The voyage ends up taking a month and three days. It is a miserable voyage, filled with seasickness and fear. Erve had to be left behind on the shore, and had put up quite a fight, until Gole had lost her temper. Erve had then ran off, and they had boarded the boat.
At last, when Gole was ranting in the boat about how she’d told the group there were no Strange Lands and the group was beginning to believe her as they drifted endlessly in the ocean, they saw them. A white, sandy beach glittered in the sunlight like a beacon, and everyone but the girl doub and the glishen helped to paddle the boat. When they reached the shore, they all dog-piled out of the boat, and fell asleep on the hot, still sand, with the warm, poisoned ocean lapping behind them.
