Option to always expand "Template Specific Promts"

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

Whenever I create a new article/want to edit some details of an article or want to add a map marker I have to manually click "Show Template Specific Promts & Connections" or in the case of map markers "Show advanced options" and wait for it to load. It would save so much time and clicks to have them always open, as I use them in every single article and map marker I create.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

There are two possibilities to solve this problem I can think of. The first one, as mentioned in the title, would be to make an option under "interface settings" to have them always expanded (or not). The other possbility would be, to just save when I expand the articles and have them always expanded until I manually close them again.

The Team's Response

ok :) Let's make it an interface option :)

Holy heck, YES PLEASE. This is very annoying, particularly when I'm needing to make a similar change to a large number of articles at once.

I preferred how it was when those fields were always visible and not hidden behind a button that I have to click every time I navigate away from/back to the article.

Back in 2018, I remember these options being shown all the time - indeed, to me, that was the point of World Anvil, as each of these fields asks a question I'm not guaranteed to think of when writing freehand. They're such a useful tool and core part of my workflow here on World Anvil, I honestly can't see a situation where I don't expand the prompts every time I edit an article.

I like the idea of saving which view I used. Especially the map markers, since the options seem to take a while to load and I usually just want to put in a few words and move on to the next one.     I'm not sure how much work/memory it would cost to remember it on a per article or per article template basis. If I use the prompts differs greatly on what type of article I'm writing, so the super luxury version of this would   1) remember if I had the prompts showing last time I edited the article. 2) When I make a new article it would remember how I had it the last time I edited an article of the same template.   But an option in the 'interface settings' sounds much simpler and less confusing to comprehend.

While I've stopped using the template prompts and write in the vignette with my own headers, I like this suggestion because it seems to fall in line with how Athena (Articles & Categories page) remembers which view you use - the collapsed, the expanded, and the fully expanded views.   This also allows people who don't want to see the prompts to not have them visible, and those who use them to have them open.
