Emissaries of Silk. The arachne are a species of monstrous people born from the Baleful Below, and are feared all across the globe as disgusting, sadistic monsters. Possessing the upper torsos of a human or an elf and the lower torso of a monstrous spider, arachne can be quite frightening. Despite their reputation, the beliefs and behavior of the arachne are all over the place. They tend to live solo, often constructing complex web fortresses to capture prey and scare away invaders.   Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.   Age. Arachne reach adulthood at around age 7 and can live for several centuries.   Alignment. Born within the Baleful Below, arachne are born and raised amongst chaos. While their personalities vary, arachne will almost always tend toward chaotic unless raised a specific way.   Size. While an arachne's upper torso is the size of a human's, their arachnid lower bodies are large and have long legs that considerably bolster your height. Your size is large.   Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.   Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.   Arachnid Half. Though your size is large, your upper torso is still of a similar scale to other humanoid races. You count as medium for the purpose of holding weapons. The chitinous exoskeleton on your lower body possesses also gives you a +1 bonus to AC. You are treated as a monstrosity in addition to a humanoid, and due to your lower body, you cannot make use of mounts.   Spider Stride. The arachnid legs you possess allow you to traverse the world around you like your smaller brethren. You have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed. You can climb difficult surfaces, including ceilings, without making an ability check. Additionally, you ignore movement restrictions caused by webbing.   Silk. You know and can cast the Web spell without using a spell slot a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. Charisma is your spellcasting modifier for this spell. You regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Undercommon.
