Currently, the technology template has only the fields for writing about the technical aspects of an invention and how it used. However, many technologies in real life caused a lot of reactions (both good and bad) in societies. I think there should be a field for this in the template.
I know this can be done in the vignette, but adding a field could be a good reminder especially to new people
Technically "Utility" should handle this as being more general, but adding another field can be a good way to make people think about the consequences. Maybe even inspire to take it a step further.
A great idea - and like other fields, it can be left empty if the author doesn't need/want that information.
I *love* exploring the impact of technology on the world, large scale and small. There's just so much nuance you can add to a world by showing how people interact with its technology. I am absolutely in favor of this suggestion. I propose it be added to the main body text. There is already a lot in the sidebar, and this feels like a longer section to write.
Alot of times I think, but you can add this to the sidebar/vignette yourself. but this one is actually a good addition. Not too specific, nice and broad. It can be an excellent prompt to think about it and create more world from your article. Also what Bob says, the little indication symbols of whether it is a sidebar or main body placement, is missing on this type of article (and some others aswell)
The easier things can be made for people new to World Anvil, the better - and I agree, "impact" or "reaction" (or both) of a technology seems an important thing to be aware of in worldbuilding.
I agree with Bob, I think there a look over would not be a bad idea.
An "Impact on Society" section to fill out would be a good idea. But... while we're on the subject of the technology tab, it also needs to have indicators as to which fields (there are several) end up on the sidebar.
