Session 5 - Parkour Off The Wall Is Always A Bad Idea

General Summary

  • The party questioned the goblin who had been throwing bombs at them. The goblin, Glar, had been hired for this caper and didn't offer much in the way of information. Grog escorted him out of the building and he fled.
  • They went downstairs beneath the Glassworks and found an old Smuggler's Tunnel that had seen quite a bit of recent traffic. Brick walls had been torn down, possibly to make use of the tunnels that had been hidden behind the walls.
  • They examined an office, and Tsuto Kaijitsu appeared in the hallway. He attempted to flee, making an excellent attempt to use his acrobatics to avoid the debris from the brick wall and evade the party. However, he slipped coming off the wall and his foot became lodged in the debris. He was quickly flanked, beaten, and apprehended.
  • Ameiko Kaijitsu was discovered in one of the rooms, beaten and bound but still alive. She was healed, released, and told of her father's demise.
  • Jayvielle discovered Tsuto's journal. In it he discovered several disturbing entries of note:
      • ... The raid went about as planned. Few Thistletop goblins perished, and we were able to secure Tobyn’s casket with ease while the rubes were distracted by the rest. I can’t wait until the real raid. This town deserves a burning, that’s for sure.
      • ... Ripnugget seems to favor the overwhelming land approach, but I don’t think it’s the best plan. We should get the quasit’s aid. Send her freaks up from below via the smuggling tunnel in my father’s Glassworks, and then invade from the river and from the Glassworks in smaller but more focused strikes. The rest except Bruthazmus agree, and I’m pretty sure the bugbear’s just being contrary to annoy me. My love’s too distracted with the lower chambers to make a decision. Says that once Malfeshnekor’s released and under her command, we won’t need to worry about being subtle. I hope she’s right.
      • ... My love seems bent on going through with it—nothing I can say convinces her of her beauty. She remains obsessed with removing what she calls her "celestial taint" and replacing it with her Mother’s grace. Burning her father’s remains at the Thistletop shrine seems to have started the transformation, but I can’t say her new hand is pleasing to me. Hopefully when she offers Sandpoint to Lamashtu’s fires, her new body won’t be as hideous. Maybe I’ll luck out. Succubi are demons too, aren’t they?
  • With Tsuto bound, the party left the Glassworks and took Tsuto to the Garrison. Kumiko and Gallious returned to the Rusty Dragon with Ameiko, while Grog, Jayvielle, and Kilgore returned to the Glassworks for a quick look in the smuggler's tunnels. They found one exit that led to the ocean, and two more paths - one of which appeared to have been bricked up but recently revealed.
  • Everyone assembled at the Rusty Dragon. Ameiko was grateful for everything they had done, so the party was given free room and board at the Rusty Dragon for the rest of their lives.
  • Jayvielle and Truett sold the goblin's gear. Kumiko remained at the Rusty Dragon to help out.
  • Kilgore, Gallious, and Grog returned to the Garrison to question Tsuto. They tried to rattle him, threaten him, but Tsuto would not be swayed.
  • Armed with the Journal, the party recovered from their injuries and planned their next move.
