Session 66: Banking, Fish and Mold Report

General Summary

24th of Anarire 1524 continued     Fargrim, Karl, Simone and Abigail continue their discussion. Karl waves his hand and the magical servants bring chairs for them to sit in. Simone speaks carefully in front of Abigail, constantly checking with Karl and Fargrim on what she can say. Abigail goes into detail about how she met the unchained and how they tried to put the mark that the group had once had on her hand, but her patreon removed it. The group explains what happened to them with the mark. The group continues to give her background information like who Keith Dread is and the events that happened around him and the group.   Abigail shares her abilities with the group to best work out how she can help. She is happy to try and be a protector for Simone, but also helping Simone with her book keeping of her estate. This way she will not obviously look like security. They decide to look at the finer details when Simone returns, since she is heading to Mount Archestual tomorrow and will return in a day or two. After agreeing on this, they leave Simone to get some rest.   They head out of the manor and run into Lily who is reading in her room where the door to the magical manor resides. They discuss the need to get a licence for the guild and names. Though Lily is very determined to make it the “Adventure’s Forged”. Karl offers “The Forged Scales” as an alternative. Caramella interrupts this discussion at 6pm to inform the group of dinner. She served up baked rice noodles with cream cheese, arrowroot, rabbit and turnip. Served with lavash, amber ale, havarti and thyme pie. She takes some up to Steve who is currently enjoying bedrest. At dinner, discussions continue. Fargrim mentions it might be insensitive to those they rescued to name it about fish. Karl also brings up possibly using his rod to identify things at a distance.   Karl offers to walk Abigail back, which she accepts, after dinner. Fargrim looks over cursed items and Lily goes back to reading.  


Abigail and Karl talk about her patreon. A rat had brought her a message and a new focus from her patreon. A pair of reading classes that look like they are made of fine crystal, gems and silver. They discuss recent events Abigail would have missed as a fish, including the faminine in Muden due to a curse. Their discussion turns to talking about Simone and places of power. This goes onto the missing library from the Avani temple. Which reminds Abigail of how Fargrim spoke to some of the people who were equipped like thieves. She voices the fact he might have put them off hanging around.  
As Fargrim removes the curse on one of the items upstairs there is the sound as if somethings shatter from the object but it seems fine. Nothing broken. It confused him but happened each time he did this. In the end he removes 8 of the cursed items and has 68 remaining.  
Karl and Abigail are let into the inn by Dwyane. They head upstairs to the magical mansion. A few people are in the library of the mansion. Most are in the lounge area with the fires. Karl speaks with Molly and the Giant Fighters, he listens to stories of their adventurers. It seems they ran into the strange Goblins that live in an abandoned Dwarven area that the group had run into on the way to Brechlen. Karl inquires as to what their next move is and they respond with possibly joining Lily’s guild. A way to get back on their feet and rebuild some self-esteem. They are open to bodyguard work but do not want that to be their full time business. That’s nice for a break but too much sitting around. They also are not too keen to have extended trips into the sewer at the moment.   Afterwards Karl moves onto the next group which has Jarrad and Montagor. Montagor is rather negative but Jarrad is positive. Jarrad wants to know about what type of discretion they would get to get the job done. Like how much do they have to report? Karl reinforces that they don’t want to get their licence revoked for doing illegal things. Montagor however is uninterested in the whole thing and wants to go home. They discuss finding them a boat that would be trustworthy.   Afterwards Karl looks around to see if anyone looks conflicted. The half elf (Vos/Sea Elf) that attacked Erin looks on edge. Jysdar the Drow looks like he is just done with everything right now. He looks around at people with disgust when they get too close to him. Elliot is holding a stick and looking at it with annoyance. Barrock is arguing with Emilia. He looks like he's getting aggressive while she looks like she is trying to be patient with him, waiting for him to have a calm moment and speaking gently with him. Tatiana is by herself and looks like she is brooding.   Karl selects Barrock and Emilia to approach next. As he moves closer to assess it becomes obvious they are having a disagreement over religion. Barrock is talking shit about the gods and Emilia is clearly trying to be impartial but looks offended by some of the things he is saying. Karl gets the sense that Barrock might be a bit of a problem here as others look unhappy with him and his choice of topic to talk about. Karl goes over to see if he can help. There he learns Barrock does not like the gods or the bloodlines. He worked for a guild that got absorbed by Magnet and Steel. He looks at going to see if they will pick him up instead of staying here with this guild. Meanwhile Emilia is happy to wait and see what happens with the guild before making a decision.   Karl moves on to Elliot to learn that he is unhappy with the focus Fargrim got but doesn’t want to be ungrateful. He finds it unimaginative and boring when he believes his magic to be wild and chaotic. His old focus matched that. They discuss the nature of Elliots magic and Karl brings up a prophecy that is about wild magic. However, Elliot has never heard of the unchanged. That a protector who was connected to wild magic would appear. Karl mentions a young woman who needs protecting. They discuss what sort of arrangement might be in place with the possible proposal. It would be a revolving group rather than a set list of people that work with her. A meeting will be arranged for Elliot to meet Simone in a few days.   Tatiana is Karl’s next target. It seems she’s really embarrassed about the fuss Fargrim made about her wanting the thieves' tools and the assumptions he seemed to make about her. Tatiana asks Karl about his group. He explains about what they have done in the city to remove corruption in the city but how there is still some here. Mostly because they lack proof. Tatiana brings up the danger of this group trying to infiltrate this new guild. Karl explains they want to hire someone to manage the day to day operations of the guild as the group provides funding and be the official leaders. Tatina says they would need a good security team.   Through conversation it comes out that Tatiana was a detective and was looking for a missing person when she was captured. Her skills lie in investigating and figuring out when people are lying. She can fight, but prefers to talk. The person she was looking for was Kallie Teddy, a brecht woman in her early 20s. Karl mentions the trouble he got into with Galloway about the bodies of the thieves guild going missing, however Tatiana calls him out for leaving out details. Karl tells her everything after that. Tatiana explains how to avoid getting into trouble with Galloway in the future, especially with a guild that might kill people trying to do missions. They need reports after that. In case someone tried to accuse you off murder or brutality. It protects you afterwards and makes sure you're not abusing your position. Not having that put the watch in a hard spot.   Tatiana wants assurances that the guild and Karl’s group don’t become what they are trying to fight before she will agree to possibly being head of security. She will hold the guild accountable and have clear expectations and standards. She wants a meeting once the guild is clearer to work with the group to see if she will indeed take up the role.   Afterwards Karl heads back to the manor to get some rest. By the time he returns, Fargrim is already in bed and Lily reads until 10pm before heading to bed. Before bed Karl messages Erin to touch base with her.   25th of Anarire 1524   Fargrim is up first where he does some meditation at 5:30. Everyone else is up at 6am. Karl goes to find Lily and Fargrim once he is awake. He reminds them that they need to help Sunnis help move to the mountain. Today Karl will take Fikra, Kareem, Mahdia and Simone to the mountain with the hatchling. He fills Lily in on the fact Sunnis will be able to shrink to be their size for the trip. Lily says she will try and get things in order at the inn today then. Lily says she should be put down as Guild Leader.   Fargrim shares what happened with the cursed items he hopefully fixed. He will spend the next few days working on that and feeding the fish. Karl will probably be back tomorrow with Simone since she doesn’t want to be up there alone. They decide to go deal with the dragon corpse before doing anything else for the day.   The group grabs breakfast on the way out. They leave at 7am. At this point Lily gives the library a copy of Infrastructure of Mechanus to replace what she broke. The group talked about Abigail and the Fawn Bookseller while waiting for June to arrive.   At 7:30am June and Sam arrive together. They’re both invited to go down the dragon’s lair to see about the body and harvest from it. After getting her tools and equipment, she finds out that the dragon’s body was never preserved which upsets her.   They head for the inn and arrive at 8am. Lily speaks with Dwyane as he lets the group in, checking how things are going. The group heads downstairs. As they step into the sewers and see the floor is completely covered in swarms of rats. Leading from the exit and heading for the lair. Looks like a moving carpet. Fargrim sees that there are some rats that have the top of their skulls missing.   Lily tries to walk through them but they start to climb her legs and bite her. Throughout the fight there are hundreds of rats that are killed. The group protects June, though she does her best to help as well. Though it’s very clear she is inexperienced. Sam comments that June is a lot like her father, and when Karl questions this Sam says this is for a later conversation.   When the rats are dealt with the group heads down into the lair. The discuss what to do with the dragon’s body and how to make harvesting easier. Karl casts Reduce on the body and Lily makes June a Giant Ape. Fargrim uses his wand to cast Bull Strength on June. During the first casting of Reduce they manage to move the body pretty far. However, during the second casting they doing get as far but Falak is falling apart and June is getting angry. Lily lets go of her concentration so June turns back to herself.   June gets ready to harvest. Sam and Lily help her with this while Fargrim and Karl coin coins. They get 8000 of the gold from the secret room, however there is still a lot here to collect and count. Afterwards they go feed the fishes and Karl identifies the chaos spike. Afterwards they going back to help with the harvesting. It takes 2 hours to complete. Meanwhile Lily had summoned a snake to look at the bottom of the swamp water area.   Chaos Spike. A natural crystal of amazing quality. It's drawn to magic and chaos of the world, creating wild magic zones if it should grow large enough. Often planted by agents of the void and abyss to destabilise planes. Items can be made to channel its extraordinary power to overcome magical limitations.   June is unable to get any dragon meat or dragon breath pouch as it had rotted. However she does get seven vials of blood, ten dragon teeth, six large bones from the spine, a horn, forty pounds worth of scales and two wings. There are two jars that allow June and Sam to shrink the wings down for easier transport. Karl reminds them that Wellmore had that spell. He learns it is a new item for sale in Poden.   At 11:30am the group gets back up to the inn. Karl heads off to town hall before heading to the manor, Fargrim heads to the manor before heading to the mage guild, Sam and June head for the Mage Guild and Lily stays at the inn to check on the carpenters and maybe take people down to the tomb.  
Lily checks on the carpenters who have nearly finished their first furniture piece. She encourages them before heading off to see the people in the magical mansion. She gets the list off of Molly about those interested in the guild. She gathers everyone in the library to tell them about an opportunity. A trail-run down into the sewers to a hidden tomb that may have traps and treasure. Lily promises the people who participate will get shares in this. If there is nothing there then Lily will give them a cursory payment for their time.   People write their names on paper, but the Giant Fighters and the sibling aarakocra brothers will only go if their counterparts go. So they are grouped on their pieces of paper. They pull the papers from the hat. They get the Giant Fighters and the ranger Emilia. They get their gear that Fargrim had supplied them with and head down to the sewers.  
After getting the paperwork Karl arrives at the manor at noon. He heads to his magical manor to check on everyone and see if they are ready to go. He sees Kareem first and they have a slightly tense conversation. Karl leaves him to go see Fikra, Simone, Mahdia and the Hatchling. They're in the arboretum. The hatchling is sitting with Fikra and Simone. Mahdia is chasing squirrels. Karl takes a short rest here while everyone gets ready to go.  
At noon Lily leads them down to the entrance and puts on the mask just in case, and points out the illusion covering the door before opening it. They head down carefully. Lily spots a hidden door behind the sarcophagus. Lily can see the door is trapped. She carefully disables it before unlocking the door. The door opens to reveal a hallway. It leads to a room that is full of gold and gems. Lily doesn’t trust it and they continue to explore the area. They go back to a door Lily didn’t go through last time. She unlocks the door but sets off a trap that she didn’t see. Everyone is exposed to a high level spell. Godwyn’s aura protects the group from the fear the spell causes but not from the damage it does. Laura falls unconscious as a result. However, thankfully everyone is able to resist it after that and Lily heals her.   Lily hands Molly the wand of Detect Magic. Molly uses it while Lily tries to dispel the door. After many tries she does. Once this is clear Lily is able to unlock it. In this hallway there are strange alcoves. Lily goes to check the alcoves and her recently developed Blindsense picked up an invisible creature. From there the creatures attacked.  
After collecting the cursed items and heading for the mage guild, Fargrim arrives at 12:10pm. Fargrim goes up to see Sam. He tells him the tale of Hag Island and the cursed ship and the cursed items he found and how when he prayed for haelyn to remove the curse it seemed to work but there was the sound of shattering glass. Also, there were way more cursed items than he was expecting.   Sam reassures Fargrim the sound is normal and is normally a sign of success. Sam offers to have the apprentices help with cursed items if the group wants to pay them to help with this. Fargrim leaves 10 cursed items with Sam. Afterwards Fargrim heads back to the manor.  
Lily’s group works well together to defend themselves through a combination of martial skills, Faerie Fire, and showing off their abilities. Once they have dealt with the invisible threats. Lily, Xeldarix and Godwyn heal those who have been hurt. They continue forward a little to find more alcoves before heading back to a door Lily had opened a while ago when she was last here.   Upon trying to unlock the door, Lily sets off a trap with yellow mold that poisons her and starts to grow on her. She calls upon her divine powers to rid herself of the poison that kills the mold. After this she asks Marabel to use the want to look at the door and treasure to find those areas are both magical. She decides they will need to come back down tomorrow.   Taking them up to the magical manor, she gives them 10g each before heading back to the manor.  
At 1pm Karl and the group heading to the mountain all head for the mage guild. Via sending, Karl contacts Jarvis to ensure he is ready to receive them on the other end of the teleportation circle. He is ready and they teleport there without any issues.  
Fargrim arrives at 1:15pm back at the manor to find it empty. He goes to check in on Steve. There they talk about making sure Steve is recovering, Gale knows what’s happening and her suspicions of Karl. Afterwards, Fargrim leaves and heads for the temple of Neria.  
At 1:20pm Jarvis is introduced to Fikra, Kareem and Mahdia. He arranged for a domicile for the family to be able to live in. Karl starts to give a tour of the area as Jarvis leads them to the building he thinks might suit the family. Simone is quiet and tends to keep her earrings on. Karl gives the group the run down about what he knows about the area. Fikra and Karl talk a little about Simone as well, given Karl some thoughts on things he should probably ask the young seer.   Kareem however grumbles and grumbles until Karl calls him out on this. This leads to Fikra and Kareem arguing, but the issue is settled for the moment with Karl’s help. When they arrive at the house, Karl and Simone sit outside with the Hatchling while the family gets settled. Karl takes the time to talk to Simone about the celestial that helped her once. His name was Nisroc. He went missing when she was really sick in her Uncle’s care when she was very young.   They do a reading together to find out what happened to Nisroc. They get the following answer:   “The warmth and comfort of the seer’s angel was stolen from her as he realised what she wished and dreamed for.   Much time has passed since his binding and he now guards the morningsteel against his wishes.   The seer’s angel was taken while her health was grave and if precautions are not taken she will see him again in similar circumstances.”   Afterwards Simone has a little nap while Karl scribes for the remainder of the time they are waiting for the family.  
At 1:30pm Lily arrives back at the manor. There she goes up to her room to start reading her manual.  
At 2pm Fargrim arrives at the temple of Neira. After dropping a few coins in the collection bowl by the door he heads back to see High Paladin Salma. Fargrim updates Salma on what has been happening recently. Salma updates Fargrim on how the removal of the desecrated areas have gone. They are all removed and cleared. Once that is done, he heads back to the manor.  
At 2:30 while Lily is reading in her room, Fargrim knocks on her door. Lily tells Karl how the tomb raiding went before Fargrim leaves to attune to his sword.  
At 2:45pm Fikra comes out of the house to see Simone and Karl. Karl and Fikra talk quietly about Simone’s struggles and situation. They then move on to suggesting names for the Hatchling. They seem to like the suggestion Raillath which means Champion of Black. This excites the little one which wakes Simone in the process. Fikra, Karl and Simone talk about dragons, Raillath and separation while Raillath is playing in a tree.   The conversation flows from that, to Simone setting up her household to Bad Luck. She reveals they have a plan for Xeldarix. If they find her again she will disappear for a little while. Simone doesn’t know many details though. Afterwards they spend the afternoon relaxing under the tree. Karl scribes, Simone reads and Fikra plays with Raillath.  
Dinner for Lily and Fargrim happens at 6pm. Fargrim talks with Xeldarix at the table about how she found the day. She describes it as stressful. She reveals Lily was moldy, which Lily explains there was a trap that caused mold to grow on her.   After dinner Lily goes back to reading until 10pm and Fargrim relaxes.  
At 6pm Simone and Karl leave to have dinner at the tower with Jarvis. This causes Raillath great distress as he is left behind which in turn causes Simone great distress. However, Karl reminds Simone that she is Lady Dread and he is the Golden Flame. They cannot raise a dragon. This upsets Simone but she understands. She doesn’t want Raillath to get hurt when the Unchained comes for her.   While at dinner, Karl asks Jarvis about the artificer. Apparently the artificer had tried to take one of the Jarvis’ apart. He only tried it once and also seems to be making the masetian’s uncomfortable. Aside from that he seems to stay in his hut.   After dinner Karl and Simone go stay in a house close to where the hatchling is staying. Simone borrows Aeyrn for the rest of the night so she feels less alone. It leads to a conversation about pets and Simone has never had one. It reveals another story of Keith Dread being a bad guardian. They go and see Raillath and Fikra again before it is time for bed.   Before bed Karl sends a message to Erin. They had a storm, but looks like travel will be slow at this stage.   26th of Anarire 1524   Karl is awoken early in the morning by a little pseudodragon jumping on his face. Aeryn directs Karl’s attention to Simone who is having a nightmare. Karl tries to wake her but she doesn’t ever seem aware of him. She is stuck in a vision. All Karl can do is hold her and wait for it to pass. She mutters the whole time about spiders. When it passes, Simone is very tired and Karl is able to talk to her to try and work out the details of what she saw. She saw spiders that hugged people and a mean lady who was part spider. They got Lily, Karl, Fargrim, Xeldarix and Simone. There was also a maze.   Simone uses the ring to warn Fargrim about the spiders. They go to see Raillath and Fikra before getting ready to leave to head back to Brechlen. At 7:30am Karl takes time to prepare his spells for the day. Fikra and Karl have a private conversation about Simone and Raillath’s wellbeing and how they cannot heal and grow together. So they will do what they can for the ward they walk away with today. The pair will be able to write letters.   Karl and Simone head up to the temple, Simone reveals someone is hunting Erin’s blood. She is not currently in danger. However when they find her their goal is to kill her and then take her prisoner. Karl gets a little paranoid, knowing that spider will be around today. He makes himself invisible before getting Simone to put up her hood.  
Lily is up at 5am to read and Fargrim is up at 6am for prayers. At 7am they have breakfast and chat about their day. At the end of breakfast, Fargrim hears the warning from Simone.   After breakfast Fargrim heads to the mage guild to return the axe and get back his hammer. Lily continues to read her book while he is done.  
At 8:30am Karl and Simone arrive at the temple. Simone makes an impressive display of controlling the sand to create the circle she needs. The diamond and 4000 g from Karl are used, leaving only the diamond. Simone collapses afterwards, the fatigue and weakness hitting her harder than she thought. After 5 or 10 minutes she's up for walking again. However she clearly won't be carrying much as her backpack is almost too heavy for her now.   Karl carries Simone’s backpack for her and they become invisible for the walk to Jarvis’ tower. To teleport back to Brechlen.  
At 8:30am Fargrim returns to the manor. He grabs Xeldarix to do some sparring. They talk while they sparr. Fargrim is disappointed that someone isn’t teaching Xeldarix about religion and ethics. In the end it becomes a philosophical debate as Xeldarix has a lot of questions that challenge Fargrim’s beliefs in the gods and what he thought about them. Xeldarix is very confused as to how everyone is so sure they know what the gods want and stand for. In the end Xeldarix and Fargrim talk around each other as the other doesn’t really seem to have an answer for the questioner.   At 9:30am Fargrim promises to make them a desert and Xeldarix requests something chocolaty. He goes to see Caramella and learns of her new recipe book that she picked up. She shows Fargrim a zucchini chocolate cake recipe. Fargrim notices the book is written in Dwarven. This cake requires:   Cake: Vegetables 1 (Zucchini) Sweetener 1 Egg 1 Flour 1 Fats 1 Herbs and Spices 1   Icing: Fats 1 Sweetener 1 Herbs and Spices 1   When applying the icing you must recite (singing recommended):   I have all of these zucchini What am I supposed to do? I could fry them or make bread Better yet, cook in a stew.   I have all of these zucchini Can you help me with them please? Make some cookies or a cake Even make zucchini cheese.   I have all of these zucchini.   Cooking DC 15 - Wild magic surges through this cake. A random effect will happen. Also the person who eats it will be able to cast invisibility once until they have finished a long rest. Delicious DC 20 Extra Delicious DC 25   After Fargrim finishes the cake and as he puts the icing on, he recites the poem. After the final sentence it was like very briefly, a blink and you miss it moment. The cake had a green aura. Then the aura was gone.  
At 10:15am Karl returns with Simone. At 10:30am everyone is called to try a new cake Fargrim made. Simone stays upstairs for a nap after casting Private Sanctum. As Karl, Fargrim and Lily meet downstairs to try this cake. Fargrim was very excited to share this cake until he noticed the oddness of the aura and now he is suspicious of the cake, which he shares with his friends.   Fargrim volunteers to take the first bite. While waiting to see the result, Karl tells the group about some of the things he has learned since he left yesterday. As Fargrim tries the came he suddenly feels like the temperature is 0C. He knows he can also cast invisibility once before he finishes a long rest. Karl offers to identify the cake while Fargrim goes to layer up.   While the identifying happens, Karl continues to share information he learned on the mountain. Once he identifies the cake, he shares what he learned with the group.   Cake. Wild magic surges through this cake. A random effect will happen. Also the person who eats it will be able to cast invisibility once until they have finished a long rest.   Current effect: regardless of actual temperature it feels like 0C. This can cause levels of exhaustion.   Karl, Lily, Caramella and Xeldarix all eat the cake and layer off. Simone comes downstairs, giving up on trying to nap and turns down the cake. Karl gets Simone to tell the group about what she told Karl about Bad Luck. They will make Xeldarix disappear if they find her again.   Karl shows the guild paperwork to Lily to get her to sign it. He also brings up the licence Tatiana told Karl about that would allow them to use lethal force and act on behalf of the watch. She’s a trained investigator and had one of those licences once upon a time. Lily tells the group about her time down in Hassan’s tomb. They talk about going to feed the fish, and see Abigail and Tatiana. Though they do a quick card reading before they go. Lily sees Simone isn’t looking rested and quickly looks her over. Lily offers to stay with Simone so she can try and nap again while Fargrim and Karl go out after the reading.   Question: "Where and when should we expect to see spiders ambushing?"   “Separation is natural and those who follow Lolth wish to separate the Forged from this plane for their crimes.   The danger travels and is ever moving. Your location is not important to when an ambush will occur since it is just about when they arrive on the plane since one of you is unprotected.   Today you will make many decisions but this will impact if you are on this plane by the time you sit down for dinner. As late afternoon arrives, so does the danger.”   The group discusses this a little before Karl and Fargrim leave at 11:30am. Lily takes Simone upstairs so she can nap and Lily can read.  
Karl donnes the ermine fur cloak Erin gave him and Fargrim has his layers as they try and stay warm in the middle of summer. When they arrive at the inn, they have a quick chat with Dwyane. Then they head down to feed the fish and collect the remaining gold in the secret room. They take the remaining 29,655. Karl realises the Chaos Spike is gone now. Karl also grabs three random books. They come back up to the inn for 2pm.   They go up to see Tatiana. Tatiana looks happy to see Karl but makes it clear how Fargrim treated her before had been very rude. Fargrim apologises, but carefully observers her since he is not sure if she is a detective or just a good con artist. He believes she is being truthful. They ask her about her history and she shares she had a small business. She operated under her own licence and helped the watch when they needed to outsource.   Tatiana goes with Karl and Fargrim while they go to file the paperwork for the guild. She looks over a few books on current laws while Karl files the paperwork for 10 gold.   Guild name: Adventure's Forged Guild leader: Lily Wulfsdotter Image: fish jumping over a forge   Karl offers to stay with Tatiana while she reads, but Fargrim says he needs to head back. Fargrim looks at Karl like, 'I am running from spiders right now'. Which Karl returns with a shrug and a look that says 'I can fly'. In the end Fargrim asks Karl to walk him back to the manor. Tatiana asks about what is going on and when Fargrim tries to lie, Tatiana flatly informs him that he shouldn’t lie around her. Karl is very open about the problem after this. Tatiana offers to walk them back, just in case something happens.   After Tatiana packs up the books she was reading, she returns to the town hall before escorting the boys back to the manor.  
Fargrim and Karl arrive with Tatiana at the manor at 3:30pm. Karl gives Tatiana a brief tour of the group floor before leaving her with Fargrim to go and check on Lily and Simone. Karl updates Lily on the paperwork and Tatiana. Simone doesn’t seem to have recovered at all.   Karl tells Lily that Simone used her realm magic to make a blood ward for him. So for nine weeks, no one can steal his bloodline. He gives the diamond that his bloodline is now connected to, to Lily to keep safe. She offers to cut off his finger as well just in case he gets disintegrated, but he declines for the moment.   Fargrim and Karl work on getting starting fires around the house since they feel so cold. Fargrim, Karl and Tatiana chat until dinner is ready at 6pm. Lily reads until then.   Tatiana stays for dinner. Fargrim checks the house for Steve when dinner is ready but discovers he’s not here. During dinner, they discuss Tatiana helping vet staff for Simone. However, Simone doesn’t seem very clear on what she needs. Karl thinks a tutor would be helpful for Simone. Fargrim complains Xeldarix is behind in her studies, she’s full of questions and she doesn’t have someone giving her worldly knowledge. Xeldarix rolls her eyes and slides under the table.   Unknown to the group, Xeldarix uses some sailor knots to tie Fargrim’s laces together to show them a new thing she remembers mischievously. Meanwhile conversation at the table continues as Fargrim feels the pressure of trying to deal with too many tasks. Xeldarix sits back at the table normally while conversation continues. Lily makes a point of asking Xeldarix what she wants to learn.   After dinner, as Tatiana is good to leave, Fargrim falls over with his laces tied together. Xeldarix has snuck off and seemed to notice McGregor outside had been attacked. She notifies Lily of the attack and the group springs into action. Karl tells Tatiana to leave, while everyone else heads outside to fight. Thankfully no one aside from McGregor is badly hurt as Karl and Lily banish the five retrievers and the drow that attacked them. Xeldarix and McGregor are carried inside due to being hit by a paralysing ray.   The group contacts Steve and Salma to make sure they haven’t been attacked and arranges for Salma and some paladins to join them at the Wellmore farm. That way if the spiders return, a fight will happen away from the city. McGregor and Caramella are told to stay here as it is less likely this place will be attacked a second time. On the way, Lily heals up everyone who was hurt.  
After arriving at the farm and waiting until close to 8pm, the paladins arrive. This includes; Salma, Saryea, Corey, Sandy and Rocky. They discuss what happened, setting up watches and back up plans if attacked. Then start the watch rotations and get some rest.   27th of Anarire 1524   When the morning comes round, the group has not been attacked again. They awaken at 6am and Karl invites the paladins to breakfast in thanks for their help today.   On the way and during breakfast, the group discusses their possible next steps:
  • Looking for the sending stone Wellmore should on had at the farm according to Ash
  • Underwater tunnels that Aeryn went through in Falak’s lair
  • Dispelling the fish and managing that
  • Raiding Hassan’s tomb
  • Talking with Lord Galloway about the licence in the city
  • Travelling with Sunnis.
  After breakfast Karl, Lily, Fargrim, Simone, and Xeldarix head to see Lord Galloway about the licence. Though Karl asks Saryea to come by for dinner as he has something for her.   At 8:30am they get in to see Lord Galloway, who is concerned about how tired Simone is. Galloway listens to their request for licences to work on behalf of the watch on matters to protect the city. He helps them to fill out the paperwork for the Forged about this. However, Fargrim gives false information about his origins during their process. Lily fills out most of the information for her guild, but needs to wait until she knows who will be the watch liaison. Fargrim is the liaison for the Forged.   Afterwards they head to the bank and arrive at 9:30am.Lily sets up multiple accounts. One for the inn/temple with 2000g, the adventurers guild with 1000g, and 500g for Lyra to manage manor business with when they are away. Fargrim sets up an account with 8,000g and Karl adds 20,000g to his account. Simone adds 43,400g to her account.   Afterwards Lily heads off to manage a few things while Karl and Fargrim head for the guild. She says she’ll meet them in 3 hours.  
Karl and Fargrim escort Simone to the manor to cast private sanctum before heading to the mage guild at 10am. There they talk about getting the mage guild to start helping more with freeing the fish. This involves:
  • Speaking and checking with Dwyane about making sure numbers don’t become unmanageable.
  • Be careful when going down to the sewers (retreating is always an option)
  • Feed the fish but don’t touch anything
  • Dispel fish but again check with Dwyane about management sizes as you go, but Jo’s mansion will help.
Afterwards they head to the inn with the apprentices and Sam in tow.  
Lily goes to see Selise at the temple of Xeldarix. She arrives at 10:15am and discusses with her:
  • The details of the inn and guild.
  • Banking details.
  • Asks about those who might be good at paperwork, however many here are illiterate.
  • Possible future apprenticeship opportunities like pottery and blacksmithing.
  • Getting the temple of Erik involved for learning and animal and plant care.
  • Combat instruction and getting tutors from the adventuring guild.

At 11am Karl and Fargrim arrive with many in tow. They head downstairs to check on the fish, feed them and free a few. Sadly, many of the apprentices really struggle to try and release any of them. Jackson manages one, but releases an elderly earth genasi who seems to be struggling mentally. His name is Flux. He has sparkly skin covered in tiny crystals and sparkly green gemlike eyes. He is completely bald. He is 108 years old (elderly), 5 ft, 10 in (178 cm) tall, and weighs 240 lbs (109 kg).   Karl releases a tortle names Queg who seems much more relaxed, just confused. She has light green scales and golden eyes. She is 45 years old (adult), 5 ft, 5 in (165 cm) tall, and weighs 460 lbs (209 kg). She tries to help keep Flux calm as the apprentices and Karl grab books to take up to the inn.  
At 11am Lily arrives at the temple of Old Father’s of the Forest. This is an Erik temple. In the main area, it is an open roof temple around a very large, dead tree. There are rooms that come off this area that are properly enclosed. Lily looks over the tree and can see the tell tale signs of a curse that killed the tree and the spirit attached to it.   Lily speaks with the main druid of this temple and learns a little about what they tried to save the tree and revive it. The druid is happy for Lily to try things, because it can’t really get much worse than the tree and being dead. She also arranges for some people to help at the Forged Grill, which is newly named the Forged Path, to learn to take care of animals and plants. After taking time to copy some of the runes she saw on the tree before heading there herself.  
As Fargrim and Karl head up, just as they exit the lair, they come across a tabaxi with a cart. The owner, Amusing Patch, is dressed in modest travelling clothes, and has a large backpack. She has light brown fur with small black spots, and green eyes. Her fingers are noticeably long. She is 56 years old (adult), 5 ft, 7 in (170 cm) tall, and weighs 126 lbs (57 kg).   “Amusing Goods” is the name of the cart. Looking through the star of true seeing Karl can see a creature with long tentacles reaching out to investigate the group unseen. Once this is noticed Amusing gets the cart to stop. It becomes very obvious very quickly that this is an illicit merchant. Fargrim sends Sam and the apprentices up to the inn with the two new rescued fish so they’re not doing illegal deals in front of the young folk.  
At 12:15 Lily arrives at the inn. She hears the apprentices and Sam struggling with Flux, who is panicking. She cast calm emotions. With this they are able to get Flux up to the magical mansion and into bed before that wears off again.   Once that is done, Fargrim and Karl come upstairs to find Lily while she is arranging for Molly to become the operations manager for the guild, which she happily accepts. Then they get the tomb diving team back together to go down for another go. Molly is given a spear and Laura a dagger.   When they arrive downstairs in the tomb, Karl identifies a trap using his meta magic rod to do it from a distance. However, the broken rod misfires and he identifies himself. He tries again and is more successful. To his horror, he discovers how dangerous this trap is. He successfully removes it, before trying the east door upon Lily’s request. However, this one he is less successful. Instead yellow mold starts to grow on him. Thankfully it doesn’t really take. However, it does enough damage to get around his stone skin protection from Sunnis. At this stage, it becomes obvious this place is much more heavily warded than the lair was.
