Let me start by saying that this may not be possible, but i'd like to see how many people think it would be helpful.

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

currently, the bbcode for ordered list always starts counting at "one", and a list cannot extend beyond the container it is in. (html does allow this, but we can't put html directly in articles.)

How does this feature request address the current situation?

the ability to (optionally) specify a different start point would let us break up a list (in adjacent containers, for example)

What are other uses for this feature request?

this would allow more formatting flexibility
