I admit to having a desire to see if the earlier-made projects (Hera being Family Trees, for example) could be touched up, revamped, expanded, and so forth, but I've read and heard the current limitations are because of server strain/pull/something-related-to-the-servers-being-unhappy.

Would be awesome if implemented. I do agree with eccbooks however, that might be a risk of straining the servers. Maybe something clever can be done by generating the tree once when a change is made, and then caching it for display. Or some other clever technique

Keep in my that generating the family tree is a system-intensive process, and that even dedicated family tree sites like Ancestry.com display only four generations by default (five, if the selected individual has kids). I, too, would like to see more spouses included (which is why I'm throwing some points at this) but I think they have to be careful not to bring the whole system down by generating the full family tree every time a family tree is called. My world's primary family tree covers 13 generations (so far), for example.
