A crack in the sky has appeared and there appears to be another world, another dimension on the other side. No one is sure what the world was like before the crack appeared, only that the days since they woke with knowledge of its existence the world has been chaos.
You remember things, a life from your past, but you're not sure whether those places, people, organizations exist here. Was this where you've always been? Or is this a new place? You're certain that building has always been there but you can only truly recall it since yesterday...
These pesky Gods have a way of muddling in mortal life that makes everything confusing. Being able to create entire new worlds and dimensions just by merely thinking about has a way of messing up all your retirement plans. Just how are you supposed to include the creation and subsequent transportation of your bodily self into another world to your IRA contributions! I mean, do you get an an additional contribution limit for this new reality? As if taxes weren't confusing enough already....
The relationship between Gods and mortals has always been complicated and they're not prone to explaining themselves. Their powers and abilities often go beyond what the mortal mind is capable of processing. One thing is clear; Gods need mortals. Not just as playthings as they would have you assume, but need as in codependency. Mortals are capable of belief; an exercise of freewill giving ones energy to a cosmic entity. Sometimes, the belief is weak as a mortal acts in such a way that they play in the realm of idea that a God holds sway over. Sometimes, the act is stronger is done with intention to honor the deity in whose name it is done. Without belief, a God withers and dies as they fade from memory. It is the only way to truly kill a God.
And these Gods do not want to die.
