The soft sound of rain welcomed the night, the forgotten street lights turning the alley black. Tucked away in a small wicker basket, a kitten’s eyes gleamed in the darkness. Leaping from the basket, the little creature shivered, the icy rain coating its fur.

Whomever left it had gone, the warm light of home replaced by the downpour of early fall. Abandoned in the darkness, the kitten scoured for shelter from the relentless rain. But there was nothing: wall like cliffs, barren of any outcropping, no shelter to be found; the kitten was abandoned, in a midnight alley, unending rain pouring from the sky.

This is a project from one of the classes. The assignment was to write 7-10 pieces of flash fiction that handeled one overarching idea/theme, I used loneliness as the basis of it.
It's not really connected to my worlds, so all I can ask you to do is to let me know what you think of it.

Aww, poor kitty. Flash fiction is not easy, but you really managed to bring over that feeling of loneliness.

Author of Ealdwyll, a fantasy world full of mystery.
