The Lawless Barony of Sathorn

A Dungeons & Dragons 5e game In the world of Raen
| Full
Since King Eamon’s death, his nephew Cledwyn has sat upon the throne, cruel, brazen, and wildly incompetent. Already poor and provincial, the Kingdom of Palthear has fallen into disrepair and conflict. Nowhere is this more true than the western Barony of Sathorn. Bandits roam overgrown roadways, monsters emerge from the trackless wilds, and something dark stirs in the ancient ruins of Andalbrass deep within the Gwydyr forest. It is rumored that the Baron of Sathorn and his line are dead, ill, or have gone mad, and the villagers of the small towns that dot the fiefdom fear for their lives. The party has arrived at the small, threatened logging town of Trent, after guarding a caravan sent to aid it. It is here that the true story begins.

Supporting Cast
  • Aechwl Ap Brynwynn
The patriarch of Brynwynn Meadery, found by the party near dead from a giant bee sting in the neck. Kind, welsh accented, slow speaking.
  • Branwen
Daughter of Aechwl, sister to Hesh, Branwen is young woman, curious and kind when everything isn't going wrong.
  • Gaelan Moreley
The taciturn, reserved, and mumbling barkeep of the Dancing Goat. Heart of gold, though.
  • Hesh
The very dead son of Aechwl, brother to Branwen. Found murdered by red vein-like vines emanating from a mysterious floating creature.
  • Lady Aerona of Sathorn
A young girl of about 12, Lady Sathorn was raised to be a consummate and just ruler by her father, the late Lord Arthus. She is young and traumatized, but incredibly prescient and knowledgeable. She understands fully the situation she is in, and the ramifications of the coup. She feels that the weight of the Barony is on her shoulders, and will do what she must to see that her demesne is cared for.
  • Mayor Codric of Baern
A squat, round, and sweaty man in a constant and failing attempt at regal finery. The wealthiest man in town, but rarely leaves his large home. Leaves most of the governing to Olia these days. A bit of a coward.
  • Constable Olia De Estriena
A retired adventurer, Olia has been stationed in Trent as a Constable by the Crown for more than fifteen years. She likes the people there well enough, but is weary of backwater prejudices and superstitions. Recently, she's had to organize the formation of a militia and prepare the town for battle, as the changing threats of the Gwydyr forest loom ever closer.
  • Pinna ap Kaeria
A young and charming hedge-witch from the nearby village of Baerwyn, Pinna is near as starry-eyed as Wendyn, though much more learned. Wendyn is absolutely smitten with her.
  • Sir Pelliton
    Craven and conniving
  • Wendyn Ap Neria
A young, starry-eyed peasant lad from Trent. He grew up a woodsman, and dreams of adventure. Recently orphaned, he views the party as his heroes.
