  • What Happened

After a restful night at the Last Post, The Drakeslayers had a warm bath courtesy of the inn and began to make their way into the Schinter Valley. After a few days of travel, during which they made their way through the villages of Klimtar and Valtir, the group arrived at the small fishing village of Bluewater at the edge of Lake Lós.   Bluewater, the party learned, had been attacked only a couple of days earlier by the band of pirates led by Wildemar the Widowmaker. The brigands set fire to the town's dockyards and fled, carrying a significant portion of the town's winter stores of food and the Magistrate's son, Pilka Zaltos . After getting through the town's new palisade walls, they met with the Magistrate and his wife in order to offer their services. While the pair had already sent for aid from Losgate and received Captain Ribi Dérantu and the crew of his ship, the Gull's Reach, they were more than happy to have an additional group of folk helping out.   After an evening spent gathering information at the town's inn, the Wailing Wave, the group were invited to spend the night at the villa of the Magistrate and set out with Ribi and his crew in the morning. That morning, Gúrda went down to the ruined dockyards and made out a ship flying a plain red flag in the harbour that left before they could get a good look at it. Informing the Captain of this, the group set sail to search the lake for the location of the pirates' hideout.   Not long into their journey, they found the ship that Gúrda had seen that morning, and upon closer inspection, it appeared to be an Imperial vessel. Not suspecting any treachery, Ribi and his small group of guards went aboard the vessel and were promptly captured by the pirates, who had disguised themselves as Navy personnel. The Drakeslayers were not fooled, however, and were able to fight off the five pirates that attempted to capture them as well.   After a hard fight with the pirates, the four members of the party went into the hold of the pirate vessel. There, they freed Ribi and his men, who quickly subdued the remaining pirates and freed the slaves being held in the cargo hold of the ship, along with their valuables and a strange magical circlet. Following an interrogation of the ship's crew, they discovered that the pirates were making their base just north of Losgate. With that information in hand, the two boats sailed on to Losgate, where the pirates were handed over to the authorities and Ribi informed the local Navy men to prepare an attack on the pirates' base.   Upon arriving at Losgate, Gúrda noticed two major things. First, the canals of the city which should be a reasonable blue-green colour, were more of a greenish-yellow, not unlike the colour of moss. Second, a set of tents was encamped on the north end of the city. Having heard from a merchant on the road to Bluewater that the city was dealing with a plague of Yellow Blotch Fever, these tents seemed to be the quarantined citizens of Losgate who had caught the infection.   The party got off the boat and prepared themselves for an attack on the pirates' base...
