Hi, i want to replicate the style of your Kelinor map but find it very hard to achieve. Could you please tell me how you made it or give me some advice? I would appreciate it very much since this looks great!
First of all, thank you very much! :) I made the map in Photoshop on a large number of layers. One layer for water, one layer for landmasses, one for forests, one for the hills, and so on. Then I chose a brush that made a good random splatter effect and fiddled around with the layer options. I basically played around until I got the desired effect for what I was trying to achieve (or stumbled upon when playing around with the layers). I also used masks to help with the painting of the initial landmasses. And after a number of hours things started to look good. Hope that helps a bit.
Ok, thanks. Seems like there is no easy formula. I tried many times with Gimp but didn't manage to create anything i am fully satisfied with. Clearly you have much experience with digital art. I hope you don't mind me following rpg world. I don't understand your language anyway, just hoping to see more examples of your maps :)
No problem and thank you again! As for the easy formula... it's not that hard once you learn a few tricks. My advice is to just keep practising and one day it will click. There are a few tutorials out there that should help :)
BTW, just working on translating everything. ;)
