What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
The current charts tool is great for direct lateral interactions, but doesn't allow for interconnected relationships between topics. A character map creator could help show how characters are connected to each other with complex relationships mechanics, even when they're not related by family.How does this feature request address the current situation?
Having a visual interface to see character relationships, regardless of whether those are familial or casual, and including negative relationships, can help organize story and campaign ideas for who might work with who. Being able to see the "camps" so to speak of who runs in whose circle can help with betrayal plotlines and complicated political alliances. Character maps can also help to keep track of romantic entanglements such as who used to date who and what-not, as well as rivalries.What are other uses for this feature request?
Character maps could be used for single characters or entire groups to show relationships. I understand that this feature would probably have to be limited for display just like the family trees are, but even with the family trees, you can switch character and see the rest of their relationships. On a character map, even just being limited to seeing who that specific character has relationships with and what the nature of those relationships are would be extremely helpful.The Team's Response
This will be actioned like Diplomacy Webs but for characters based on the relationships created between them.

Though I agree with Valasania - such a character map could get cluttered quickly. Maybe there should be ways to limit/filter what kind of relationships are shown.

on 2021-05-24 00:34I love this idea but I think for the purposes of stories where there is a single primary character, there needs to be a mechanism of some sort to layer (might not be the right way to put it, or right direction) things in the situation where *every single person* the main character interacts with has a web tie, and thus having upwards of thirty or forty ties to the center. Seems like if that's not accounted for a web would get very visually cluttered.
