I like that we're able to assign our timeline events a "type," but oftentimes, the symbol that goes with that type on the timeline doesn't necessarily match the event. For example, "metaphysical/paranormal event" has a tentacle, which, if your paranormal event isn't Lovecraftian in nature, doesn't really fit.
I would move to have a symbol dropdown that allows users to pick the specific symbol they want to see on their events. Maybe the symbol is automatically assigned based on type, but you can customize the symbol itself for each different event on your timeline. That way, the symbol can function as another layer of organization and identification within the timeline, and the symbol can match the overall "vibe" of that event.
I know that timelines are about to get an overhaul with Project Chronos, and I'm super excited about that! I would highly suggest that this feature be added to the new timeline feature as well.
