Keen Hearing and Smell. The briarwolf has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.   Pack Tactics. The briarwolf has advantage on its attack roll against a target if at least one of the briarwolf's allies is within 5 feet of the target and that ally isn't incapacitated.   Briarblast. After being struck by a melee attack in combat, the spines of the briarwolf will flare outward much like that of a porcupine. If the creature is struck in this fashion again, the spines erupt outward with an immense amount of force in nearly every direction. All adjacent creatures must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or suffer 2d6 piercing damage.

Actions

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2d6+1 piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Looking like a normal wolf at a distance, this creature's true nature is only known when it is too late. Twisting masses of briar and bramble converge to form a fully functional, sentient wolf. One which, when struck in combat, can flare its spines and launch them in a deadly spectacle.
