Chapter Three: Divergence

General Summary

Around 2:07 pm on January 27th, 2162, messages dropped from the sky over the populated areas as well as the factory for Fuyao Beimei. They said Do not believe Fuyaoan lies! They don't care for their factories! They don't care for their people! Many read the message and took it in.   James and Scoot were helping the Snippets team try to escape Fuyao Beimei undetected. As the messages fell, both men took a copy or two of them in their pockets and kept moving. Scoot was able to lead the way, first to hide the items of the team in order to help them pass through undetected, then to get through the borders to a hideout. When James and the Snippets team arrived to the hovel, they were ready to continue through the United States. Scoot suggested otherwise, thinking that there may be spies on the outside as well as the inside. James had to mediate the situation between Scoot and the frustrated John Echols who was eager to reattach his pinky appropriately.
Elsewhere Wei continued to work with Mitch Bock when they realized that the rest of Fuyao Beimei had noticed the messages that had fallen from the sky. In a moment of clarity and purpose, Wei relayed his existential dread of staying in Fuyao Beimei to Mitch. With his friend's help they decided to contact someone who had connections to the black market, and therefore a connection to get out--crazy drunk Raymond.
Sebastian was alerted to the papers flying down from the sky and exited his office to read the paper for himself. Immediately, serious contemplation overtook him, and he realized the tasks given to him by Tao Lin did not match the story being told the evidence. He decided to try and reach out to the Snippets team. Going to the guest home where they had been assigned to stay, he knocked to find no one had answered the door. He then used a key to get in and search the house to find the Snippets team. After some fruitless rummaging around the house, he finally found John's phone. He decided to look up Lily Bjorklund's number and reach out to her.

  As Lily received texts she listened to James and Wade Bescript's advice, leaning more toward James' advice. After a pause she responded again.

Who is this??
Cant tell you. I have hurt 1 of you before. Was wrong. Can I meet?

  Lily was cautious to respond before receiving Sebastian's final plea:I can help. Want to help. Please meet. Lily heeded James' advice and did not respond. Sebastian then tried to text James to see if he could help locate the Snippets team. James chose to not respond. Scoot then left to check on hi own business contact spots.
Meanwhile Mitch helped introduce Wei to Raymond. Although Raymond proved that he was a useful contact to find a way out, he also revealed his conspiratorial thinking when admitting he wanted to send a message out to his favorite podcast: The Truth Machine. However, Wei also wanted to secure a life outside of the real world, so he brought Mitch and Wei to the guest house where Pete Deyes was staying. There it was obvious that the security teams of Fuyao Beimei were busy trying to keep Pete Deyes in the country. Pete was eager to find a way out, concerned that if Delaera didn't hear word of his return, they would bring in Neutral Party, Incorporated to mediate the situation. With a stroke of inspiratio, Wei decided to text Sebastian to see if he knew a way out. Sebastian, seeming surprisingly responsive to his text, mentioned something about we have all been lied to.
Mitch realized that the dream of leaving was getting too real, and he wasn't ready to go. Not sure when they would see each other again, Wei and Mitch exchanged wishes and goodbyes before heading over to meet Sebastian with Pete and Raymond. Meeting behind Upper Deck Tavern, Sebastian admitted to everyone that he was ready to leave for himself and that the cover of being part of security would be the best way out. The group then decided to have Sebastian call three Fuyaoan guards under the guise of subduing a fight. Wei and Pete were the bait, while Raymond and Sebastian snuck up and tried to subdue the guards. The fight taking too long, Raymond ended up shooting one guard dead, while the other two were knocked out thanks to Sebastian and Wei as Pete cautiously watched on.
James and the Snippets team realized they would be spending the night in the abandoned foundation that Scoot found for them. Dispersing filthy blankets amongst each other, Lily snuggled up next to James while also stating it was merely because she was cold and wanted to share body heat. John refused to share his blanket with Wade. Meanwhile, Scoot retrieved the note from Raymond about the need to send the email before the shot rang out behind Upper Deck Tavern.
It is 5:16pm on January 27th, 2162.
