Session 79: Rooftop Rumble Report

General Summary

27th of Deismir 1524 Continued   As the group is led into the water by the Deep One that they have tricked into taking them to the lair of Darghast. The frigid, choppy waters of the bay extend all the way out past the grey clouds blanketing the horizon. A forest of slimy seaweed crowds the water 100 feet from shore. Ghostly, pale shapes are visible in the seaweed from the surface. 60’ down, a dropoff shelf lies before a curtain of black water. Lily pauses and ensures there are no undead. They just seem to be dead dead. It seems they are snacks for later.   Those with darkvision or a light source who peer into the dropoff from its edge catch sight of a giant, carved pillar (60’ tall) rising from the ocean floor 100’ away. Larger shapes loom beyond it. At the edge of the shelf, a limestone statue of a towering fish-man with a tail instead of legs looks toward shore. The statue is of Dagon, Darghast’s father. Three leaning columns thrust out of the seabed to form a wide triangle. Barnacles and worn carvings cover their surface. Between the columns, four jagged pits gape in the rocky ocean floor. Schools of pale, fat-throated fish swirl through the murky water.   The deep one demands they remove all their things and enter the holes. They refuse and attack him which knocks him out. Then they enter one of the tunnels. The tunnels are cramped and lined in yellow, sticky mucus. It looks like creatures will have to move carefully or have worn/carried items get stuck. Karl casts some magic on Fargrim to make things easier for him. As they move through the tunnel people get stuck here and there and a cape is found. They leave the cape for now and Enna and Xeldarix helps get people unstuck.   The first area they come to is a larger space has yellow orbs of slime bubble off the walls and drift through the water. There is an exit on the other side of this larger area. Fargrim casts Control Water to get the slime out the way. Once it’s clear the group moves through the exit into a none slimy tunnel which opens up again to a larger space. A man sags against the wall, arms and legs pinned to the stone by rope bindings passed through iron spikes. He looks to be wearing a guard uniform of sorts.   Xeldarix can feel thoughts coming from the figure. When the group speaks with him, he seems to be breathing under water but struggling to do so. He has gills but they are only half formed. He pleads with the group to kill him instead of letting them feed him to Darghast. He tells the group his story.   His name is Petyr. His family and others for many generations have lived in Estinn and they were a secret cult. His lack of faith meant that when Darghast was born he only half transformed into a deep one. The group decides to make up for what he has done, Petyr will help them put a stop to this and tell the Prince of Water what happened here. They free him and use magic to make it easier for him to breathe again. The six heads of the families have special necklaces that stop Darghast from controlling them.   Petyr leads them through the tunnels. A black pit as wide around as a galleon fills the floor. The pit is a 100-foot deep trench. All sources of light dampen to nothing when placed inside. Smooth bas-relief carvings cover the limestone walls. He points down and places a finger to his lips and then points to the East exit to the cavern. Karl looks into the pit with the magical star and sees there is a rift down there with a shark that slowly circles it. The shark is completely white in contrast to the inky black tentacles around the portal.   The group quietly moves through the area and into the next space. Four worn, limestone statues of humans stand around the room. Clusters of black barnacles sprout on their arms and faces. The statues depict contorted humans with toothy mouths, slit noses, bulging eyes, and hooded cloaks. There is a North and South exit. Petyr points North and explains that is where the remaining deep ones and Darghast are. Upon the party’s request Petyr agrees to try and lure the others to them for an ambush. Everyone hides. Petyr swims back in a panic telling the group to run. This creature appears coming around the corner and goes for Petyr with a rabid hunger where not much remains afterwards.

Erin immediately swims forward and attacks the creature before disengaging to give herself space and try to draw Darghast deeper into the room. Xeldarix strikes the creature from afar with a guiding bolt. The orb bursts as it impacts the creature and leaves it emitting a pale glow. As the light hits the large white shark man, he looks up at Erin and speaks. Only Lily will understand aside from Erin. It commands her to go and retrieve an item from the other room. She loses her free will and becomes his servant. Lily warns the group Erin will need one of those necklaces as she then summons a horde of celestial spirits to harass the creature and its minions. Fargrim throws radiant fire at the creature. Kosine grabs his totem and a polar bear spirit appears in the centre of the space and everyone is filled with extra vitality   Realising Erin is about to become a problem for the group, Karl tries to restrain her with an arcane hand, however Erin’s training makes her hard to catch. Darghast turns on Lily and starts to bite at her which causes Lily to lose focus on her spirit guardians. Darghast changes Erin's orders to kill everyone but start with the spellcasters. Enna runs up and attacks Darghast. A deep one comes into view and activates his spirit guardians as Darghast bites Enna back several times for her insolence.   Erin stumbles towards Lily and Karl, attacking both of them but getting Karl in a critical position. She stuns Lily and Karl. Xeldarix flies past the big creature, disengaging as she goes straight to one of the faithful and grapples it to remove the necklace from the creature. A spiritual spear appears behind Xeldarix and pricks her. Fargrim attacks Darghast and gets a good hit in. Kosines tries to cast hold person on the creatures, but Erin is well trained in dealing with spellcasters and hits him and stuns him for his efforts.   Darghast attacks Fargrim and Enna, the water filling with blood as he eats. Enna gives as good as she gets. Erin continues to attack Lily and Karl, keeping them stunned and unable to assist in the fight. The faithful deep ones attack with spiritual weapons and guardians. Xeldarix tries to grab Erin but she proves to be hard to get a hold of. Fargrim sees how much of a beating Enna is taking and heals her. Kosines is taken back by Erin’s attack and turns into a Giant Octopus and grabs her. Darghast continues to eat Enna has she heals and Enna responds with her own attacks. The faithful claw at Enna and have their spiritual weapons and guardians attack the group. Erin ignores the octopus grabbing her as she attacks Karl and Lily, keeping Lily stunned.   Xeldarix finally gets the necklace on Erin before focusing her attacks on Darghast. Fargrim gets a good hit on Darghast and brings him close to down. Kosines holds his action to let go of Erin when she shows she is herself again and communicates this with Erin and Enna who can understand Kosines in this form. Which Erin does let him know it’s okay. Karl swims away from the tiny angry glowing singing sharks (spiritual guardians) and pulls a wand from his sleeve. He unloads 9 magic missiles at Darghast which kills him. He falls and stops moving. The faithful all cry out in sadness.   With Darghast gone, Enna focuses her brutality on the faithful. Erin screams and throws herself at the faithful and stunning one of them. The faithful continue their attacks and Enna is brought low, only just staying up. Xeldarix sees this and gives her some healing. Fargrim's holy symbol glows as he channels as much healing as he can muster into Enna. Lily shakes off the effects of being hit repeatedly by Erin, and looks around, then marks the nearby faithful one before attacking it twice.   Kosines had looked to be ready to grab Enna to pull her out of the battle, but stopped with the healing she received. Instead his tentacles slip around Fargrim to attack one of the faithful. Though he can’t get a hold of him. Karl focuses and pulls at the weave puts all of it into a lightning bolt spell. This kills one of the faithful and badly hurts two others. Enna continues to attack the stunned faithful that is nearly dead and Erin finishes it off. Erin also stuns another of the faithful as Xeldarix kills another. The faithful attack Erin and Xeldarix. Fargrim blesses half the group to help them in the final stages of this fight.   Lily moves her magical mark to the new stunned faithful and attacks them. Kosines grabs hold of one of the faithful. Karl casts Toll the dead but it isn’t enough to finish off one of the faithful. Enna finishes off one and their numbers continue to dwindle. Xeldarix nearly takes out another, but can’t quite take it out. The remaining faithful have their spirit guardians up with their spiritual weapons attacking the group. Mid battle, Fagrim goes over to stab Darghast through the heart just incase of a blood burst, but as he does so he loses consciousness. Lily checks and is relieved that Fargrim is still breathing. She tries to slap him awake without success.   Kosines' picks up Fargrim to remove him from the fight and place him behind Karl. Karl moves up and finishes off one of the faithful that remain. Enna joins the game of slapping Fargrim but even her might does not wake him and hopefully does not concuss him. Erin checks Fargrim over and tells the group to focus on the fight since Fargrim is not hurt, just out. Xeldarix does this and attacks one of the remaining faithful and it attacks her back in return.   Lily swims over to grab the golden trident that one of the faithful had wielded, takes it up, and attempts to stab Darghast with it in the head. Lily feels the world start to tilt and for a moment felt herself start to pass out but is able to pull herself together. The Octopus turns back into a Kosines and suggests they leave the body of the dead god alone. Meanwhile Karl lets loose another flurry of magic missiles to finish off the fight as he demands they die.
Fargrim floats in darkness. He can move but there is no one here. As he calls out, a voice answers from all around. After a bit of a back and forth, Fargrim learns this is Darghast, son of Dagon. It seems those who were there when Darghast woke up never taught him anything. Just fed and controlled him. In the end, they agree to be friends. Fargrim will help to show Darghast a better way and Darghast will be aided by Fargrim in whatever way he can provide. Darghast will get to experience things through Fargrim and Fargrim gives Darghast permission to talk to him after he’s free of this space.   As Fargrim promises stories to tell Darghast a baby shark swims out of the darkness. It is not the monster Fargrim fought. It is just a little white shark. Fargrim tells Darghast the story of freeing Sunnis’ people. There is some embellishing on the mysteries written on the walls and the thieves and the mummy lord and the happy end. Afterwards, Darghast bits Fargrim goodnight and Fargrim feels himself waking up.
Lily once again stabs at Darghast’s corpse and nearly passes out but Karl inspires her to shake it off. Xeldarix comes over and tries to wrench the trident away from Lily. She’s had enough of this silliness and Lily submits to having the trident taken away from her. They instead try to sort out what has happened and ensure the faithful are dead, which they are. Lily also searches each of them for anything interesting, and the necklaces. Also she grabs a finger from Petyr.

  • 5 = 6 pp, 6 gems
  • 6 = 28 cp, 8 gems
Lily collects it all and brings it back to Enna and Erin, then passes out the amulets. Lily puts one on Fargrim, gives one to Karl, puts one on herself, hands one to Enna, and the last to Xeldarix. She tells Kosines to stay back since she can’t give a necklace to him.   Erin feels really bad about hurting Lily and Karl. However, she is reassured it wasn’t her fault since Darghast was controlling her. However, she is confused why it got her and not Kosines and Enna. Karl gives a few theories while he starts to identify the necklaces and trident.   Sharktooth necklaces. They make creatures, even the shark creatures that cannot resist Draghast, immune to Darghast’s domination effects.   Karl suddenly realises that Erin never stood a chance against Darghast since she is part shark and has to submit to him. He tells the group what it does but does not share the information specific to sharks. He then identifies the trident.   TRIDENT OF DAGON Weapon (trident), Rare, requires attunement by a creature who worships Dagon This bronze, two-pronged trident has green, crawling runes etched onto its blade and haft. It’s a +1 magic weapon. Orate. You can speak Deep Speech while you are attuned to the trident. Once per day, if you give a rousing sermon in Deep Speech for at least 1 minute, all followers of Dagon who heard you gain inspiration. Control. Once per day, you can use an action to cast dominate monster from the trident (Wisdom save DC 17). If the target is a direct offspring of Dagon, the target does not get to make a saving throw.
As the group tries to discuss what to do with the bodies Fargrim wakes up. Fargrim wants to give Darghast a proper burial and will carry him when they leave. He tells them he spoke with Darghast and tells them a little of what was said. Lily casts Augury to see if this is a good idea or not. However it doesn’t seem to be a good or bad idea. Fargrim wraps up the body in his bedroll before the group heads North to see what was in the room that the faithful and Darghast were in.   The tunnel leads to a stone door which is open. Inside is some sharp looking coral which has bodies of the villagers on them. At the back is a large cage with an open door. There is a lever behind the cage. Karl looks to see if they’re all dead. They are pretty impaled on the coral... so Karl might have some reasoning in assuming everyone is dead. Karl heads into the room to look around and investigate things by casting Detect Magic. There is no magic in the room. There are 5 bodies in here.   They discuss what to do with the bodies as Karl looks over Fargrim with the star to make sure there was nothing attached to him. They move the bodies of the faithful into the room with the cage and have a rest before considering looking at the portal.   At 4pm they finish their rest. They head to the chasm to see if they can learn anything from the chasm about closing the portal. Karl asks the questions and looks through the star at the shark that circles below.   Q: "How can I close the portal?" A: "The portal is closed by anchors removed in the chasm wall."   They notice that the darkness down there dampens light spells. Only true sight seems to be having an effect in seeing through the darkness. Darkvision cannot see through this darkness. Lily has an idea about a spell that might help and Karl asks the darkness about it.   Q: "Will a sunbeam illuminate the depths of this chasm?" A: “Briefly.”   As Karl is about to ask his third question, a giant white shark briefly comes out of the depths and tries to bite him. It then sinks back into the depths.   Q: "Can I dispel the darkness permanently?" A: “No.”   They ask Kosines to convince the shark to leave and he will try. Kosines swings down and the brief lighting up shows the shark is now aggravated as Lily casts her sunbeam spell. Xeldarix uses her wings to swim faster and holds an attack. Kosines tries the Animal Friendship spell but the shark is too smart for the spell. Fargrim swims down as fast as he can with Lily and Enna. The shark attacks Kosines. Erin moves with Karl since she has limited sight. Those level with the portal can feel the current moving and the water is no longer calm down here.   Xeldarix continues down 15 more feet and looks for a source or cause of the water disturbance but she can’t tell what is causing it. Kosines switches to trying to dominate the shark after apologising to it, but fails. Fargrim has had enough and casts hold monster on the shark which makes Kosines panic in concern for the shark being about to breathe. Fargrim tells the group to stop it falling into the portal. Lily swims down and ignores the shark situation as she looks for runes or anything that seems like it could be an anchor. Lily can see something metal with a gem in it embedded in the wall. She directs Karl’s attention to it.   Enna swims up 10 feet and over 20 to get on top of the shark to try and grab it, but she can’t get a good grip to keep it from sinking. The shark falls through the portal and the water starts to cool rapidly around it now. Hearing Lily, Erin swims towards her and pulls Karl along with her. Erin gets Karl to the right level but she's gone a bit off to the right which puts Karl right below Xeldarix and next to Lily. Looking over the anchor, Karl thinks about what he knows about portals. Karl would put a safe bet on destroying them. It could be by crushing, dismantling or fine care of removing runes. However it looks like they are really sturdy and might take a lot of effort or a combined effort. Karl does not believe removing them will solve everything. Though that might make it easier to access different parts to destroy. He tells the group this.   The water around the portal is now having fragments of ice in them, meaning Enna and Kosine who are the lowest are being pelted by them. Xeldarix goes over to join Karl and will summon her shortsword and attack the anchor with it. Kosines prays for the creature as he tries to find another anchor, but is very distracted by the idea it might drown as it is. Fargrim and Lily spots another. They point them out to the group. Enna moves up to smash the one Fargrim pointed out.   Karl teleports to the corner opposite Lily with a Misty Step. He looks around and finds another anchor. The cold continues to radiate and pelt up in the area. Only Enna is low enough to be affected by them but is able to endure it for the most part. Xeldarix and Kosines damage their one while Fargrim finishes off the one Enna was attacking and afterwards Enna moves away to attack the one Karl is at. Lily swims back towards the middle of the cavern to make sure her light spreads to all corners, then conjures a thorn whip to attempt to damage and maybe pull on the anchor she just found. She comments on the chilliness.   Erin swims over to where Karl went and attacks that anchor that Enna. Seeing that Erin and Enna have this well in hand, Karl moves across to the last anchor. Karl is going to try to disable this anchor by removing the runes or whatever arcane energy is allowing it to power the portal. Some of the runes are disabled but for now it still seems to function. The chill is rising up in the chasm and is now affecting everyone. Xeldarix destroys an anchor before swimming over to Lily’s one. Fargrim and Kosines swims over to Karl. He will try to pull out bits and pieces carefully to dismantle it as he doesn't want to start chopping at the one Karl is carefully working on, while Fargrim takes the whole time to get there.   Lily and Enna destroy an anchor. Erin swims up, not being sure what is happening since everything is out of her blindsight range. Karl nearly disables his anchor as a black tentacle wipes out and grabs Erin's ankle, trying to pull her into the portal. Erin is able to hold her ground but the thing is very attached to her. The cold is affecting everyone but Lily. Xeldarix flies over to pull Erin out of the tentacle’s grasp and drag her 10 ft up in the water. Meanwhile Kosines continues to pull apart the anchor he’s working on with Karl. Lily and Karl work together to finish dismantling the anchor. The shark can be seen swimming up on the other side of the portal just as it closes. The Darkness clears but three blue toads sneak through the portal just before it closes.   Not taking any chances, Xeldarix engages and attacks one of the toads. Kosines focuses on healing the team so they can deal with these issues quickly. The toads claim in Abyssal to not be here for Xeldarix and demand she moves as they attack. Fargrim and Enna swim towards and engage the toad Xeldarix is attacking as well. Two of the toads get to Erin and demand that she come with them while doing a lot of damage to her. Erin reacts by attacking them and stunning both them. Karl sends out a magic missile and nearly kills one of them. Xeldarix follows up with an attack to finish that one before swimming over to Erin to help her out.   Kosines does not like these things and becomes a giant octopus as a response before swimming over. Lily swims over as well and attacks, getting a critical hit in on one of them and smiting them with Xeldarix’s power. Everyone piles in. With Enna and Erin working together they kill one of the toads. Karl sends another wave of magic missile out and with Xeldarix’s help this one is also killed. One of the toads explodes into fire, which doesn’t do as much damage under water, another explodes as a wave of force hits people around them and the last is a necrotic cloud.   They swim out of the chasm and back to the bodies. They want to look into finding an egg that Darghast might be reborn in. Erin mentions her ankle feels off as they do a check in. Then Erin and Enna investigate the last tunnel and it leads outside. Afterwards the group starts moving the bodies to the shore. They collect all the bodies they can find to take to the shore. By 5:30pm they have collected 23 bodies on the shore. Enna grabbed the cap from the slime tunnels. Lily realised the body of the deep one that took them down there was gone. The team immediately believes the deep one has the egg that they believe Darghast is in. Lily scrys on him. Lily then uses her sending in her ring to convince him to come back.   Lily, Karl, Erin, Enna and Kosines head back down to the lair to wait for the deep one to return while Fargrim buries the bodies as they are too wet to burn currently.
As the water teams heads down, they head down as quietly as they can to find places to hide for this deep one. Then they wait.
Fargrim starts digging graves while the others are gone near the docks. He does this until 7:30pm where 15 of the bodies will fit in the mass grave and starts to bury them.
At 8pm Lily and Karl see the deep one slowly returning, looking around cautiously. Lily goes out to confront him. They talk about what has taken place here and he is given a second chance at life. He reveals there is no egg with Darghast. Darghast is dead. Then they message Fargrim to update him and promise to be back soon to help him before they explore the last tunnel. They take their time to avoid the sticky walls and go very slowly.   At the end of the tunnel they come to a room. The 25x35 ft wide room has stone walls all around it as the group comes out of the sticky tunnel. Every inch of the stone walls and ceiling are covered in carved, realistic reliefs of hundreds of sharks. The double doors to the south shift and undulate slightly. The group looks around the room carefully. Lily finds the detailed shark carvings are in all sizes and poses. Some are full profiles, some just a face jutting from the wall. One small carving has an arm sized hole reaching into its gullet. Inside is a recently severed human hand clutching a star-shaped sapphire pendant. Karl notices that scorching hot water seeps through the doors’ seams. It causes the doors to appear to waver.   Lily uses her thorn whip to get the pendant. Takes a few goes but she gets it. Lily hands it off to Erin and they talk about having Kosines stay here since the rest of them can withstand heat better.Enna and Erin pull at the doors and they slowly open. Boiling water pours into the area.   In the new room a statue of a serpentine beast with neck fins and dozens of clawed legs looms high overhead. It glows red-hot, as if it were iron heated by flame. The scorching water swirls and churns in turbulent eddies. A sparkling layer of gold coins and gems covers the floor.   They go about collecting the treasure in the room. However, the heat of the water was boiling them slowly. Karl casts a freezing sphere in the room to try and counter the heat. However, this seemed to awaken the petrified creature that was the statue at the end of the room.
The group instantly attacked the creature. Erin controlled it with stunning strikes and everyone else unleashed their attacks, however the boiling element of the water seemed to be coming from this creature. It also hurts to attack the creature. Once they dispatch the creature, the temperature of the water returns to normal. Karl grabs a few shards of the egg shell that survived.   Karl knows it is a Remorhaz. From beneath the snow and ice bursts a Remorhaz in a cloud of steam, its body pulsing with internal fire. Winglike fins flare from the back of the creature’s head, and its wide mouth brims with jagged teeth. Typically live in cold areas and don't breathe water... so interesting it was down here.   Scattered around the floor are: 400 gp, 3 bloodstones, 2 pieces of red coral, and 5 pieces of moonstone.   They head back to the shore.
At 8:45pm the group returns to Fargrim. They tell Fargrim about their time down there. Enna goes to check to see if the current that got them here went both ways or if it was a one way trip and they need to find their own way back.   Karl, Lily and Fargrim bury the last few bodies. At 9:05pm they finish this as Enna returns and says the current that got them here is gone. Lily gets a sense for the direction of where the boat is anchored and Fargrim sends the details to Wave. The ship will sail overnight to their location. Karl spends some time identifying the magical items they have. One is a ring of Evasion, another is a cloak of Manta ray and the last is a potion of superior healing.   They arrange their watches after getting settled in the abandoned homes of the town.   28th of Deismir 1524   Lily and Fargrim get up at 6am. Lily goes out to see Erin is on watch with Kai. The ship is visible on the water. Apparently Wave nearly ran the ship aground overnight. Then Lily starts her day by meditating. Fargrim gets up and looks around the town for supplies to cook breakfast for the group.   At 7am Karl gets up as Erin, Lily and Xeldarix train a little in the morning. Half an hour later Fargrim finishes cooking breakfast. Then Lily starts a ritual to bring Petyr back with his finger as the material. After an hour the body rebuilds itself into a Khinasi man. The group goes and finds him some clothes to dress him in before healing him a little to encourage him to wake up.   At 10am they head onto the ship and Fargrim takes a look at Erin’s ankle that is still bothering her with Karl while Lily stays on deck with Wave to do a bit of training with the ship’s weapons. Karl has a mental conversation with Uqaviel. He confirms Erin is void touched and the ankle is related to this issue. Then they head into the cabin for a bit of privacy to look at the ankle.   Fargrim looks it over the ankle carefully. There is a black mark that starts at the ankle and wraps up the calf. The skin looks irritated but overall, it looks perfectly healthy. If Fargrim didn't know any better, he would have thought this was a tattoo. Fargrim tries greater restoration on Erin. The mark moves and squirms before the skin grows more irritated. Erin winces. Fargrim tries again and with Xeldarix’s help, Fargrim is able to call on enough of Haelyn’s light to get some success. Erin let's out a cry and grabs her leg, a look of pain across her face as the black flails around before it slowly dissolves and she relaxes a little. A sigh of relief is released.   Erin is recommended to rest and Karl stays with her for this. Fargrim leaves to go take up duties with Ten.
Karl takes the time to comfort Erin. He tells her stories of his time in the forge with a broken arm and another time with broken fingers. They talk of future plans and options after they finish with the prince. Their musing are interrupted by a knock at the door and Kai turns them away. Ten wanted to do his daily inspection, but Erin wasn’t in the mood for it. Karl and Erin lay down for a nap together.
Fargrim goes down to see Ten. They talk for a bit before it’s time to do the daily inspection of the ship. This takes an hour to go top to bottom. Erin's cabin is skipped after Kai turns Ten away at the door. Upon learning about what happened with the Captain’s ankle Ten seems put out that he was not asked for since he is the ship’s medic. Fargrim reassures him that it wasn’t personal, just spur of the moment action. After another hour they are done and Ten retires to his quarters. Fargrim checks in on deck with Wave.
After a two hour nap Karl gets up and casts private sanctum. Then he starts to scribe while Erin sleeps.
At 2pm there is the sound of a whistle that goes out across the ship as the ship drops its anchor. Everyone is gathered on the deck. Karl and Lily ritually cast water breathing on everyone, including the crew. They discuss the treasure and to take extra sacks for it.   Once the ritual spells are complete at 2:30pm the group leaves for the water Prince’s court. At 4:30pm they approach the palace. The group is led back to the court by Enna. There are nobles dancing, a feast to the side and on his throne, the prince sits. He leans forward as the group enters and announces the return for the court. He demands a retelling of the tale of what happened.   Each member adds to the tail in their own way:
  • Enna gives a very basic version of what happened with many gaps.
  • Fargrim gives more detail about Darghast and his current status in connection with Fargrim.
  • Karl presents the shards of Darghast’s egg and gives details about the portal, which includes possible connections to the void.
  • Lily fills in the remaining details.
  • Petyr tells the Prince of the generational cult within the town and what happened when Darghast was born.
With all the done, the prince repeats the terms of the deal to ensure the group is happy with it. At this time they realise that they forgot the muteness. Enna is asked to be the Prince’s champion before he readies himself to help Erin. She refuses and as a result Erin is turned into a fish

Karl looks through the star and confirms that he can see Erin’s original form within the fish. He says he could remove it and the Prince almost dares him to try. The Prince explains he did not get what he wanted so now everyone can share in his disappointment. Karl tries to tempt the Prince to take him as a champion in Enna place but unless Enna is in the mix, since they have all earned the title with this mission, then he will have no champions. While the group talks this over with the Prince, Erin swims and hides in Karl’s robes.   Lily pulls Enna aside for a chat. They talk over what Enna fears will happen if she becomes a champion as Lily gets a better sense of the history between Enna’s family and the prince. Lily seems to see the Prince’s intelligence behind the move and doesn’t believe he is so shortsighted that he would chain Enna to a throne, which soothes Enna’s fears a little. They agree to talk to the Prince and Lily will act as Enna’s interpreter since she doesn’t seem to have a lot of courtly social grace.   Enna is allowed to keep her freedom and life style. From time to time she will be requested to help with problems that arise. The Prince will ensure the messengers have as much information as he can give at the time. Erin’s ship will continue to receive the protections that it has from the different tribes seeking Enna out politically. Afterwards Lily pulls Petyr aside once she hears he will receive a trial here.   Lily and Petyr talk about a possible option for his future. She tells him of the temple that follows Xeldarix and how he could atone there by helping that community. Petyr agrees, especially once he hears he would not have to be religiously involved with the community. Petyr is concerned about Fargrim since Darghast was not a god of good. It was one of the reasons he had problems with his faith within the cult. Afterwards Lily and Petyr return to the group and Prince. Meanwhile Karl is gently coaxing Erin out of his robes and she moves to hide in his hood.   Lily requests that the Prince consider Petyr working to atone as a part of his trail and as an outcome. She tells him about the community that Petyr would work in. Lily agrees to take responsibility for Petyr if his sentence is that of atone. The Prince says it is servitude but Lily doesn’t see it that way. The Prince says he will try not to have the trial go past sunset and send him back to where the ship is docked currently. The Prince tells them all to kneel. They all do so. Karl corrals a panicking fish to be next to him. The water around the group starts to swirl and bubble, growing warm like a pleasant bath. When the water clears, those without gills have them as they are now Shaped by Water.
As a creature shaped by water, blessed by Ben-Hadar, you have absorbed some of the power of the elementals. When you use any of the traits your blessing becomes obvious. Water, liquid and moisture seems to float and twist around you, sometimes even puddles parting or rain stopping to float around you. It bestows:   Shape of Water. You gain the ability to cast Shape Water at will. Then Create or Destroy water once per long rest. Watery Form. You gain gills which gives you the ability to breath in water. Your forms finds it easier to navigate in the water as you gain a swim speed equal to your standard movement. If you already have a swim speed you gain an extra 30 ft to your swim speed. Once per long rest you can become water itself. In this form you can be in the same space as another creature until the end of your next turn. Water Spout. As an action, you can summon water to the palm of your hand, spraying a 30ft cone out from this point. All creatures within it make a dex save. On a fail they will take your level in terms of bludgeoning damage and be pushed back 10 ft. On a pass they will take half the damage and no movement.
Erin is also herself again with the collar gone. She keeps touching her neck and looks stunned. The group is asked to wait outside while the Prince talks with Fargrim.
Outside the group Lily and Karl talk. Lily is concerned about this whole deal with Darghast and was unaware until now the portal was to do with the void. Karl wants to research the void. Lily is concerned about this and wants to make sure there is a plan to incapacitate Karl if needed due to the nature of the research. Karl understands this is in case the void takes him and suggests the practice rooms at Brechlen in the mage guild or doing it with Miss Berry.   Erin is distressed at the prospects of something happening to Karl, especially as just getting back to the point of being able to see him properly again. Karl reassures Erin that this isn’t their next step and would be just precautions.   Uqaviel is consulted about the possibilities of anchors being placed with their latest encounter with the void. He reassures the group this has not happened yet.
Inside the court the Prince and Fargrim talk. Fargrim tells the Prince what happened when he stabbed Darghast in the heart and the conversation that they had together as a result. Fargrim says that it wasn’t fair for Darghast as really, despite his size, he was really just a child. The Prince warns that demi gods born of one nature don’t change to another nature. Fargrim defends Darghast. Fargrim believes if he breaks the connection that Darghast will definitely be everything the Prince says. At least this way he has a chance to change.   The Prince calls Darghast a god of gluttony. He warns Fargrim that if he is corrupted by this god and the connection, he will send his people to deal with Fargrim. Likely his champions will be who he calls on. Understanding this, Fargrim is allowed to leave.
As the group asks Uqaviel about anchors, Fargrim comes out. Karl tells Lily about how Fargrim dealt with the void affliction with Erin’s ankle. Lily then moves to looking Fargrim over for new marks but Fargrim shoos her away and explains that the Prince gave him a warning before sending him on his way.   The group heads back to the ship, stopping first to get the treasure on the way. It looks like between everyone we will be able to carry out the 320 pounds of coin, the hide that was left behind and the greataxe that was hidden beneath all the coin. There are also 17 gems. It takes half an hour to divide it up.   By 7pm the group has returned to the ship. Erdad is waiting for them anxiously with food ready in the Captain cabin. Karl starts identifying the greataxe while the group talks about next steps and eats. Lily wants to take Petyr to Brechlen and check in with June in Poden. She suggests that Karl take the time now to claim his place of power. Fargrim and Lily can spend the time researching. They have plenty of topics from Thanes to demigods to contracts. They could learn something about Ten and what happened with the lightning. Erin wants to stop at a port to make sure they have everything they might need to head to the place of power.   Enna reveals that the Kraken lair had 16000 gold and the Darghast lair had 400 gold. This does not include gems. Fargrim asks Karl about why Ten wasn’t brought into help with Erin’s ankle and it seems he was not left out intentionally. Fargrim wishes for them to use Ten next time. Apparently Ten has been a bit sensitive since he perceived that his god rejected him.   Great Leviathan. Great Axe Attunement Required The axe can also be used as a ranged weapon -- As a bonus action you can recall the axe from wherever it is. Proficiency with a greataxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.   Karl shares what the Great Axe can do and that Cuiracrean did not reject Ten. They contact Simone about doing a reading and brainstorm a question as Karl identifies the armour.   Hide +5   It is revealed through the discussion that Lily and Karl were responsible for the lighting and it was not Cuiracean. Fargrim wasn’t aware of this before now and is very upset with the pair. He holds off until Simone can get back to them with an answer as she seemed busy at the time. Lily brings up that they will need to look for some information to help them get to hell and back.   After that thought Lily heads out to wait on the deck for Petyr, Enna and Kosines head below and Fargrim goes to the infirmary while they wait for Simone’s reply.
Fargrim spends time just thinking about what to do at Brechlen, Poden and Archestuel, coming up with check lists for things to get done. Then he hears from Simone at 8:30pm. She gets him to write it down.   “False information has led to false beliefs of his state as a Cleric to a chaotic god and as a result this false counsel has influenced how Ten sees himself. For Ten this is a turning point in his life. His courage to take what he believed a god gave him was not from a lack of fear, but now fear grows. Ten was experiencing a spiritual awakening, but with his faith in himself shaken he might not achieve it next time. Someone needs to be the bigger person in the situation to best guide him with what was happening.”   Then he tells Karl via the stone he’s coming up before grabbing Lily on deck to head back to Erin’s cabin.
Lily heads out on deck and she helps the crew while while watching the sea for Petyr. At 8:30pm there is movement in the water. Lily lowers a rope ladder for Petyr and he climbs aboard. She gets him situated as Fargrim grabs her to head to Erin’s cabin.
Karl and Erin talk about what has happened. Erin is a little overwhelmed at the moment. Her vision is so bright and colourful that she is easily distracted. Overall she feels more grounded in reality now she can see. They discuss the possibility of going to Trie since Karl wants to deal with a rude mage there but in the end they decide not to. This leads to discussing how Karl killed Albrecht and the different ghosts that make up bad luck. Then Karl gets a message from Fargrim to say he’s coming back up.
At 8:35pm Fargrim and Lily return to Erin's cabin. Kai answers and asks for a password as he has been doing for the last few weeks. Karl dismisses Kai with telling him no one knows the password and gets the door himself. Kai confesses there is no password and was just having fun. Karl is taken back as he thought the password was “Kai’s a pretty bird” but it seems Kai just liked that response so he let Karl in.   Fargrim shares the prophecy. Karl feels really bad hearing this and they decide they need to tell Ten about this. Ten is on duty on the deck and Erin takes his place so he can come and talk to the group privately. When Ten comes in and they explain what happened with Ten’s lightning incident. Ten is a little overwhelmed and cannot commune with Cuiracean since it is beyond his abilities. They apologise and explain they will help him look into his past as it might tell them more about what happened. Ten is very quick to focus on the Captain’s health rather than his own issue.   Fargrim walks Ten back out onto the deck at 9pm. Karl and Lily go out onto the deck as well. Lily sets up to do a bit of scrying while Karl goes over to Erin who is just staring at the moon. Fargrim and Ten go up to the helm, though the ship is still stationary and hasn't seem to have been given orders to move yet.   Karl and Erin talk about all the things she is enjoying looking at now like Kai, the moon and the stars. Karl tells her about the outcomes of the chat with Ten. There are a number of nearby ports with temples to Cuiracean which Erin will take into consideration when selecting a port. They check in with Ten and learn that Peytr is onboard now.   Lily tries scrying on Lorenah after failing to do so on Wellmore. Lorenah is looking over a map of the bay. She seems to be looking at Brechlen a lot. There is a notebook nearby that has Brechlen and Saarmen with dates next to the locations. Lily considers this and those dates do match some of the times Lily has been in the cities but don’t seem to be exact. The one for Saarmen has a larger time then when Lily was there last month. Lily realises these times match when Erin was in this cities. Brechlen is marked 17/6-22/6. Lorenah gets out some navigation equipment to start measuring to different ports and writing down dates next to those ports. Once the scrying ends Lily heads over to see Karl and Erin.   Fargrim and Ten at the helm talk about Karl and Lily being agents of chaos. Ten is sad because if they planned something like this again he would not get the same outcome, though Fargrim says he wouldn’t allow it anyway. Fargrim considers that he is probably a limiting factor in Ten’s exploration of Cuiracean. He isn’t comfortable with chaos with his background in the military. Fargrim talks about how good it was they had this chat before attacking Ten.   Meanwhile, Lily, Erin and Karl there is a sharing of what Lily observed in the scrying. Karl decides he needs to learn how to scry now they have this information. Partway through this exchange they notice Fargrim beating up Ten and Ten only able to get a hit in by zapping him back as a reaction. Erin is so confused and Lily runs over to the pair. Fargrim had been dominating the fight and Ten only yielded because the others noticed. Fargrim heals Ten up.   Lily is annoyed that she has to be the one talking sense into people. Ten follows this conversation through and ends up turning it back on Lily as if it was always a lesson to Lily about her actions.   They all head to bed at 10pm.   29th of Deismir 1524   Around midnight, everyone is awoken to feeling the boat shake and come to a stop. Everyone heads to the deck to learn the ship has run aground. Erin, Karl and Lily head down to check on the ship while Fargrim stays on the deck to talk to Ten. It seems they hit a coral reef and the damage is extensive enough that they need to stop and fix as much as they can before limping to a dock. Erin arranges the crew to be half on watch and half on water monitoring duty. Karl will prepare spells to help in the morning. They all head back to bed.
Lily wakes up at 4am to a massive storm which is not helping the boat's current level of damage. Lily climsb up to the crows nest and sees the storm is natural. As she climbs up she sees an abandoned ship next to this one, not on the coral reef. The crew member in the crows nest says they attacked overnight, figuring the ship was easy pickings but the Captain went in and wrecked shop. Lily then keeps watch while waiting for other to wake up.
At 6am Fargrim and Karl wake up. They both go about preparing for their morning. Hearing the rain and thunder of a storm around them, when done preparing his spells, Karl casts control weather to lessen the weather. By 7:10 Fargrim is on deck and Karl has stopped the rain.   Erin tells Karl about the other boat. It had cotton and slaves. They will need to drop them off at a port. Erin lost her temper upon finding the slaves and killed the crew.   Training is cancelled due to needing everyone on hand to get the boat off the reef and deal with the damage. Lily calls manatees in for help. Between the dolphins and a few larger octopus that Erin, Enna and Kosines are able to call, they are able to get get the ship off the coral reef so Gustano can start repairs at 9am. Erin gets Kosines to make them a temporary dry dock while they see Lily and Fargrim off. Erin pulls Lily aside before she gose to give her the shares that they are owed. Lily is given the Axe to sell as a part of her share. Xeldarix is given 4804 gems 196 gp for her share.   They all say their goodbyes and at 9:30am Lily, Karl, Xeldarix, and Petyr leave via the flying ship.
Lily navigates the boat with Fargrim, Xeldarix and Petyr. Lily heads SW and heads out across the bay. By 11:30am they are over an island in the middle of the bay with nothing else around it. They continue SW until 1:30pm when they reach the West side of the bay. After flying around a little here they start to head back the way they came since Lily is more confident she’ll be able to find their way back that way. She has already mapped out a fair bit of the East section of the bay and would rather return that way. So they fly back towards the Zweilund islands via the leylines.
Karl helps out with the crew as they do their best to make some speedy repairs with Kosines makeshift dry dock. By noon it is repaired enough to limp to the nearest port that is best suited to their needs. Erin has decided that Lichstadt of Zweilund is their best bet with the slaves now.   Erin explains to Karl that he will need to keep his head down. Most ports here are not friendly. If the Island Mage realises another powerful mage is in the area there will be trouble. Karl promises to stay in an inn and not cause trouble. The island mage plays both side of the bay fight. Pirates and lawful navy. Both will be in the area but they aren’t permitted to attack one another while in his domain.   Karl has heard of Colin. He knows he’s a half elf mage that travels the bay with a lot of sources to his name. The slaver ship Erin dealt with overnight had a few items that she wants him to look at while they sail. A staff and dagger. The dagger isn’t magical but the staff is. He identifies it as a Staff of Fire. They then look over the ledger together as Erin puts Karl back down for shares.
By 4pm Lily and Co have arrived back over the lonely island before heading back to the chain of islands and reach the bottom of it at 5:45pm. They follow the chain up in a NE directions. By 7:30pm they have made it to the mainland on the East side of the bay.
At 7pm the boat limps into port. Erdad doesn't do dinner as the port will be available for food. She is more focused on mothering the slaves on the other ship. They will direct them towards a navy ship and allow the law to help them out and do their job for once. Erin gives them each a bit of gold each. Karl changes into a set of merchant cloths that he has while they’re in port.   Erin spends an hour doing finances and ledger work which keeps her busy until 8pm.
Lily and Co have spent some time continuing to explore the leylines. At 7:50pm the group starts to look for a flace to bring the boat down and find somewhere to sleep.
Erin and the officers escort Karl to an inn called the Topaz Dagger. The inn is a grand timber and brick building, with a large cellar. It was once a manor house, and has a collection of artwork. Accomodations consist of several large rooms with beds and feather mattresses. They get one of the best suits with a shared common space and three bedrooms. They’ll have Karl and Erin in one, Enna and Kosines in another, and Wave and Gustano in the last with Ten on the couch. Erdad is keeping an eye on things to do with the ship.   Once they are up in the suit Erin gives Karl 1799 gold, 7 silver and 5 copper plus the dagger. Karl tries to refuse but Erin won’t stand for it now his friends are gone. He didn’t get a share for the stuff that happened when everyone was together, but he will be taking a share for the pirate ship Erin cleaned up overnight. She tells Karl tomorrow she’ll be talking to a Navy Captain about the slaves. She’ll be Eva Coarlreef when talking to the Navy Captain. She’s hoping for a reward but might actually get a warning for attacking the other ship. Eva Coralreef has a writ from a town called Talenhaven.   Karl enquires about bookstores and wants to go see some tomorrow which Erin agrees to. They get comfortable and after a late dinner, head to bed.
By 9:30pm Lily, Fargrim, Xeldarix and Petyr settle into their campsite for the night. As they talk Fargrim finds that Xeldarix has a bit of a morbid mindset right now and doesn’t want to talk about it. They sort out watches and head to bed.   30th of Deismir 1524   At 6am Lily and Fargrim wake up to find their camp seems to have grown in size by five. Xochitl tells Lily about how they arrived in Xeldarix’s shift, they had a chat and Xeldarix let them stay for the remainder of the night. Lily conjures some berries as she talks to them with the mask. They are hunters from a Vos tribe called Kismet. They were avoiding a monster which meant they didn’t make it back to their tribe before night fell. Eventually they came across the camp.   After having a berry, they leave and bid the group goodbye. By 7am Lily, Xeldarix, Fargrim and Petyr are also on their way via the leylines.
Karl awakens at 6am with Erin being cuddly and happy she didn't have to do a watch overnight. They get breakfast and get ready for the day. At 8am they head out to look at bookstores. While they walk Erin quietly tells Karl about Colin’s leutienants Black Adara and Garth Sukenhold. Black Adara is a pirate with great renown. She is very cruel and rumoured to be in a relationship with the Island Mage. Garth Sukenhold keeps the islands running whenever the Island Mage goes for a walk about. He's not a big fan of the Cuiraécen temples here, but it is the main religion on the islands.
Their inn is in Saltreach near Ivy Ridge and Tradetown near the centre of the city. They head into Tradetown to go look into bookstores. They arrive at Bulg's Books. It's a busy book store this morning. Despite how busy it is, there is a lot of dust around the shop. He looks around a finds a few interesting books.
  • A history book on the bay
  • The Great Extraplanar Hoax
  • Identifying Grubs, Worms, and Sentient Fungi
  • How To Live Forever—or Close To It
  • Samwell’s Guide To Blue-Colored Potions
Karl buys all five for 20 gold. Afterwards Karl gets Erin to take him to the black market. The black market’s entrance is a bar. They go through it to a bazaar which is very busy. They stop at a scroll vendor first. They have the following scrolls:
  • Earth Tremor
  • Invisibility
  • Wall of Sand

Six in the lowest circle, 4 in the circle about that and 2 in the circle above that. They’re 2500 gold each. Karl gets one. He stops at one more scroll shop on the way out.

  • Shadow Blade
  • Remove Curse
  • Summon Aberration
  • Scrying
  • Investiture of Ice
  • Magnificent Mansion
  • Incendiary Cloud
  • Psychic Scream
Karl buys a scroll of scrying and they head out to find Karl the material he’ll need for the spell. As the day goes on Erin directs them to walk in the shade as the sun seems to be bothering her. They head back to the inn for lunch. They briefly talk about what to do with the crew while they’re busy for a month. They consider mapping out the island first before possibly sending them away. Karl takes the time to identify the spellbook.   Lvl 1 Spells

  • Fog Cloud
  • Catapult
Lvl 2
  • Dust Devil

  • Magic Weapon
Lvl 3
  • Lightning Bolt
  • Magic Circle
After lunch Karl starts scribing scrying and will work through to 10pm to get his spell done. At 11pm he heads to bed.
At 4pm the group arrives at Poden. Lily suggests that people stay in the boat while she heads to the academy so they can head back to Brechlen tonight. After spending two days in the boat, Xeldarix isn’t having any of it and suggest they stay here for the night. Xeldarix is still disappointed she can’t go with Lily to the school and doesn’t like being restricted.   Lily polymorphs Fargrim into a chicken before getting Petyr onto Ohtli to fly down to the ground outside the city. Fargrim as a chicken isn’t sure he can fly down but Xeldarix is delighted at Fargrim’s new form. Fargrim nestles in Xeldarix's elbow area and gets snug as she flies them both down. The city guards are confused about Xeldarix’s pet chicken and Lily drops concentration on the spell. Xeldarix is left holding Fargrim in the crook of her elbow which results in her getting pouty. After all this they are allowed into the city.   At 5pm they find a fancy inn near the university and pay for rooms, stables and dinner worth 10 gold. They pre-order dinner for 7pm before everyone but Xeldarix heads to the academy. She stays at the inn room and sulks. She has permission to storm the academy in 3 hours if they haven’t returned.   When the group arrives at the university they approach one of the Miss Berry’s to ask about seeing June. They are escorting to Miss Berry office where they can wait for her there. While waiting they have Miss Berry look over the axe Lily got from Erin to possibly sell.   June arrives to the office and tells the group she has finished the belt but won’t be splitting her time between the crystals and item making anymore. The only reason she did was because she didn’t want to have to start again by taking a break. The druids would be finished with the potions they were working on from Falak’s blood. They give June the leviathan heart and Miss Berry ensures it will be preserved for June’s future use. With the discount June offers on the belt, Lily pays for some in platinum and June agrees she will take the great axe with the idea of selling it for the rest. When asked if there was anything they could do to help with the crystals June requests things that interact with crystals or mirrors. Mirrors have similar Magicks.   Afterwards, when June retires for the night, Fargrim asks Miss Berry for a review on the restrictions that Xeldarix has in regards to the university. They talk Miss Berry down to just being escorted by Miss Berry instead of restrained. This with the knowledge that Lily has Xeldarix’s true name and will use it against Xeldarix if it becomes a problem and a danger to anyone at the school. Lily will need to be with Xeldarix at any point when she is at the school.   They go shopping for components on the way back to the inn. When they arrive back at the inn at 6pm Fargrim enquires about if anything unusual has happened recently in town or any wolf reports and such. The innkeeper reports just a really weird forest fire a few weeks ago. Nothing about wolves that is out of the ordinary. The city is curious about the return of Inden and what they're doing in the local park. After hearing this Fargrim wants to go check in with Inden. While he’s gone Lily will attune to the belt.
Fargrim heads to the park. There he finds Inden presenting as a female with a winter look to them. With long dark blue hair with white streaks and bare branches coming out to form a circlet around their head. They greet one another and Fargrim comments on the good job they are doing here.   They spend a bit of time talking about what Inden is doing here. If the group had a business in the area to take on some workers it would be a good help, but lacking that Fargrim gives Inden 400 gold. Then Fargrim heads back to the inn.
As Lily sits down to attune, she touches base with Karl to ask about the mirror from under the Wellmore farm. Karl confirms they did destroy it.
Halfway through Lily attuning to the belt, Fargrim returns. He fills Lily in on how and what Inden is doing. Fargrim reminds Lily to tell Xeldarix about the new deal with the university regarding her going into the building. She is not super happy with this outcome and goes for a walk.   At 7pm dinner is ready for them downstairs as Lily finishes attuning to the belt and after an hour they are done eating. The group plays cards for a bit before heading to bed about 9pm. Lily stays up a bit and waits for Xeldarix.   At 10:30pm Xeldarix returns and then everyone is safely in bed.
Overnight Fargrim and Darghast have an interesting conversation about hunger.   31st of Deismir 1524   At 5:30 am Fargrim wakes up already downstairs in the inn with an empty plate in front of him about another three large empty plates to the side with empty tankards. Fargrim tells Darghast that he doesn’t drink alcohol and would prefer to avoid it in future. Someone is bringing him another plate and Fargrim learns he has stacked up a 4 gold tab this morning.
At 6am Lily wakes up and gets ready for the day. She gives Xeldarix the ring of Spell Storing with a Greater Familiar spell in it so she too can have a similar. Xeldarix says she will need to think about what sort of friend she might want. Then they head downstairs together and arrive at Fargrim finishing off a plate. After that Fargrim heads upstairs to get ready for the day as everyone has their breakfast.   Lily takes a moment to contact Karl about 9am when they are getting ready to leave the city.
Karl gets up at 6am and spends time with Erin and prepare his spells for the day. At 7am Wave heads downstairs to get breakfast for them. At 7:30am there is a knock at the door. Karl invites them in, thinking it’s Wave but instead a half elf male walks in who is causally looking around. Erin freezes upon seeing the man and Karl asks if Wave is alright.   The stranger reassures them that Wave is fine. This half elf was just very curious about someone being so well learned on one of his islands, confirming this is Colin Shaefpaete. He has invited himself over for breakfast. It seems that he wants to confirm intentions and the sort of person Karl as well as his future plans. Half truths are tried but it seems Colin sees through this. He’s not satisfied with promises of their actions will not affect him or be against him. Karl offers a collaboration with the hopes of making a new friend and Colin does seem somewhat interested.   Karl gushes about his latest pet project to enchant a dagger Erin had given him. June’s research is brought up and Karl learns Colin does seem to have some knowledge on what she is currently dealing with. One of Colin’s lieutenants brings in breakfast for the group. Colin seems to have changed up the menu to have bacon when they had been explicitly not ordering it. Erin turns pale but gets a hold of herself as she moves the bacon off her plate and onto Karl’s.   Colin is quizzed about the interesting politics of the area. It seems that both sides have agreed their smaller victories are not worth the grief that will come their way when he finds out. He offers Karl advice that he needs to demonstrate why they should respect him or it will never come. The conversation turns to Estinn and it turns out Colin was there yesterday. Karl tells him of their exploits in the last few days. It seems Colin is annoyed and needs to remind Ben-Hadar that these islands are not his business. Karl mentions negotiations, though he’s not really authorised to do so. Colin dismisses this idea as he doesn’t believe in using middle men. Hence their current conversation.   Their conversation turns to Karl's friends and Colin wants to know where they are and how they left the ship. Karl tries more half truths but Colin starts to get more serious. He had been a little goofy and friendly through most of the conversation but now he sits up and becomes more serious. Colin makes it clear they will spend a lot of time getting to know one another until he finds out what he wants to learn. In the end Karl tells Colin what he wants to know. Where his friends have gone, about their flying boat, where Karl is going and the place of power he seeks. Colin draws the line in the sand about what will cause a future conversation to be less friendly and everyone seems to have an understanding.   As they come to an understanding Colin seems to do something magically before leaving. As he leaves there is a flustered looking Wave at the door. Erin snaps at him, clearly upset with what has happened. Apparently Wave was frozen at the bar and their suit just didn’t exist anymore. The group heads down to the docks after this and wait for the ship to get out of dry dock.   As they arrive at the docks at 9am, Karl gets a message from Lily. They update one another on what has happened since they last spoke.
Lily and Fargrim leave the city and by 10:30am they’re on the boat after Fargrim was successfully turned into an eagle again. They head for Holr as Lily wants to check in with the mage there. Fargrim touches base with Simone and she is excited that they are on their way back to Brechlen.
Erin and Karl deal with ship based paperwork and are on the ship by 10am. As they enter the cabin they see a beautiful arrangement of flowers with a card on the table. The card reads:
It's been an absolute pleasure to host the pirate king. Safe travels and may our chats be as entertaining as this morning in future. Kind regards CS
Karl wards the ship against scrying. They are very grateful that they are being able to leave. When Karl is done he pitches in to help get the ship under way.
At 12pm Lily and Fargrim arrive at Holr. Fargrim is once again turned into a chicken before they head down into the town, much to Xeldarix’s delight.
They find a shop in the area that Lily had been advised to go the last time she was in town called “Scaled Magicks”. They ask for Quispe and they need to wait a small while for her. Lily does some shopping while she waits. Xeldarix buys Fargrim a set of exquisitely crafted dice, carved from the tusks of a mammoth. Dwarvish runes replace the typical pips on the sides, and glow a faint blue.   Lily’s attention is drawn to the wooden hand that seems connected to a pirate and contacts Karl about the name Alenic Miere at 12:30pm.
At 12pm the ship is underway and Erin returns to her cabin. Her and Karl talk about her eyes and how she is still adjusting. They then talk about what happened with Colin. They both feel like they didn’t do enough to avoid the danger there and apologise to one another. Erin shares a story with Karl how Colin had crashed a general’s meeting before to tell him of his island's policies, dropping a storm on them and teleporting away to leave them with a rift to deal with.   They talk more about Colin, blood abilities and history before Karl tries to scry on Lorenah. She’s at a dock with a half giant. They’re likely in Saarmen and don’t arrive at the destination before the scrying ends. During this conversation Lily contacts Karl. After a chat with Erin, it is very unlikely to actually be the real hand but instead is a replica.   Alenic was a pirate from 1000 years ago who was blooded. Their blood abilities allowed them to move a wooden prosthetic as if it was flesh and blood. He was Anuiran and his hand is an artefact in that country. Erin doesn’t think it was a magical item though.
When Quispe arrives Fargrim’s polymorph ends. They go back to Quispe’s stone snake covered tower. They update Quispe on how this is all going with the crystal situation. Quispe sadly doesn’t have the information to help them. She will keep an eye out for mirror or crystal magic. Quispe informs them that the Crichton’s are ready to head to Brechlen. Lily promises to look into that for them with her guild.   Afterwards they head up to the boat with Fargrim as a barn owl. Then heading for Brechlen.
Erin and Karl have a rest. Karl promised to wake Erin since she has been sleeping too much when she was confined to the cabin by Enna and is trying to break that habit. Once they’re both up at 2pm, they start to look over maps after moving the flowers from the Island Mage out the way. An hour before dinner Karl will skim the books and try to decide just how much of a treasure they are, because while all books are treasures, not all are immediately useful to him.
At 3pm Lily, Fargrim, Petyr and Xeldarix arrive in Brechlen at the manor. They check in with Caramella. Then they start heading out to the temple of the Lady Xeldarix. Lily gives Petyr a side mission to check in with Phobe. Petyr reveals that this should be fine. However, he would not be able to do any tasks involving harming people.   They arrive at the temple at 4pm. As they travel through the city they notice that they seem to be setting up for a festival. Inside the temple they are decorating. Petyr is introduced to Selise and starts to help out while Lily gives Phobe a secret mission to keep an eye on Petyr and make sure he’s doing okay.   Fargrim checks in with Selise, noticing that the atmosphere is more upbeat then when he was last here and if Phobe has had visitors. Simone has come to spend time with her and some people from the temple of Neira. Apparently the temple had some trouble today when a small group came by and mocked them for decorating the temple. They intimidated some of the people here. They seem to be an adventuring group, called the Saviors of Muden, here for the gauntlet that is happening in the festival. The Winter's Light are considering competing to try and put them in their place but they are still recovering from their time in the caves physically, mentally and financially.   Fargrim updates Lily on this because she is mingling with the people at the temple. They make a note to look out for them. At 5pm they leave the temple and head towards the Forged Path. When they arrive Flux gives them two reports. One from the guild and one from the cave. Bailey and Khee had been by in the morning and had left for the caves already today. It seems the Saviors came by the guild to try and poach some of their members. It seems Tatiana didn’t take kindly to them so she now knows a lot about them after investigating them.   They decide to get together a team from the guild to work with Lily and Fargrim to take part in the gauntlet. Then Lily contacts Karl to touch base. Lily heads to the manor and Fargrim heads to the townhall for more information about the gauntlet.
Fargrim gets the paperwork for the gauntlet and is unable to get information about others competing. He is given a deadline to get the paperwork back in.
At 6pm Karl has his officers dinner. After the dinner he scrys on Lorenah.   Karl’s vision is pulled into the mirror. Lorenah is on the deck of a ship near the helm. She looks sulky.   Karl updates Erin on this and they hope that means that Yura wasn’t helpful in tracking down Erin. Then he reads some of the history book. It has an entry on Colin. It starts on one page and the next page seems to be missing. It doesn’t give Karl much. He came to the islands and set up his own government and threatened the lawful Navy and pirate nation to behave near his islands or else.
At 6pm Lily and Fargrim have dinner with Simone. They talk about signing up for the event and talk to Simone about her painting event. Lily quickly catches Caramella to talk about not serving Xeldarix chicken.   During the dinner it is revealed that Tatiana pretended to be Simone at the Dread estate after the group went home and someone made a move to try and kidnap her. As a result they have been arrested. It was a high magistrate which has caused a bit of a backlash for Simone, but nothing too bad.   It’s brought up that Darghast took control of Fargrim body to go eat which alarms Lily a lot. Then Lily asks Simone to do a reading. Xeldarix also has decided that she wants her familiar to be and asks Lily to do it with her. She summons a Tawny Frogmouth are a large graded owl that has a bark like feather pattern. She doesn’t have a name for him yet but he’s Celestial in nature.   Fargrim takes some time to break some curses on the hag items.   Reading Question: “Where is Yan-C-Bin’s good-aligned counterpart of the elemental royalty located?”   “Chan, the silent one, is not the sort to go with the flow despite belief that air elementals are of this nature. She is a creature of action and enlightenment. To find her and be in good stead you much travel the plane of air and seek out evil. In doing so you will likely run into her and form a divine union between yourselves and her, as well as the greater elemental court.”   Simone confirms with Lily privately that Fargrim is hosting Darghast. Lily is concerned but wants to see where it will go. Simone getting a day off will be pending review of her festival event.   Then Lily does some scrying. First she tries to scry on Morningsteel but isn’t successful. Then she cries on Lorenah. Lily’s vision is pulled into the mirror. Lorenah is in her cabin. She’s sitting at her desk, thinking while she taps a quill. She has the map and list from Lily’s last scry. The list has been narrowed down to four port names Lily is not familiar with. Looking at her map they seem to be four ports on the Zweilunds.   Lily adds these ports to her map and messages Karl. She passes on the information to them. Karl tells them about the scrying he did on Lorenah.   Lily and Fargrim head to bed. Xochitl is posted to keep an eye on Fargrim’s door in case of midnight snack runs.
Karl and Erin talk before bed about Lorenah and try to theorise who is supporting her among the generals. Karl wants to spy on the General’s meeting. They also discuss what will happen when they reach the Krakenstaur. Karl will be able to pick the officers he wants to take with them to find the place of power.   They head for bed.   32nd of Deismir 1524   Lily and Fargrim wake up at 5:30am. They get ready before arriving downstairs for a 6am breakfast. Over breakfast they arrange for Fargrim to take the form. Lily wants to go to the Mage Guild to hire students to look into Ten’s situation.   Fargrim checks in with Uqaviel and Xeldarix about their plans. They don’t have any. Xeldarix shows Fargrim her new owl. Uqaviel wants to focus on training of knowledge, but Xeldarix doesn’t want to do it. They talk about Uqaviel how he should focus the lesson beyond starting at the beginning and working his way forward. Xeldarix doesn’t want anything to do with Uqaviel since he had used his power to magically coerce her for her safety.   Then Fargrim heads off. Lily negotiates a bit of time where Xeldarix only has to listen to Uqaviel for four days. Xeldarix very reluctantly accepts. Then she heads off as well.
Karl wakes up at 6am. Overnight was uneventful, however Erin is very upset that the flowers have been moved back to the centre of the table. After a bit of talking Erin throws the flowers off her balcony and into the sea.   They head down to start training. Karl catches Gustano to ask about the tattoos he can offer.   Halfway through training there is a loud whistle from the deck. A ship is approaching. Erin doesn’t recognise the flags. Her and Karl discuss tactics. When they get within message range Erin contacts them. They have been told to surrender and will be allowed to live as slaves. Erin convinces Karl, and it doesn’t take a lot, to distract the pirates by talking so Wave and Erin can sneak on board to check for slaves.   Karl casts fly himself with as much flashy magic as he can to keep their attention on him. Karl offers them a counter offer to free the slaves and surrender, or he will brutally kill them. This does scare them. Karl will take their treasure, but they can keep their lives and their ship. He tells them he is the Golden Flame. Once the captain is sent down to unlock the slaves to fine Erin and Wave waiting for them and they start to take them back to the Midnight Delight. They confiscate:

Karl then uses control weather to put the wind in their sails as they sail away.
Fargrim registers the team as Adventurer’s Forged and pays the 10 gold for the entry. Then heads to the Golden Tankard to find the Saviors. They are not hard to find. The leader is loudly proclaiming how mighty they are. A pair of halfling twins back him up as an elven lady at their table ignores them as she reads her book.   Fargrim ignores them and goes to order some tea and a danish at the bar, which immediately gets him mocked by the leader. His name is Marco. After a while, when Relenas the elven woman has had enough, she puts an end to Marco’s behaviour.   After enjoying his danish and tea, he goes to his guild to look into getting his bag improved. They will start now with knowing Fargrim will pay them later.
Lily arrive at the mage guild. She heads downstairs to talk to the druids first. She gets some potions to change hair and some Dragonstrength potions. The hair potion costs 10 gold and the discounted Dragonstrength potions cost 500 gold. In the future it will cost 2000 gold. This is the guinea pig price. Lily gets three and there are four remaining.   Afterwards Lily hires the mage team that has helped them in the past to do the research. She gets them 58 platinum and 320 gold for a total of 900 gold (300 gold each) to do a week worth of research. To do research about ancients things where Ten was found.
At 10 am it is time for the rooftop race! Lady Mydia is representing the Adventurer's Forged and Marco represents the Saviors. It’s a close race with Lady Mydia being a little slow out the gate. However, the event has a skilled archer who makes sure whoever is in the lead doesn’t have an easy time. She’s able to catch up and win the race.   The standings are:
  1. Lady Mydia
  2. Runner 3
  3. Runner 1
  4. Marco
  5. Runner 2
