High Summer 3019 - Day 23 - Part 2 Report

General Summary

Fight!

They fought of the two Ankhegs without problem

After the fight, Walter admitted that his sword has gotten noticeably bigger going from a longsword that could be handled with a single hand to a sword that requires to be held by both hands

Walter learns that his sword does not get destroyed by Ankheg acid nor does it absorb Ankheg acid like it does with the blood of any enemies

 

They check out the hole that the Ankhegs popped out of and find that there are three Ankheg eggs. Elric, the druid party member, takes a close look at the eggs and finds out that they will hatch soon. Walter proceeds to destroy all the eggs with a swing of his sword. One of the eggs had a creature that was small (the size of a dinner plate), writhing, and like an insect, until it curls up and dies.

 

Harvesting

  • Elric takes close notes of the creatures as does Effie and she takes some egg shells
  • Elric harvests some acid from the Ankhegs
  • Attempt to skin the creatures, get armor from both the Ankhegs - one of them in very good shape. 10 lbs of armor from the first and 20 lbs from the second.
 

Naming of the creature

Ankheg = Nightmare bugs = Big squishies = Creepy Crawlies = Acidic Creepy Crawlies = Willie's Bugs = The Raging Willumins = Duskhymites = coleoptera maxima  

Wrapping up

  • Elric fills up the hole
  • Walter also gives Elric his bullseye lantern, since apparently he can see in the dark now. Probably 'due to his evil sword'
  • They find their way back to Randy's Farm, told Randy that the creatures were killed and how to watch out for them. They help with the farm work and with dinner. Millie learns of some new herbs from Sandy (Randy's wife) - Yeccacory and Orange Pepper - lots of sun, fair amount of water, warm climate.[/il]
  • They stay for dinner, lamb roast, lettuce, hard cheese, and roasted eggplant, with goat milk a treat by the family. Willumin gives out some of the whiskey that they have. Walter and them share stories of life on the farm. They finish the dinner with pie and then Buddy escorts them to where the ship docked.
 

Back to the boat

  • They talk to the captain
  • Captain tells them that they don't need to worry about time. They will record the history and learn what they can from every city.
  • They tell Captain Ralamir to go to Randy's farm to negotiate food in return for what was done, and will be sure to get some pie.
  • They ask the crew about what the Duskhymite armor could be used for. They will leave it on the ship.
  • Spend the night on the ship with the plans to head to the mage tower next.
