What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
I have created so many articles using the purple button that I learn after the fact are generic articles, because if you don't explicitly select an article type they default to generic. This is frustrating because often times when I notice that the article is the wrong type I have already mentioned it several times. With no way to change the article type, I have to go back and recreate the article and then find all the other articles that mention the incorrect article and remention the correct article. This has wasted so much time.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
I propose that when you are using the purple icon (quick content creation) the create article button is disabled until the user fills in the select template drop down menu, and if the drop down menu is left blank the create article button is greyed out and can't be clicked.
Another way this could be implemented is if the select template dropdown menu is not filled in by the user when the user tries to create the article a warning message pops up asking the user if they want to create an article without selecting the template type.
What are other uses for this feature request?
This is a fairly narrow feature upgrade but it would prevent so many mistakes that can't be fixed until one can change they type of article.
The Team's Response
This suggestion did not reach the required community support or voting threshold.
This is not to say I do not agree this should be done, maybe not on the level it is suggested but for the full implementation as discussed above it will require more support.
I could simply make it NEED for you to choose an article type (with no default) but that will impede the people that want to use it quickly. I wil have a think on how it can become better with a simple implementation
