The Lair of Kalabraxir: RPG Session 21

General Summary

"I can't believe it's taken me this long to realize this, but I'm basically Thor."   "Hmm, sent away by parents because you weren't worthy, check. Ended up fighting monsters in an arena, befriending one of them, check. Finding out your "brother" was actually your enemy and having to defeat him in your first ensemble adventure, check. Has a creepily strong relationship with a magical lightning hammer, check. Yeah, you're Thor.   ~What does this make everyone else though?
 

Dramatis Personae

Heroes of the Story:

  • Gúrda Thérun, a Frost Dwarf druid from the wild North;
  • Geort Adanar, a human paladin and a rough and tumble sort;
  • Melé Alkabahar, a human avenger, seeking glory in battle against evil; and
  • Daz Dromégar, a human bard, fresh off the defeat of local bandits.
  • In the city of Losgate:

  • Mëplar Mirkawë, a mage in the employ of the College of Mages.
  • the scribe to the Head Magistrate of Schinter.
  • What Happened

    Fresh off the defeat of the wyrmpriest and his drakeling cronies, The Drakeslayers continued to search for the source of the drakelings' feral nature. They carefully tread along the hallways and chambers of the Undercity, dodging an ambush set by the drakelings and avoiding the sleeping quarters and storage areas of the creatures.   They eventually found their way to the main chamber of the chief drakeling, only to discover that a young white dragon named Kalabraxir had taken that spot. He had frozen the two guards and the previous chieftain, and he had forced the drakelings to collect gold and jewelry for him. He then took to the air and set his two companion drakelings on the party.   A tense battle ensued, as the dragon's thick hide and flight preventing the party from hitting him easily. Eventually, though, they emerged victorious, with Gúrda landing the killing blow. They collected the treasure and made a quick exit in case the sounds of battle attracted more drakelings.   They returned to the surface, picked up their things at the Siren's Call and made their way to the Sea Fort to meet with the magistrate for their reward. It was at this moment that they realized that they had never received permission to travel to the Undercity and therefore forfeited their reward, despite some very good attempts to persuade the scribe.   Following that, they made their way to the College of Mages tower to be teleported to Eleikar Town. Mëplar had communicated to let them know that the required specialist had arrived and they could leave whenever. They paid the 250 gold pieces each that the College demanded and stepped through the teleportation circle...   Note: Following this session, the group will be converting the campaign to 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons. My poor brain can no longer handle keeping track of both editions, and 5th edition is a lot more open for the roleplay aspects of our game. We'll need some time to convert so we'll be away for a while.
