Walking into the space, Vens adjusts his goggles giving the space a look. "Wow...fancy. what do you think? Where should we start? Cards, slots, roulette?" Looking to Norria
"I...I've never been in a casino before," Norria confesses "I don't know any of these games." She looks around with big eyes, feeling rather overpowered.
"Never been either, but enough gambling in dingy taverns back home...Dad would not have approved." Laughing as he hides Norria to the slot machines. "I think this is a good start? Pop a coin in and pull the lever. Whatcha think?" Vens tilts his head toward her.
Norria puts a coin in and pulls a slot and squeals in delight when she gets more gold back
"Not bad, already made four gold." Vens nudges Norria before putting a coin in the machine he sat down in front of. Pulling the lever.
"Damn." He chuckles.
She pats his arm consolingly and pulls the lever again.
"Oh well, easy come, easy go," she sighs
"Told ya my luck is shit." Shaking his head, another coin appears in his hand and pops it into Norria's slot machine.
Norria moves to his machine and gives it a whirl.
"Oh, my luck was with that first pull, I think...I never did have very good luck."
"Maybe we should try a different game?" She looks around, still bewildered by all the tables and machines.
"Never know how lucky you can be until you try." He laughs. "I think that might be a good idea. What do you wanna try?" Holding his hand out toward the other tables.
"I don't know, Vens. I don't know any of these games. I will play what you want to."
"Cards then. Though, sometimes a look can garner interest, yeah?" Vens takes her hand and heads for a table.
Norria follows. "I have played a card game in the Tavern before. Andas had us playing it. I don't know what it is called but you try to draw cards and not go over a score of 21."
"Black jack, yeah. Sounds fun or want to try something new?" Gives her a chance before making it to a table.
"Let us try a little blackjack first. It's a bit...overwhelming." She sits at a table.
Vens siits at the table beside Norria. "And we can take our time exploring." He grins and draws a card.
"Oh, I will stop here," Norria says
"Bust..." Shaking his head.
The dealer giggles "a little to headstrong there"
"Hmm sees likes the pretty one with the horns wins" The dealer giggles pushing forward 15 gold
Norria giggles happily "My luck is back in, maybe!"
the dealer shuffles the deck and begins dealing cards
the dealer giggles again "I think I'll stay"
February 2nd, 2021
"I see...." And she does, sort of. Del tilts her head looking at the numbers as Callias guides her to the table "Soooo... If I saaay. Black. Uh. Evens?" She sets five gold on the table, looking at Callias with a raised eyebrow, looking to him for approval, and then to the dealer.
(Roulette is played by selecting intervals of 5 or 10 example 1-5 or 1-10, even or odds or above 50 below 50 and rolling a d100 if playing in groups only one person rolls the d100)
(Payouts are)
Interval of 5 - 20 gold
Interval of 10 - 15 gold
Evens and odds 7 gold
Above or below 50 3 gold
Buy in is 5 gold
Fish follows the sounds of the flashing lights and the noise from The Shop and onto the snow panther. The kenku looks around, eyes lighting up wide. There are a lot of shinies here for the bird to gather. They hop towards the counter to see about getting some coins to play.
the tall jackal figure appears before fish with a platter with a bag of gold offering "customary gold to play with courtesy of the Admiral"
They didn't even have to gamble and already given gold? This place rules. Fish scrambles over to a slot machine to see what this loud music box was all about.
Callias claps. "Oh look, you got evens. Then I'll pick odds for fun, at least give myself a chance to win once for you." He smiles. "The higher chance of success seems to work for me."
Del nods at first, pleased she picked up how the game works, and then laughs with delight as Callias gets a win. "Look at that! It really does! Alright, let’s try specific... between fifty seven and sixty two?" Does that work for an interval of five? She's not sure, but she's gonna spin, as she puts five more on the table. Del snaps her fingers as the ball bounces into a different slot, chuckling, "Evens have it this time, I think."
Fish grumbles at the machine coming out 5 gold poorer than before. They furrow their brow at the machine and try again. Another ten gold in and another five lost. Tiny hands hit against the machine to little effect. Must be broken.
Callias looks over when he hears the loud banging, seeing it is Fish at the slots. "Oh dear, I think Fish is learning the nature of how gambling is never on your side."
Sitting In the Center of the casino raised on a platform is a giant statues if a dragon that seems to be made of pure Sapphire
Del looks up as Callias mentions Fish and she blinks. "Fish is here?" She sees the little kenku at a slot machine and chuckles wearily. "Oh goodness. How to proceed?" She looks at Callias.
Callias looks at Del. "What do you mean? There's nothing they can do beyond the free money given to them, and the ship is only here for a short time. There are no alcohol or drugs present, so I suppose if they ask about it, it can be explained?"
Fish settles back and takes a seat staring down the machine for a few moments before they stand attempting another handful of coins. Ten straight losses is infuriating to the bird, however, their gun is at home. This machine will live for now, but not without a firm staredown from the Kenku.
"I do worry about the whole... serotonin, stare into the machine for hours at a time, thing, but it's not their coin, so if you're not worried," She gives him a smile, squeezing his hand. "Anything else you want to try out? Or keep looking around? I kind of want to see how this thing runs."
Fish is thoroughly done and fed up with this dumb and useless machine. It is given another hard look before Fish pads over to the roulette table, poking their beak up between Callias and Del. "What's this?"
Callias smiles as Fish arrives at the roulette machine. "It's a roulette game, you have a higher chance of winning, you should try it out." He explains the rules, before looping an arm in Del's. "We've played enough, so we're going to check out the other area the captain described. I think I heard mention of a concert hall?"
Del brightens up, smiling. Concert hall?? "Yes, lets look at that. Here, Fish." Del dips into her bag of coins and pulls out another ten for Fish, putting them in their bag. "Here. Be good." She boops the end of their beak, turning her grin to Callias. "Shall we?"
Fish looks a bit confused at them leaving, but turns to look back at the roulette wheel. It wasn't as shiny as the slot machine, impossible for this to be better. They curiously study it for a moment trying to do the probability math in their head.
Callias smiles, and hands the entire bag of gold to Fish. "I hope you enjoy. I promised Del I would be taking her on a proper date this evening, so we'll see you later, alright?" One more smile before he walks out with Del.
Fish's expression crinkles as much as it can at the mention of a date. Gross, but they did deserve so they stick around to let them go have fun.
leading the way for Aleister, Riddari steps into the Casino taking in a deep breath as he tries not to be overconfident in today as he readies himself for another day of gambling. He gives a tired wave to fish as he makes his way to the roulette table with Aleister. he rubs his hands together hoping today will be better as he only borrows 100 gold from Aleister as he thinks thats ‘more’ responsible than he was before “Thank you Aleister.. May the odds ever be in your favor as well.”
“Lets go start big shall we.. lets say interval of 5 between 36-41” Says Riddari. He shakes his hand in a iffy motion “Well got out the jitters.. lets try interval of.. say 10. Hmm 40-50” riddari gets flustered a little seeing it so close as he sighs shrugging. “10... 1-10... I swear if this is close to 100 I’m going to quit” It hits 90.
Aleister just watches "don’t you think you've done enough"
immediate face palm as there a very long drawn out sigh... Riddari mumbles to himself... ‘why does he have to be fucking right all the time..’ .. he looks to aleister “We don’t speak of this at the cafe. If Kaito hears this I’ll never live it down” another tired sigh before gesturing “You wanna give it a go then?” he tilts his head thinking of the time the spared how... unlucky he was then.. he waves a finger in thought but holds his tongue to see if the theory is true
Aleister shakes his head "im good"
riddari gives a charming smile “oh come one Aleisterr just one go won’t hurt ya. How about we both choose an interval for this next one?” riddari shrugs.. it’s probably entertaining to watch him lose at least “Interval of 10... 70-80” sigh “Ok.. evens.. Surely” a small grin crawls across his face.. as this is the first win he’s had tonight.. a small win but a win nonetheless “Well maybe my luck is coming around.. interval of 10. 40-50” …. "Should stick with the 70's...'
Riddari gives a tired look to Aleister.. “I feel like the fates are just rubbing it in this evening.” he looks up to the ceiling for a moment as he hears a message... he closes his eyes for a moment & can’t help to give a good belly laugh as he crosses his arms & punches his brow. he looks to Aleister & says “I just heard my luck was dead before I even stepped on the boat.” they can’t help but to give a chuckle hearing that from Nokomis as they shake their head he shrugs cheering up a little “Well I think I’ve had my fill this evening. Did you want to do anything else while we were on board?”
Aleister shrugs "Naw im good"
Riddari nods “Sounds good then” they start leading the way but turn to ask as they walk backwards, “..say.. should we find Sevin before we go?”
Es comes into the casino, looking around very suspiciously. "I don't like it."
Riddari looks over his shoulder to see Es coming down he gives a chuckle hearing that as he shrugs & says “Its not too bad in here, just kinda bright & a cool statue. You been to a casino before?”
"No," she says tightly. "This is....for nobles." She looks down again at the sack of gold. "I...wanted to do something different...fun...but...this just creeps me out."
Aleister shrugs "i mean spelljammers are things even nobles cant afford so yeah"
Riddari & raises a finger for a quick correction... he chuckles & gestures to the entirety of his being. “Well your not wrong about the ship part.. BUT for a casinoooos all are welcome & the common tongue is gold” he says with a chuckle “For fun the slot machines are rather enticing. There is also cards if thats your fancy?”
"I...don't know anything about any of that." She sighs "Maybe coming was a bad idea."
"The slots are a game of chance put in a coin pull the lever and see if you win, card tables play blackjack and on roulette you guys where the ball will land" Aleister explains
Riddari nods “They are all rather fun! I think I’ve hit my streak for the evening, but Ill happily tag along.” with a smile he proudly jingles the 2 coins in his pocket that he will give back to Aleister later
"I...I think I played blackjack once. Isn't that the game where you try to hit 21 and if you go over you lose?"
Aleister nods "correct the only difference is your playing for money here"
She looks down doubtfully at the sack again. "Guess I have enough for a round or two..." She takes a seat at a blackjack table and takes the cards dealt to her.
Riddari smiles “Shouldn’t hurt to play a round or two.” riddari sits down at the table
(Your dealer for the night)
The dealer looks at the group "well hello there welcome to my table hope you both have fun"
"I'm pretty sure I should stop with this 20," Es says, becoming interested in spite of her distrust
Riddari gives a warm smile “Evening, happy to be here! Oh umm ill take one more please”
"Seems im out for this one you two wanna split the pot or sudden death" The dealer leans forward
"What is...sudden death?" Death. Not a good thing?
"oh you both just draw a card highest card wins" The dealer smiles at them
Riddari chuckles “I’m a fan of sudden death.. sound good to you?”
"S...sure."
"ohh looks like the win goes to the pretty lady" The dealer pushes the coins to Es
Es looks at the coins, then pushes the requisite bet back in. "I'll try another round."
Riddari nods “Another round it is then”
"19's pretty good. I'll stop." Says Aleister.
Riddari looks up at the dealer as they tilt their head & say teasingly “If I didnt know any better I’d say your pulling my wing” they say with a chuckle pulling another card
The dealer hands out all the cards before pushing the coin to Es again "winner for the pretty lady and um i have never seen anyone pull like that"
Es reaches into the pouch and pushes a piile of coins over towards Riddari. "Here, you look low." She pushes in another bet. "How come I never play this well at the Tavern?"
"Well...15 will have to do...those cards are ridiculous!"
"left all the high cards for me it seems well Pretty boy can you pull the win" The dealer smiles at him
Riddari moves the hair out of his face a little as he takes a breath & gives a charming smile “I guess I’m just lucky like that.” he shrugs as he goes to put his hand on the deck... hearing that they look up “Now dont be getting my hopes up like that” he says teasingly as he gives a wink back pulling cards
"I guess this one's yours," Es says, scowling at her cards. What an assortment of junk!”
Riddari like looks at his cards again & back around to like make sure he actually won a bit shocked.
THe dealer smiles as she pushes the gold to Riddari "Congrats"
Es pushes her bet in. "One more, then I guess I'll...see what else is around."
he gets a wide grin “Well thanks umm, another round then!”
"Ugh!" she exclaims, disgusted. Yes, her luck has flown.
The dealer gives Riddari a wink "Two in a row it seems"
Riddari’s grin widens seeing the reactions.. was his luck.. finally changing... he just chuckles for a moment as he smiles at the wink “Umm yea.. Two in a row.” he shakes his head for a moment “One more round.. I dont want to fly too close to the sun but one more hand wont hurt” ...right?
"honey ive heard of you streak i think you are flying to close hs*to the sun as it is" the dealer laughs
"Oh sure," Es sighs, pushing her bet in. It's not your money, don't worry about losing it....even though uses for this much gold percolate through her mind and none have anything to do with gambling. "Oh!"
riddari chuckles “So i guess I’m well known around here then.. thats a good thing though right?” he draws form the deck “Well.. if this is the last hand might as well” he shrugs pulling a last card
The dealer tries not to laugh as Riddari busts.
Es chokes back a little laughter
the dealer slides es the gold shaking her head
Es looks at the pouch. "Um, I think I'm done...what should I do with this?" Her innate honesty is keeping her from doing what she rather wants to do, which is walking off with the gold.
Riddari sighs as he cant help but to chuckle too.. finding the steak was built on wax wings after all “Well at least I went out high” he chuckles “Thank you for dealing this evening. Mind if I ask your name by chance?” he asks with a charming smile.. he wonders about Es’s question too as he never really had any gold when he left before
"oh little old me its Ocenia" The dealer replies
riddari smiles as he reaches out a hand to shake “Well its a pleasure to meet you Ocenia, sharing a little of the luck” he gives a wink as he asks & points to the bag hoping to get a laugh at least as his reputation proooobably isn’t the greatest “You know I was kinda curious about the same thing, what do the patrons do when the... well.. have .. extra gold” he says with a chuckle
"well the gold is a gift from Admiral Nix as such it your to do with as you please it is yours to use and keep" Ocenia explains
Es stares and then suddenly sits down again. More gold than her parents ever earned! And...useful for future endeavors. Bribes. This could get her close to whomever she needs to kill. Could buy her mercenaries if needed. But it's a lot of gold and she's also a little frightened. She gathers herself together finally. "I am....deeply indebted to Admiral Nix," she manages to say. "I...wish you a good evening." She heads for the exit, still reeling.
riddari waves as Es goes hoping they had fun... turning back to Aleister they give a greatful nod & ask Ocenia “Well I truly think my luck was used up this evening. I am curious though.. as someone who works in the ship what do you tend do for fun?” he asks as he’s curious though it is getting rather late
"oh just the normal things anyone else does we hang out we get shore leave and such"
riddari nods “Well I feel very lucky to have met you Ocenia.. I think we have to find a friend & then return but I hope your evening is more fortunate than mine” he says with a chuckle hoping to sound nice at least.. he really needs to ask Kaito about those talking lessons. he gives a nod to Aleister as riddari heads out giving a wave over his shoulder before exiting the casino

Strolling around a bit Marlow decides to take a seat at a slot machine, looking it over curiously with a shrug. "Alright, let's see how lucky we are tonight, Poof." The raven looks far too distracted by the flashing lights to give a proper response while Marlow plays a few times.
"Whew...good thing we don't have these back home, I'd be in real trouble if we did." Marlow chuckles and stretches with a sigh. Still more coin in the bag he was given than he's ever had on his person at any given time. But he doesn't need coin here, apparently. Seeing no reason to keep it and feeling satisfied with the much needed distraction this place has given him today, Marlow leaves the bag of coins on the chair in front of the slot machine and takes his leave from the ship.
