Chapter Twelve

“So, while the two of you were recovering from your exhaustion due to the amount of teleporting you did, Thee discovered that causing the inflicted creatures to ingest a small amount of graphite turns them back to normal.” Gole reports as she paces in front of Trouse and Teemu.

The group had been teleported one by one back to the old glishen city, where they were welcomed as heroes for cleaning the water of the dark magic that had poisoned it. They had also been greeted by a heavy rain, the first in ten years to fall in Nearth. There had been great celebration when Trouse and Teemu had gotten married in the old stable Trouse used to live in, although he was grieved to learn that his pig friends had perished long ago. For three days, the whole city was lit up with torches and revelry was everywhere. Then the group was given an enormous marble building to stay in as long as they desired and the creatures of the city began their lives anew.

“Yes, we found one of those disgusting flesh ball creatures and Thee had the idea to see what happened if an inflicted creature ingested graphite. He found the flesh ball’s mouth and shoved a piece of graphite into it. Immediately, the ball transformed into a rather plump rabbit and scampered off.” Poole explains energetically.

“I have already sent legions from the city equipped with graphite with the sole mission of returning creatures to their normal state. Even more of the city is marching off to free the dogs from their enslavement. We may now enjoy our lives as heroes. As it is, we are no longer needed by the world and may now go our separate ways,” Thee announces and a profound silence covers the group.

“I suppose you’re right. I will miss you all.” Teemu says as she looks to her pink-haired husband who sighs deeply.

“I wish you all the happiness we have found.”

“Nearth will never be the same as it once was.” Poole remarks and Trouse looks to him sincerely,

“No. It will be better.”
