The Struggle of Fang and Sword

The rise of man began in the early 1600s, with vast communities being built and walls being raised. The humans began expanding their reach claiming more and more land. These lands were transformed from their original plains and forest to suit the humans. Titles of lands and parcels were sold to humans who wanted to explore farther from main cities. As the homelands of the beast-folk began to dwindle into "modernized" or "civilized" settings and farmlands it became necessary for the beast-folk to assimilate into the human cities. Some beast-folk did not take well to the encroachments of other beast-folk or humans.    The interactions between these races ended violently on some occasions. This further cemented the idea within the minds of the humans that beast-folk like their kin are violent and uncivilized. Throughout the following generations the dislodged beast-folk were incorporated but treated as second class and lesser. Laws passed requiring proof of civility before beast-folk could attain homes, not many could. Similar laws also outlined the wage these groups were allowed to receive, as it helped reduce burden upon growing businessman and new settlers very few humans complained. News passed between the cities of violent outburst happening among the beast-folk population seemingly at random. These events often happened within a frontier town or village but happened with frightening brutality and frequency. Inner cities saw this and began to shy away from their beast-folk neighbors and workers. With this information it was not long before the implementation of laws banning the use of weapons, with the exception of a forced militia. This fear made finding work for the beast-folk difficult and valuable work more so. In some towns beast-folk were driven out en mass with violent mobs raiding local homes in an attempt to rid themselves of this eminent threat.   With the violent ousting of the beast-folk it was not long before groups of them began to form. Those groups who survived began to coordinate with those who had not yet been driven from their homes. Radical groups of beast-folk plotted in the shadows with the aid of sympathetic humans who knew little of their plans. Those were the first to fall. The skirmishes raged within towns all throughout the human empire human citizens and beast-folk rebels died in scores. The nobles saw the depleting population and the vision of societal stagnation. This prompted them to reach out and repeal old laws as well as enact new laws. Once the emissaries of the beast-folk found acceptable common ground with the nobility of the humans the violence, in most locations, ended.
