Episode 54 - Allies Old and New

General Summary

• Rooker had cast Legend Lore to find the third and final dragon shard of Zalatas. The spell revealed the fortress library of Minas Amer, on the border of the elven kingdom of Kyonin.
• Lasdolon’s attack dog, Matan'sa, was hunting the Guardians. Specifically, he was hunting Chakos (the gold-skinned elf inside Reh’s pyramoid). They also suspected that he would be hunting for Rooker as well.
• Rather than waiting for Matan'sa to find them, potentially when it was least advantageous for the Guardians, they decided to try and find him first.
• Matan'sa had taken Anen, daughter of the slain Maly, and fled to the east. Kwava was tracking him. Rooker cast a Sending spell to find out where Kwava was, hoping to be able to get Matan'sas location. Kwava replied that he now had Anen, Matan'sa had abandoned her, and Kwava was taking her to Crying Leaf where there were more troops (Celwynvian Guard and the Lantern Bearers).
• The Guardians decided to go to Crying Leaf to question Anen, hoping to get information about Matan'sa.
• After setting up camp during their first day of travel, the Guardians were visited by Rylvir, the drow chronomancer. Once inside, Rylvir questioned the party as to what their plans were. Godric voiced his distrust of the drow. Rylvir changed his shape into his true form, a half-drow/half-dragon. He confessed to being from the future, from a timeline where the Guardians of Golarion failed to stop Lasdolon in his quest to free the mad god Tharzduun. Lasdolon released Tharzduun from his abyssal prison, and the mad god unmade everything. Rylvir managed to escape just before that happened.
• Rylvir was being pursued by an entity known as the Time Council. They were in charge of maintaining the natural order of the timeline. Rylvir was hoping to avert disaster by offering indirect assistance and aiding in the survival of this timeline. He didn’t know how to stop Lasdolon, but he suggested that Lasdolon was also searching for the dragon shard. Getting it before he did could only be a good thing for the Guardians.
• The next morning, Rylvir was gone. The Guardians continued on to the Mierani Forest.
• By mid-afternoon, they had arrived at Crying Leaf. The guards took them to Kwava, who was still watching over Anen. He said he was sure that Anen had been abandoned. Kwava had tracked Matan'sa for miles beyond where he found Anen, but lost the trail in a large river.
• Telith and Godric wanted to confirm that the child was who she appeared to be. They began casting Detect Magic and Detect Evil. Anen smiled and uttered broken incantations in reply.
• Satisfied that she seemed to be the real Anen, the Guardians questioned her. She said that the bad man didn’t say much. He would give her food and tell her to stay by the fire. He’d often disappear into the darkness for hours at a time. The day before Kwava found her, Anen said the bad man was angry about something. He returned from his disappearance and said: “where are they!” The next day he was gone, and Kwava found her.
• The Guardians next confirmed the identity of Kwava through magic and Reh's keen intuition.
• Eviana Nirgassan, leader of Crying Leaf, came by and was concerned that the Guardians were back in town. She assumed something terrible had brought them, and was relieved that they had simply come to speak to the child.
• The Guardians asked if Anen could stay in Crying Leaf until they had taken care of Matan'sa. Eviana agreed, and Kwava offered to stay and take care of Anen.
• Later that evening, the Guardians visited Eviana to get some information about Minas Amer. She told them it was a large elven library, and admittance was only permitted by presenting the consulars with a rare book - something not already in the library. Rooker offered the spell theory book he had taken from the temple of Tharzduun.
• Eviana told them that she would speak with the wizards who brought supplies from Iadara, capital of Kyonin. After what the Guardians had done for the elves by assisting with the reclamation of Celwynvian, she was certain they would be able to take the Guardians to Minas Amer.
• Rooker and Telith purchased Headbands and sold their old headbands.
