Haunting of Blackrot Session 11

General Summary

Our Party

Name Class
Abbott Warlock
Clovis Fighter
Henrietta Blood Hunter
Mysrie Barbarian
Yohgrï Cleric

An Unforeseen Deal

As the party plotted out a plan to engage the hideout, the vician mystic’s shadow appeared behind them. It offered to come before its physical form and coordinate a means of fleeing the Mists. It had also mentioned that the Pact was broken by the Bloodtide attacking the Cult. To show its sincerity, it offered a reading to show what they wanted to see. The party ultimately declined its offer and enraged the vician by attacking its underlings.

During the fight, the vician was seen fleeing the scene. Whoever it had within the hideout also came out and started fighting on site.

Karnell’s Appearance

Karnell came to the scene of the fight. He took only two hits before everyone scrambled from the fighting.

For Yohgrï
Karnell provided Yohgrï a vial of Erupting Earth as a reward for returning the Shattered. He then explains that the path to his freedom must be paved by killing the cael and vician of both sides. He advised to Yohgrï that if he wished to prove his wish to help the Shattered, he is to inform him about the location of where either Hallee or Morek are. Once done, heading for a set of ruins operated by the Shattered is advised to inform them.

On the Road

For Abbott

His patron Shade came to him. He praised him for denying the vician, one known for tormenting other shades into servitude. To gain a better sense of strength and to deny others would be to locate possible bloated trees. After all, where there is the Cult of Maledict, there are followers of Sidresk to torment spirits. It also mentioned that failure to light the beacons or tearing down bloated trees could mean devolving into a wretch.

While meandering through the woods, you spot something crawling on the ground. It’s slender and withered black. It heaves itself forward on its elbows and soon slumps on the side, curling into a ball as it mumbles incoherently to itself.

About 60 feet in the woods, a shade hovers on the side, watching from afar. Its presence is one familiar from the odd trip in the Mists when you left the beacon, one that interposed itself with other shadows and Abbott.

The party comes across a feeble and scared wretch in mental anguish. It was agreed that the party would end its misery through a quick death. The observing shade laughed, mocking how the party proved It right on how disposable the living are.

Abbott was clearly made uneasy by the wretch. Those watching carefully noted that its how Abbott, the condition of the wretch, and that shade were connected to how he was uneasy.

Back at the Outpost

The party short rested once they got back to the Revered outpost. It also seemed that the Forester and Ezmerelda were not back yet…

For Henrietta

The shade returned, gloating at how it dragged a wretch into view. Of course, this was namely to show how failure to light those beacons would mean devolving into a wretch. When asked about this “mutual” agreement for the shade to benefit, the shade insisted that tearing down any bloated trees would mean those other shades that push and pull spirits would fall.
