"Today is the begining of your long journey. You will face many trials on the path. The first of which is the rebalancing of your world. A decision has to be made to determine how you will restore things to natural order." His voice was very deep. It echoed in her newly formed ears. "You shall be henceforth known as 'O Paleni'."

"Yes, father. Thank you for this opportunity. I will strive to maintain balance and peace in the universe." She spoke as she opened her eyes for the first time.

Paleni's people were godlike creations that were sent throughout the universe to be guardians of the balance. Every new planet that was created needed to have order and balance maintained. They were known as the Paleni. She left the side of this mighty being and started on her journey to the designated world. As she traveled she dipped her hands in the different galaxies and felt the life forces within flow through her.  She felt the balance of all things and felt the power that it gave her. She pressed ever forward.

With her destination in sight Paleni could feel the chaos that was consuming her new world. Thoughts started swirling inside her head. She wanted to figure out what the best way to restore the balance was. She knew that most of her siblings would devistate the planet and start fresh. That was not what she wished for herself though. It wouldn't be fair to annihalate the life that was already formed on the planet. How then, could she reform this world.

Suddenly she had a brilliant thought. She started swirling ambient magic between her hands in front of her. Slowly the magic formed into five beings. Next, she pointed to a barren planet and caused it to explode into large chunks. The magic that formed the beings in front of her whipped around and swirled the chunks of rock into perfect spheres. Each one was placed in front of one of the deities that she had created. Each moon began to glow with the power of the being that was in front of it.

"Palapala, you will be in charge of keeping the balance between life and death. I want you to always remember the circle and know that all beings play a part in it." Paleni looked at the small centaur-like creature and he nodded back at her as his moon started to terra form into a lush green sphere full of life.

"Matagi, you will be in charge of all knowledge and civilization. Ensure that you keep a balance between Pala's nature and your civilization." Matagi strummed her harp in response. Her sphere began to whirl and shudder as it burst and began to flow around itself.

"Malulu, you will be in charge of keeping peace between mortals and maintaining magic." The sphere in front of her began to freeze over and snow swirled around it as Malulu observed wide eyed.

"Galu, you will be in charge of protection of all things. Protect those that can't defend themselves. Balance the land and water and sustain it." Galu slammed the back end of his trident down as he kneeled before his mother in reverence. As his trident hit the ground the magnificent sphere in front of him bore fifty foot waves.

"Mata'utia, you will have control over war and death. You will share war with your brother Mumu. Please use your gifts for good." As Paleni told Mata what his charge was, she feared that he would disrupt the balance in other ways to cultivate balance for himself. All light that was in his gift was now gone. It became a very sparse blackened ball with a thick green smog surrounding it. Green crystals sprouted from the ground like wildflowers.

"Mumu, you will have control over war and the forge. Teach Mata how to use his gifts for good, not destruction. The forge is very important to maintain balance. Too much heat and your metal will melt, not enough and it will be unworkable." Mumu looked at Mata and a smile snuck across his face. He looked down on the orb that was floating in front of him. It began to crack and glow a bright red through it's surface. Molten metal began to flow across it as the planet began to glow brighter and brighter.

Paleni looked upon what she had created. "My children, I love you and I will do my best to keep this world in balance. I am attempting something that hasn't been done before by creating you. I am attempting to lean on you all for help in this endeavor."

"Yes mother." Galu was the first to speak up. His voice was a little raspy.

"Yes mother." Palapala kneeled before her as Matagi played her approval in the background.

"I will do what I can." Malulu was not looking forward to the task at hand. She knew that it would be very hard to keep her siblings from fighting, let alone the mortals.

"Mother, why do we not destroy this planet and start anew?" Mata spoke up. He was very confused why his mother didn't just press the reset button on the entire planet.

"There is no point in starting over when we are already this far in. It will be a shorter trip to continue through the fire than to turn around and risk getting burned." Mumu was a very wise person and Mata looked forward to working with him.

With this, Paleni turned towards Fa'avae. She knew that she would have problems getting her world to balance itself. The future also loomed over her. Mata would be hard to control. His wish to just burn everything away and start from nothing weighed heavy on her mind. Had she made the right decision?
