In the year 3451, a band of mercenaries and agents were hired to complete a contract for port master Lucius Grey, a merchant from the International Mercantile Federation (IMF). Their members included Drayton Fassbald, an Imperial agent sent to help secure Nevanese trade in the Geldmyr Sea region; Meriele Amastacia, an Etalian who has come on hard times and has been searching for work among the Trade Lords; Ingrid, a Dhrak'onyth youth with a desire for adventure and an exasperation with the social norms of civilization; Michael, a native to Nevan who is no stranger to the intense intrigues and dark activities that take place beyond closed doors and along shadowy wharfs, and finally an aged monk named Kane who had long forgotten his piety as well as his manners. They were told to locate and secure cargo that had been lost aboard the IMF Hawk's Peace that was en route to the port town of Squall's End. This being said, they were only told of what the cargo looked like: 25 shipping crates and a longer 6 foot tall crate, but nothing about the contents. They were told they'd be paid well for the contract: 50 gold. They left from the port of Baymouth Landing the very same day.
