen to Mytros.
