A stewsman is a male brothel keeper and this profession is outlawed in Doranor. A bawd, which is a female brothel keeper is not illegal, and actually may be respected for keeping such house in good conditions.
Prostitution itself is not illegal, if you are female. If you are a male it is another story and is death by hanging, same for a stewsman, or any gender keeping males for prostitution.

Qualifications

There are no qualifications, if someone wanted to become a stewsman they could, however, it would be dangerous. Usually you don’t find many stewsmans who possesses high status, though it is not unheard of.

Career Progression

One may start a house themselves but it would be pretty difficult to gain clients and workers. They would usually need high status or to start as a prostitute/protector themselves and work their way up.

Payment & Reimbursement

It depends on the workers and what arrangement they have, though the workers will always pay a percentage to their board. Some higher status stewsman may make their workers pay high commission, though the smaller less known ones don’t rob their workers near as much.

Other Benefits

Mostly motivated by money. Some may want to have connections within the community so they pursue this career hoping they make powerful friends of clients and possibly move up in the world or have people to get them out of trouble.
