Session 1: The Journey to Faint Valley and Sheriff Kubo Report

General Summary

Recap

Four bounty hunters arrive in Faint Valley looking to fulfill a bounty. The bounty notice was vague and described an issue with local traders being killed before they could make it to town.   _________________________________________________________________________________________   Whistler and Avix made their way into Faint Valley and decided to stop by the Saloon for a drink. They spoke with the bartender, George, and he informed them that the townspeople are a poor group of ranchers and are nothing to fear. However, George did say that local bandits were beginning to terrorize the town...   Once Carver arrived to Faint Valley, he headed for the local gunsmith, Pete's Pistols and Liquor store. Carver purchased some ammunition, at an outrageous price, and had both of his revolvers cleaned.   Scab headed for the general store and spoke with Harrison, the owner. Scab purchased some Cuscus meat for his Lizard, Johanna, as well as some canned goods for himself.   All four bounty hunters are made aware of each other presence when they exit their respective stores and spot each others Lizards. Avix makes a break for the Sheriff station in an attempt to take on the bounty for himself. Avix's attempt is worthless, as all bounty hunters speak with Kubo, Faint Valley's Sheriff, and are made aware of the situation.

The Bounty Details

Kubo explains that Riders (tradesmen of Desolate) are being killed on their way to Faint Valley and their precious cargo is never making it to town. Kubo also tells the bounty hunters that the Rider's bodies have been picked clean and nothing but bones remain. Kubo tells the group of his suspicion of Giant Vultures in the Forlorn. Before the group leaves to investigate the Forlorn, Kubo asks if the group can kill a local bandit group that has been bothering the townsfolk.   The bounty hunters decide to join forces to kill the Giant Vultures in return for 30 Crescents each and to be made deputies of Faint Valley.

Investigation

After a short time walking along the trade route in the Forlorn, the group finds a couple abandoned wagons. The first wagon has been deserted for some time and nothing remains except the bones of the Riders. The second wagon still contains the bodies of the Riders, however, the bodies show gun wounds instead of evidence of a vulture attack. Scab notices smoke in the distance back towards Faint Valley and makes the connection between the Rider's murder and the local bandit clan.   Seeing no vultures in site, the bounty hunters head to the Bandit camp to further investigate. Avix and Whistler boldly walk into the Bandit camp and speak with a few of the bandit clan members. They tell the bandits that they would like to join the bandit clan's ranks and are tasked with capturing a Rider's wagon and bring the goods back to the bandit camp. Avix and Whister return to Carver and Scab and relay their plan.   The bounty hunters then return to the Forlorn in an attempt to hook their Lizards to the previously discovered wagon. Their plan is to bring the wagon back to the bandit camp and ambush the bandits. As they get closer to the wagon, they see a Giant Vulture feeding on the Rider's bodies.   With highly accurate shots, the Giant Vulture is taken down without a fight... However, a second Giant Vulture ambushes the bounty hunters from behind and lands a near deadly blow on Avix. Avix was thrown from RIP, and severely bloodied. As the vulture flies around to make a second attack, it is shot down and killed.

Setting the Stage for Next Week

The session ended with the heads of the vultures tied to the Lizards, as proof the bounty was fulfilled. The group takes a short rest to recover some HP from the fight.
