HSC: You better be ah! Out with it now, how did this mess happen? AW: As told by Mr. Tan, I get on the ferry to SEAplex the morning of last Thursday. A young hacker guy named Rei, some shady fella called BYTE and another woman, maybe ex-military, called herself Polaris. HSC: All going by many other names no doubt. What happened then? AW: Someone pick us up, take us to this man, Alexei Reznek, Bratva type. Says he's going to Sentosa this past Sunday, looking for someone to get him and his friends there. Going for a meeting with a Confed Boeing executive by name of Kapoor. HSC: Go on. AW: Mr. Reznek wants to be undercover, so we decide to bring him in through the waterways up in Punggol. Polaris, she got a car from somewhere, big corporate limo they won't search much on the way in. That's why I go to Mr. Liao to set up the trip from SEAplex up to Punggol. HSC: Mr. Liao is a good man, trusted. So how come we got reports that the waters were full of coast guard? One of your friends is a rat, eh? AW: A mole in the Bratva, guy named Vassily. I give my data to our techs already. HSC: Ah, is it? We'll see. Go on. AW: For the way out, we find some boats leaving Sentosa that Sunday night. Decide to get on one hosting a gambling party out at sea. Yakuza-run, ask too many questions. So we decide to pay a visit to their shop, me and Byte distract the staff while this hacker Rei gets in to fix the guest list. No issue, in and out in a few minutes only, no tracks left behind. Come Sunday we meet Alexei and his guys at SEAplex, 4 people altogether on their side. Meet up with Mr. Liao, on time as always, and head around the southern islands to come in from the east. Now there's a coast guard ship chasing us. We get out of sight, take a detour, come back a little later expecting they gone. But now have 3 ships waiting! For sure someone give our plans to Temasek, but not us and Mr. Liao also cannot, so must be the Russians. Well, we head across to Johor Bahru, find a small fishing boat to take us while Mr. Liao act as bait. Worked out fine, so now we're up in Punggol with some delay but still plenty time. Don't know yet who's the traitor but we're watching them closely. HSC: Next time watch closely from the start ah! What then? AW: We get to Sentosa on time. Security no issue. Rei gets into the surveillance systems, Polaris and Byte go upstairs with the Russians, I check the parking lot and ways in and out. The Russians get a table and start drinking, Polaris and Byte survey the area. Their tech guy Vassily leaves, ordered by his boss Alexei. Bit later, Byte says they have strange people up there. Wait staff changes, some suspicious guests. I go track down Vassily, find him on a computer terminal. Now you know I no good with that tech nonsense so I ask him what he doing, he seem very nervous. I tell him to see his boss, he tries to run off but trips and Polaris catches him outside. Same time, Rei helps me get on the computer, tell me what to type and where to click. Really good hacker that one! We find Vassily was talking with Temasek all this time! Outside, the Russians meet Mr. Kapoor from Confed Boeing, Byte says they talk about their business things. Suddenly there's smoke, loud bang, toxic gas! Rei says armed police are coming up from downstairs. Byte holds them back, gets the Russians and Boeing people out. He gets hurt but makes it through. Tough guy ya! But disrespectful, real disrespectful. One time I ask him about his parents, see how he become like this, and he just laugh at me! Back in my generation they taught us to respect the elders, but the young people these days. Disgrace! HSC: What then? AW: What then? Ah, ah, right. Right. The hacker, Rei, pull up the car, we get out, pick up Byte along the way and off to the boat. Got a bit of a lead, left the island before Temasek or Disney find us. Back at SEAplex the Russians pay us and take the rat Vassily. For now we leave, Alexei says he owe us one and maybe have work for us again later. HSC: A valuable connection, at least some positive from all this mess. Might be the Russians can help us with a thing or two. You give him a call for me when we need? AW: Of course ah. HSC: And don't forget to pay the association's share to Weiyuan! She'll take an extra fee to help clean up the mess you made. AW: Pay already! HSC: Good, we're done here. Next time be more careful or you won't get out by paying just a bit of cash!
