Episode 26 - The Battle of Celwynvian

General Summary

The session started with a cutscene showing a drow woman named Allevrah using her magical bow named Deathwhisper to kill humans. She was discussing things with the human Lasdo, specifically what the status was of his helmet. He said he knew where it was and who had it. It amused him that they had it. He suggested that they have someone retrieve it, and she agreed. Meanwhile, the Guardians of Golarion traveled from Crying Leaf to the staging ground camp just outside Celwynvian. They met with the leader of the Celwynvian Watch, an elven woman named Shalelu. She, along with Eviana and several other senior advisors, formulated a plan where the Shin'Rakorath army would strike several strategic locations in Celwynvian at dawn. The Guardians, however, would play another role. They would be tasked with attacking the Library of Reenai, a building set on one of the main roadways into the city. The drow had been known to set snipers in the building and keep it from being used. The Guardians would retake the library, allowing the elven forces to get a strong foothold and access to a roadway they could use to funnel larger forces deeper into the city. Kaerishiel, leader of the Shin'Rakorath, felt the Guardians should protect the camp and he would use his men to take the library. Shalelu and Eviana refused, and the Guardians were tasked for the mission at sunrise. Kaerishiel conceded to their wishes but it was obvious that he was not pleased with their decision. That night, the Guardians were visited by the half-elf, half-orc named Fjord. He was familiar with the city, being a member of the Celwynvian Watch. He was also not a fan of Kaerishiel, which motivated him to help the Guardians with their mission. He stole a wand of Silence from Kaerishiel to use on the less stealthy members of the Guardians. Yes, Sir Godric was going to be the primary source of silence. At dawn, the heroes made their way to the Library. They stealthed up to the building, watching for snipers as they closed the distance. Buck noticed movement on the roof. They quickly made their way to the library and began climbing the vine-covered walls. Ella reached the top first and was set upon by six drow. Combat ensued, but a fireball from a flying Proteus Marin and some solid attacks from Ella and Godric, ended with six dead drow and victory for the Guardians. However, the job was not yet done. They made their way down to the ground and found a set of stone doors slightly ajar. Proteus cast Open and the Guardians watched them open, bracing for whatever was waiting for them inside.
