Session 24: Grimms' Prairie Tales Report

General Summary

21st of Rolier 1524 During the night the group was attacked by flock Axe Beaks that nearly took out the group's horses. Thankfully the group was able to kill them and go back to getting the rest they needed to start the day. After getting the rest they needed, Lyra and Lily cut up birds, taking 2 hours to do 2 birds. This gets the group 50 pounds of meat. 1 pound is needed for one person a day. 8 pounds needed every day to feed the group minus Xeldarix. During this two hours, Reign shadow spars, Fargrim does Clerics duties and Karl does bookwork during this time. Simone confesses she didn't sleep well and gets an extra 2 hours of sleep. At 10am the group leaves and heads for the bridge. It takes 4 hours to reach the bridge. Upon crossing the bridge Simone grows very ill. Karl helps her off the horse. She is muttering about "hunger" and "hurting" and become incapacitated with a fever. At this point four spirits could out of the bridge, surrounding the group. They had powerful necrotic auras that hurt the group. Fargrim was able to turn two of them successfully. One was able to resist and one was hit from an attack of opportunity. During the fight Lyra went down and was brought up Xeldarix healing her. Over time the group was able to destroy all four of the ghosts. Simone was given a potion of vitality which seems to help her feel better and she fell into deep, restful sleep. The group moved off the bridge and found a place to make camp for the rest of the day to take an extended long rest for the rest of the day, rotating watch. During this time the follow happens:

Xeldarix and Lily spar
Reign and Fargrim spar
Lily casts Plant Growth to try and help the land recover within this space of a half mile radius.
Karl works on his scroll work for 3 hours.
Lyra and Karl do 2 hours of language lessons with Xeldarix.
Reign and Fargrim do some translating . 4 hours together and 2 hour alones while the other does their watch (At end of report).
Simone sleeps right through til 6am.
The group does see some Lions in the area but aren't bothered by them.
Lyra smokes 10 pounds of meat over the course of the evening and night.

22nd of Rolier 1524 The next morning the group sets out again with Simone looking a lot better. They travel through the planes towards the mountains. During their travels they come across a two headed giant that the group gives a wide birth to sneak around. The rest of their day is uneventful. When they find a good place to stop for the night, the plains have started to become hills. The group contacts Steve about finding the entrance in the mountain they need. He replies it is on the highest peak. Using this information to ask Simone a question. "What is the key to finding the way to our destination in the mountains?" Cards pulled:

26 Pellinor and the Lady Bittersweet Farwell - There is a fair of lovers. The male has spun the woman in a clearing as if they were dancing. They have sad smiles on their faces. She is about the step into a pit/grave. The trees behind them go from green to orange from him to her.
8 Nimue Seek the Counsel of Crystals - There is a young lady looking into a crystal in her hands. It is pink in colour and seems to glow. Anyone looking too closely will see disturbing images in the crystal.
25 Lady of the New Buds Nurture Tenderness - There is a lady gardening. She is watering blooming flowers. Upon looking closer at the flowers, you can see they have faces. The ones in the water are smiling while the others are not.

Answer: “As you bid farewell to the plains and move into the mountains you will find relics of those who are lost. Obelisks that stand tall will give you guidance but watch for those who would infer with them. Watch for points where you will go to sleep for you may never wake up, be grateful for the help offered to move forward.” The group starts their 5 hours of down time, taking an hour watch each before starting to go to sleep where there are three watches over night. Fargrim, Lily and Reign do some more translating so two people are always working on the book even when someone is on watch.
