Wand of Spellcapture

Wand

Rare Requires Attunement

This metal wand has a small sphere on its end made of a wire mesh. The wand has 4 charges. While holding it, when a spell is either cast within 30 feet of you or targets you, you can use your reaction to expend 1 of the wand’s charges to delay the spell’s release by one round. A hostile spellcaster can make a DC 15 saving throw using their spellcasting ability to prevent their spell from being captured.

After capturing a spell, you can perform either of the following:

  • Use your action to expend 1 additional charge and delay the spell’s release by one round.

  • Use a bonus action or reaction to release the spell.

While a target spell is captured, the original spellcaster can use an action to attempt to re-exert their control over the spell by succeeding on a DC 15 saving throw using their spellcasting ability. If successful in regaining control of a spell that required a spell attack roll, its original caster can select a new target or targets. The spell must be released if there are no charges remaining; the energy can’t be dismissed or canceled.

The wand regains 1d4 charges every day at dawn.
